Title: Black Terrain
Post by: Airithe on May 13, 2008, 10:57:22 pm
Alright. This might be a computer-specific problem, but it just started today.

I was around the Bronze Doors and I noticed an area of the terrain was black. After a bit more exploring, most of the terrain became black, like this (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y102/canyon154/Picture1-5-1.png).

I'm using a Mac OS X version 10.4.11. The processor is a 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo.

It's not much to work with... If you need anything else just let me know!

Heya and welcome to PlaneShift! :)

The back ground there is a common problem and will hopefully be fixed in the next release. Until then you can try this fix (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=29997.0) :)

Good luck!

I don't use a MAC and i have the same problem, could it just be an older graphics card thing maybe?

I dont know really much about older clients...i was only on PS for crystal blue. It could be that Van or maybe just a leak in the system. Try fullbright, Since your in my guild Van, get on the forums and i will tell you about fullbright, Airi you may do the same.

No; I get this problem sometimes, too, and my computer's fairly recent.

That is kind of odd. I had this as well but I ran planeshift from the commandline with the -relight option and it fixed it. took a few hours though to finish.
Code: [Select]
[bill@billbox ~]$ planeshift --help
Your configuration files are in... /home/bill/.PlaneShift
DEBUG: Sound System Software Renderer Initializing...
Options for Crystal Space 2D driver for OpenGL using GL/X:
  -depth=<val>       Display depth (32)

-mode=<val>        Window size or resolution (1440x900)

-verbose           be more verbose; print better diagnostic messages

]/code]

You could also try relighting the specific map from the planeshift-setup utility. I am not certain that works but it used to.
