Title: Settings Position
Post by: Shaman on June 26, 2008, 01:00:36 am
Since there are a lot of discussions about changing this or that, I thought it'd be a good idea to ask a simple question:

What would you do if you were the settings leader?

What would you do if you were the settings leader?

that is no easy question as no one outside the team has any idea what the leader does to decide what they would do. This is NOT a simple question in any means.

Not necessarily. It's a simple question, but I don't expect any simple answers. It's asking purely in general, what people would want to do if they had any strong influence over how things were implemented and etc.

you want a strong influence make feature requests on the bug tracker and wait as they get ingame.

I didn't even add my own thoughts in this thread. I just want to see what other people think, and show the community in general what the others think as well. That's the point of this thread.

no you want people to waste their time posting here where they could take the time they would to come up with a feature request they want ingame and make a report for it on the bug tracker. this thread is going no where. People dont need to post what they might do as they have no way to know how things work. You are missing my point in this, people cant just guess what the leader of any team does or what the team does and then say i think it should be done this way. IMO this thread is an insult to the dev team as you are saying you dont like what they are doing. If you dont like what they are doing make suggestions on how to improve dont make a thread for people to sound off on what they want changed, we have many ways for people to do that.

Well I asked before I posted this, but I guess if it's going to be burnt down by endless flaming posts there's no point in continuing it. Thanks for not even giving it the slightest chance for people to voice there thoughts in it.

Caarrie I appreciate your impassioned posts in our defense, I am willing to see what the heck these tweekers would do in my place.

So bring it on tweekers.

"What would you do if you were the settings leader?"

Well, knowing what I know of Xillix and the awesomeness he possesses, I can answer that for all of you. You would all go mad and start talking to invisible pink mailboxes on Tuesdays and Fridays. No questions about it. :)

"What would you do if you were the settings leader?"

I would surrender my position to the awesome one.  :surrender:

I would lay down the law! Nothing exists until I say it does.  ;D And then people would beg to have Xillix to be the leader. But knowing about the cites and that are in the general vicninty of Oja, Gugrontid, and Hydlaa. Would be a biggie on my list. If Gugrontid has been there all along, people treating like a newly founded city would be odd from an rp standpoint. Fortunately we did get some warning before it came. Providing you read in the library regularly.  ::)

I'd put more libraries around, and have the NPC's give more information (which I'm guessing is already planned). I'd also try to find some way of reminding the players in-game that violence within city walls tends to have consequences dealt by the guards more often than not.

Furthermore, I'd make up more background on Xiosia and stick the information in the game somewhere (again, likely already planned, or possibly there but I just haven't found it yet).

Frankly, I don't think I could lead the settings team competently, though I'd absolutely love to be on one of the dev teams some day (maybe when I'm in college if I still have the time for PS between school, work, and life then ^^; ).

I'd make Xillix a prospect and then pick on him ceaselessly :P

Apart from that I'd try to get rid of this position as fast as possible again I would

Try to make internal activities, discussions, work etc. more public. That is actually a wish I have  (is this what this thread is about?). This would also help answering to this thread more qualified ;)
