Title: Roleplay requests
Post by: Camazotz on May 13, 2008, 08:48:06 pm
Note: this is merely an idea i had earlier- if it's rubbish, delete this post.

please post your requests / ideas for future role plays in this thread- things that we don't see enough of, or things you can't start yourself because you want to participate in them or don't have enough time to start them.

I hope people will look at this thread to find ideas for roleplays we need more of.

I know of one game where it was required for everyone to submit their role play ideas if they wanted gm support. I think this read is not only legit, but also very useful. :)

I think we need to see more religious based conflict. Or maybe a murder or or more crime based role plays. ;)

I find I have plenty of ideas just from Role Playing -- currently I am in a multi-faceted role play.  One part is that Lolitra has a ceremony to organise, another is that she has recently had an assassination attempt on her life - resulting in a crime investigation and another is her life story about her search for 'something'...

But yes, an idea library is a good idea for those who find the 'white paper' syndrom hard to get by and can only stare at the paper rather than create the story.  It would be a great aide to start them on their way to creating a great fun time in game for themselves and those who play along with them...

Isn't that what the in game role play events is for? So if someone posts a role play a player can ask to join in?

I believe the [IN GAME ROLE PLAY EVENTS] thread is for current or planned role play that is going to take place, and has passed the 'development stage.

I think  the idea of this thread is to give a 'compendium' or 'library' of plot ideas to pick and choose from to make your own event up from...

Correct me if I am wrong hehe

You are right in a way. I also mentioned other things in my post.

1. Well heres an idea :Try having someone. (i.e. child character) get lost and then organize a search to try and find them. I did one like this on a small scale and it was pretty fun. Especially given that it was spur of the moment and had no planning whatsoever.

How about the more mundane things that make up everyday not so dramatic life. Like someone cooking at a tavern and serving up food to people. Or being friendly host or hostess for others events. Being a nurse or doctor and RP tending the wounds of local gladiators or people who are just RP sick. Simple but well thought out RPs make the game fun.

I would like to see many contests for the arts, such as stories, books, and jokes. I believe it was Under the Moon that organized one ages ago, but I'm not sure.

I would also like to see an attempt at putting on a play.

It was me, yes. But my time is taken up greatly by prospect writing for settings now. You can find some of the results ingame.

Everyone already does that.  :P I think Camazotz means more... adventure-like roleplays.

If everyone already did that I wouldn't ask it.  ;) Usually when people think of organized RPs they think of murder, kidnapping, rebellion ;D and so on. What about the RPs that don't disturb the peace? Some may even promote it.

Perhaps you should go in-game more often.  ;) Most RPs don't involve any kind of violence.

I'm not talking about the simple RPs where two people are standing around talking to each other. In this case I am talking about the large scale RPs. Most of the time, drama is the only way to get a large group of players to pay attention long enough to involve them in a large RP.

In my opinion roleplay should not come on request, you should always roleplay. Being your character automatically gets you involved in roleplays that suit your character.

I won't go out of my character's way to join something. Of course I don't get the people who complain about a lack of conflict or interaction. I can hardly keep up with the conflicts most of the time. :P

I think some characters are just conflict magnets. :D

Ummm... How best to say it? Hmmm... How about "I don't".

I mean any roleplays even ones that are incredibly boring and that no-one could possibly guess why players in ps should ever be tortured in such terrible, horrific way by being forced to roleplay them.

Note: I don't really mean that there roleplays as bad as that. And i hope no-one here could possibly even think of posting an idea for one so bad here.

I agree that we should always be roleplaying, and joining ones that the character would, but I think this thread can help out some people that have the time to write and plan an extensive rp, and can't decide what topic would be a good idea.

Now, the small, mundane things should always be going on, especially since it takes little planning to pull it off.

Here is a whole thread about the fact that even simple RPs don't happen that much. However it is getting better. But sometimes big RPs grow from tiny mundane RPs that eventually become complicated. People have a tendency to think that it has to be huge in the beginning and that is what discourages a lot of would be RPers.

Well, some people might be interested in having their characters do little events like that. The extent of my doing so, however, was grabbing a mop to clean up a spill in the tavern.

Also, being the host/hostess for an IC event could be fun, especially if something...interesting were to happen. The character could get involved in bigger things, for instance: Someone gets poisoned at an event. The host(ess) gets ticked because their event is ruined, and decides to investigate, enlisting help from their friends/guildmates/whomever wants to join in...easy to see how things can grow from there, eh?

Yep. both RPs work.
