I've been trying to update to the newest version, but there's this one problem: the updater app simply REFUSES to open. I click on it's icon in the planeshift folder, and it appears on the dock, bouncing up and down- but only for about a second. Then it stops, dissapears, and nothing happens. What should I do?
Oh and sorry if this is answered somewhere here, I did check the search but it didn't come up with anything that would be useful to me. I also went through the stickies... But that didn't help much either.
(Or then I just didn't check properly. If so, sorry!!)

You're not the only one with this problem. Try looking here:
http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=32819.15 (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=32819.15)
Basically, you should run the updater in Terminal :)
Good luck!

the current updater is broken use the one in this link http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=32819.0 and run it and NO there is no not a gui so it will not show you anything unless you run it from terminal or open console.
-
ah, thanks! Got it to work. ^^
-
 i know it also does that 4 me and it also does it 4 client soooo why? :@#\

Pandabandito, if you were playing Planeshift during the time 0.4.00, then you simply need to run the updater, however you need to run it from a terminal window.
In Finder, Navigate to Applications --> Planeshift --> Right click on 'psupdater' and click 'show package contents' --> Contents --> MacOSX --> Followed by double clicking on 'psupdater_static'.
However if you joined us and downloaded the client 0.4.01, click here (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=32819.0) and put the new updater in your Planeshift folder and perform the above steps.
It should then launch in a terminal window and update, however if you get a message: 'updaterinfo.xml is not active' simply spotlight for the file 'updaterinfo.xml' and open it in textedit. On the first line change the 'false' to 'true'.

Yes, on the first line change 'false' to 'true' then save it and run the updater using my instructions from my first post.
-
k im doin the instructions...
*edit*
it bounces 4 10 sec now is dat good/bad or what...
-
* Timmothy start to grow frustrated.
You're not following the instructions then, you're supposed to launch psupdater_static by right clicking on psupdater then clicking 'show package contents'. That way it will open in terminal. You're not supposed to open it as a normal application!
-
hmm can u tell me yr instructions?
-
panda, this game is not for you.
sorry.
I suggest that you try PS again when you
1) learn how to use your OS of choice or
2) wait until the game is move developed and more dummy proof.
all the info you need to play the game at it's current state has already been provided to you.
If you still wish to play, then have someone more knowledgeable with computers set it up for you, as they will be able to quickly and easily follow the instructions provided and get it set up and working.
