Title: Planeshift Wallpaper Contest!

Hi everyone,

Time to dust off those Photoshop skills and start thinking with your right brain again...  it\'s time for the first ever Planeshift Wallpaper Contest!

1. Please submit your entries here in this thread.

2. Multiple entries are allowed from one person.

3. Post them here in 800x600 format.

4. The top 3 winning wallpapers will be made available on the PS website in multiple resolutions, and will be attributed to whoever created them.

5. Putting your signature or logo on the wallpaper is also ok, but make sure it looks cool or it might cause you to lose.

6. The First Place Winner will receive their choice of either a) their own permanent Avatar on these forums, or b) the weapon of their choice to carry around in Molecular Blue until Crystal Blue comes out.

7. The deadline for submission will be defined by devs. Consider it few weeks after start of this thread.

8. Entries will be judged by all dev team members and the final decisions on the top 3 and the overall winner will be made by Talad.  There will be no explanations and no discussions about this decision.

Hmmm, now am i late or was the deadline extended?... seeing as the Forum site been down for the last 4 days almost and was down since 1 day before the deadline.

Well even so heres my entry Its large filewise, but didnt want to compress it to far. A dramitic view of the  Temple of Laanx at night within the cavern

THE LINK IS NO MORE VALID. CAN YOU UPDATE IT?

Its missing Laanx who was going to be standing on the balcony looking down, but time was running short, but it still works even with out her (when i think about it with her in it it would detract somewhat from the rest). Had to force the perspective since the camera was not extreme enough to get the angle i wanted (so some of teh objects in the picture are a little unrealisticly placed, but close enough for effect).

 Done in 3dsmax with PShop touch ups. I took numerouse Artistic liberties on the design of the temple, well every thing realy, and that aint lightning in the background, thats crystal light shining through the chasms and cracks of the caverns ceiling, and through other large Crystal viens, running through the caverns outer surface. Thought id spice it up a bit and make it interesting i guess.

It\'s my first time trying to make wallpapers, and I don\'t know what the requirements are, and if I can meet them, but I made a couple with screenshots I took today.
I took a lot of screenshots, so I may make some others, but I\'d like to know if these even remotely qualify to be judged first...

I\'m sorry that I posted more than one per post, and they are not in 800x600...

I don\'t like wallpapers that have too much text, or too many images jumbled together, I liek them fairly simple  :] If you have any suggestions for improvements don\'t hesitate to say so.
I\'m not gonna bother doing anything more though, until I get some feedback  :P

Also note that they may not be exactly 1024x768 due to cropping and stuff, and me being too lazy to change them now...

Nice work so far. Easter gave me a bit of time to have a go myself, so I for one am pretty glad it was extended over the hols.

I know this probably isn\'t suitable for a wallpaper, but I had fun doing it so I thought I\'d post it anyway and it certainly didn\'t take anywhere near the time the last one took to create ;)

Hi all,
I\'ve cleaned up the thread so you can see all the relevant posts.

I will post an announcement on the web page about this contest, so we get some more people, then we will close it and vote of the winner.

Please post here your wallpapers for PlaneShift. my hints are:
1) Leave enough space for desktop icons.
2) If you place some text, make it half trasparent or with small font
3) Use some special effects!
4) Reuse your screenshots or art from the site if needed.

(Bigfoot the link to your image is broken, can you fix it?)

Hooray! Another Kran Wallaper  ;)  

The idea here was that the Azure Crystal is HUGE and is right behind the Kran for some reason.... (I know it\'s strange, but hey! I\'m an \"artist,\" ok?) ;)

Alright here\'s my attempt, it was made from a screenshot I took which was a bit difficult since I had to remove the target box, and had to add a great number of effects, and finally I added the planeshift gif included with the program :)

BTW it\'s about 150KB, it\'s that size since I chose the maximum qualitiy when saving(I can change this easily).

i wont be on these boards very much anymore if not at all, since ive been working full pelter on NWN models for my first HAK pack release, and im nearing the end stages of them, just working on there animations. So give the first prize to some one else if i end up winning it, and use my wallpaper as you see fit (as long as i get artistic credit of course)

I just had to pipe in after seeing Green\'s entry ( as well as all the other great jobs submitted since I last checked) It may be simple Green but as a desktop goes I think its quite nice!

I want to announce that the contest is now officially closed : no new entries will be accepted after this post.

We are now discussing about the first 3 positions, which will be awarded respectively:

1st  place : 4500 rubies
2nd place : 3000 rubies
3rd  place : 2000 rubies

We will announce shortly who the winners are, and we will also contact them indicating what to add/modify in their wallpapers to become official.

Additionally, we will award 500 rubies as a honorable mention to all the other wallpapers that will be running for the top positions but will miss that little \'something\' needed to get in the top 3 positions.

just some random suggestion .... use them as random loading / splash screen for CB, if their author are okey....
