I dont believe ill be here much longer in the community, in the context of Bigfoot (although if not as Bigfoot then id rather be nothing at all). I feel the noose tightning even now as i type this out.
Id just like to say its been an interesting 3 or is it 4 years, on again and off again within the forums and Team. And ive enjoyed being here with the vast majority of you, yes even Link.
Now here is a Current and sort of suedo predictive review of planeshift as it currently is, and if the game continues on is current development path, as it will be.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bigfoots departing Predictive Score for Planeshift is: -
Graphics 7
Moody and atmospheric, and of good quality given the volunteer nature of the games origin. However the environments are rather to \"by the book\". Character race designs are also unfortunately to cliche, Dwarves elves and human dirivatives and catpeople, we\'ve seen em before and they dont realy push the buttons no more. But there are a few nice surprises such as the Kran and Krylos.
The Worlds background and premiss of being an underground empire has unfortunately not been exploited enough within its environmental designs.
Mobs are also rather standard MMORPG faire.
Polygon counts seem a little higher than the current standard, players with older system might not faire well with this, and an apparent lack of an adjustable clipping plane, there might be one there (had to fit it in somewhere :P ) seems to put undue pressure even on my system.
but over all a good effort.
Sound n/a
(Cant comment since havent seen any yet :P )
Music 9
This is where Planshift seems to shine its best, an original Score of high quality with its own unique feel and attitude, if the visuals dont make you think your underground the soundtrack will.
Gameplay 6
Rather stock standard MMORPG fair here folks, Swashbuckling and Spell slinging, at its core. as the saying goes a rose is a rose, nothing to write home about but it works.
There are a few interesting additons however such as a neat character starting history that allows you to purchase items, money, gold and special skills at creation with a limit amount of points (is that still in the MB demo?), along with purchasing negative aspects such as being crippled, blind and so forth to gain extra purchase points, good actions vs reward.
As with a number of other commercial MMORPG\'s out there cosmopolitin approach to Racial interaction leads to rather lack luster background history for the world, often to justify the omission of a PvP system, while interesting the back story just doesnt have any bite, soon the player gets into the old its us vs the Machine mentality, item farming, macroing and Lw3t hordeing, as there is little in the world to get the player interested in pre-history, so it gets glossed over.
System Specs are a little bit of a sore point, and Bugs are all to common, although not as bad as Anarchy Online was in its release. One aspect of this could be that during early development the Team was produceing and consentrating on to many tech demos to show the user base, long before the client and graphic engine was in anyway complete or stable, it would have been best to focus on the end product rather than leap frog there way to the end. However in a volunter based project it possable went to there benefit.
Given its draw backs it works. Things can only get better with future PS expansions.
Overall 7/10
A good and solid MMORPG outting, for those that are new to the genre, although those who have played the likes of EverQuest, Star Wars galaxies, Dark ages of Camelot, Anarchy Online and such who want a new and fresh outting will find them selves a little bit too much at home.

Ill leave this post with this...
Improvemnt rides on the back of sincere critisim. Good ideas are tempered into great ideas with the hammering of many minds.
Good buy and good luck.

I and the rest of the team are honored that you mentioned us with these other professional games. My prayer is that we will live up to the promise in whose confidence you profess.
Apology accepted. :-)

Sorry to see you go bigfoot, but im sure you have your reasons! Cya!

Errrrr it wasnt an apology Vengence, so take the smug grin off your face, and i hate being patronsied. Most of those references to those other games where about those other games negative aspects. being compared to EQ last time I looked wasnt the best of praise :D , not bad but not good priase either , might want to play some of those games to see what i mean.
Im still holding my opnions of World of Warcraft in, since after visiting there forums a few times, i fear for teh player base in that game i realy do, Amazing game but with the vast majority of your playerbase being diablow and Warcraft/Starcraft l33ters with a average age of 14 the prospect of a great pre-history goes down the toilet. Although some of the forum members over at teh blizzard seem to have some intellegance.
This post was done since I had a feeling youd be banning me soon, hence my opening paragraph.

Farewell, Bigfoot. See ya round (maybe.)
By community do you mean both forum and in-gameness, or just forum?

Well, it doesn\'t appear that you are going anywhere, but I was just thinking, if you were booted, then came back as someone else, it would not be hard to figure out who you were from teh way you spell certain three letter words...

ok i just have to say, eq is so much better than you make it out to be...
no game is as large as this, it has so many many items (really it has thousands of items) and around 15 new ones are being reported to cheat websites everyday, also the number of quests and zones not discoverd is amazing, and with about 200 tradeskills, and around 50 tradeskills to upgrade after lvl 50 the game is great, theres constant gm events happening that change the world and damnit im not typing anymore
you really cant see what eq has to offer by getting to lvl 6 one day YOU DO have to give up all other life to play this game. ...its really just huge compare to what else is out there.
ok bye now sry bout that

Ummm Bbum you do realise i have been playing EQ since about 3 months after its commercial release over 3 years ago... and haved played most classes into the mid 30\'s, and have a couple of 50+ toons.
no game is as large as this, it has so many many items (really it has thousands of items) and around 15 new ones are being reported to cheat websites everyday
As for the thousands of items line... you do realise that the vast majoriy of those are usless and/or are vendorloot, or are for quests that give out rewards not worth undertaking in the first place.
also the number of quests and zones not discovered is amazing
Errrr Ive been to most of the Zones in all of the first 4 (as well as LoY) expansions in one shape or another (i havent got PoP), And unfortuanetly they have been all discovered.. by now the Plane of Time would or should have been visited, seeing as there was one of teh server wide uberguilds close to getting tagg\'d for it a few months ago. Also dont forget that the Zones are easily identified from there file names in the root directory of the programme.
theres constant gm events happening that change the world and dangit im not typing anymore
What friggin server are you on?... I doubt youd be on Ledgends since most people in this Forum seem to be here for the main reaon PS wont cost them anything, so i doubt youd fork over 30$ a month to be on teh Ledgends server.
The last GM event I saw persoanly was about a year and a half ago, the Halflings invaded the necktulos forrest and much unfair wanton newbie darkelf slaying was had by the GM\'s untill all the Uber players arrived and killed them. There was a scripted Event recently with the new Ledgends of Yekshe expansion, where the frogloks kicked the trolls out of the city of grob and into neriak, but i was asleep when that happened. But no, as far as your comment about events go, your talking out of your bottom or should i say B\'bum. The GM pool are most likely being used to fuel that damned legends server.
and with about 200 tradeskills, and around 50 tradeskills to upgrade after lvl 50 the game is great
You do realise how long it takes and how much ingame money and time you have to have to get to that level?... i spent 8 hours STRAIGHT, working on smithing with maxed int for an erudite, to get to 160 smithing (this was pre gearlock days), and what can i make with it... banded (Does any one actauly make Fineplate?... the cost ratio is waaaay off)... which now days no one needs. And to make the uber actualy usefull gear you have to gather items that drop from raid class mobs, and some of the more extreme dungeons only to have the attempt fail because your not maxed.
by the way the 200+ skill AA\'s your talking about are the \"New Tannan\" AA\'s, which allow you to make other skills surpass the 200 limit since before that only one Trade skill can be made to go over 200. Theres even the planar tradeskill AA\'s which increase on the old New Tannan AA\'s. Dont forget you have to be well into the 160\'s before you can make anything remotely worth makeing (however they have lowered teh trivials on a lot of things recently, makeing all those that spent hours on tradeskills pre change kinda pieved). The only cultural armor ive seen that is in anyway usefull is the barbarian\'s Fiery heraldic Plate (dont qoute me on the name). The Plannar crafted armor, is almost laughable in diffuculty, but its pretty good stuff from what ive seen. Just dont think of making any very easily or if not at all, cause you\'ll die of frustration before you do.
you really cant see what eq has to offer by getting to lvl 6 one day YOU DO have to give up all other life to play this game. ...its really just huge compare to what else is out there.
I can and have, soloed almost all the classes to there high teens in 1 day, my beastlord i got to 25th in 2 days, solo. And unfortuanetly that is teh problem with EQ, its a time sink, and teh Developers have actualy openly stated its a time sink, They WANT you to spend huge ammounts of time in game, since that... funnly enough is how they make there money, and the more loops, Items, tradeskill, AA time sinks they can stick in teh longer you shovel money into there bank balance. the world may be huge, but with the Nexsus and now the plane of knowledge, travel distance is nothing, where back before kunark it woul take me around 3 hours real time to get from Erudin to Akanon, I can get there within 2 minutes... so no, the world isnt huge (especialy since 60% of all zones are empty due to crud item placement or bad exp).
Sorry to burst your bubble Bbum since i have a feelin you might have just recently bought the game, given your zealotism of it, ive been there done that and im affraid you have a shock awaiting you at endgame, someting every player of EQ comes to realise in the end.
