Hi all,
I was wondering/hoping/praying someone might give us some insight on how to aquire fire? I know we're supposed to ask these questions in-game, but i've only found one person with a fire & he won't tell how he got it unless I give him 10k tria! :'(
Since this is such a new thing and (almost) no one in-game knows how to implement it, would a little hint posted here be a bad thing? :flowers:
Thanks! :)

so how are we supposed to implement an item which is brand-new and none of the other guinea pigs (heh sorry, players) know how to use? Apparently there is no one in-game to ask!!

Find it out yourself - inventing fire is not an easy task :P
-
10.000 tria for something as trivial as fire ... go find it out yourself, when you do. Set the greedy bugger on fire. :P

Speaking hypothetically as I do not have any particular knowledge of this, there are two npc's standing around a campfire somewhere in the game. They have been there a very long time. You might want to try them, it would seem logical but it might be a goose chase. Then again if you find a stick you could always try putting it into a forge or one of those decorative flame-pots outside the Laanx temple to see if it burns. There are also a couple people out in the wilds selling stuff who might have them.
Use your imagination or use your diligence. You will find it I am sure.
The devs implement the players acquire.

*sigh.
I guess I'm just being impatient. I've run to all the places & npc's i thought might give me information (including the two you speak of) but have come to no avail. What i was hoping for was not directly an answer, but rather a nudge in the right direction (it's a skill i need, it's a quest item, someone sells it, etc. :whistling:). My impatience is because there is a special event coming up for my character very, very soon & it would have been wonderful to have such a thing as a working fire there. I'm sure there will be other events.
Thanks for your time! :)

How can you have a spoiler in a beta (correction: Alpha)?
This is not a finished game, it's just a test version. How does a player test, if he can't try the skill?

Perhaps it is a test of availability, if people cannot figure out how to get something maybe it needs to be easier.
I kind of doubt the officials would agree though.

I played around with campfires on the SVN server. The problem with them is that they create a ton of particles and cause a significant FPS drop when you have enough of them.

Bit of a slippery slope, Valorius.

To hopefully forestall any disappointments, the fires don't light up the "map" yet, just characters and items... so they don't really help to find your way at night. But they look cool ;)
And hopefully sometime soon it will be fixed to light everything.

We're waiting on CS for that. Hopefully it'll be in the new RM stuff they're doing.

torches don't light you up all the way around it
from certain angles they have no effect on you
-
If you hold a torch on one side of you, it shouldnt light the other side of you because you are in the way. If that is what you mean....
-
no i don't :P
the bug that leaves flying torch flames
if you walk around it it does not light all the way around it
