Ok, well Trefalgr\\\'s Secret was getting over-crowded with OOC stuff, so just put it here from now on, unless you attach it to the beginning or end of something else. I just don\'t like all those only OOC posts. It messes it up, kinda.
Anywho, I guess now we need Wormtail\'s response before we can do anything else. Will he join us?
-
I will join you. By the way, I edited my post, but I didn\'t want to clog up the thread was a new post with only one sentence.

Hey, I\'ve read a couple post of \"Trefalgr\'s Secret\" and I was wondering if I could join. I\'ll just jump in at some point where it would be appropriate.
Also, could you sort of give me a summary of what\'s happening? All I know is the party\'s opponent is a horde of demons...
-
feel free to jump in anytime, we will work you in
-
wormtail_ the building we are in is a inn/tavern, plus there are still people there. We can\'t tear it down. And the suggestion sounds strange. Just a thought.
-
... There are still people in there? Then I\'ll have to edit the suggestion... I did read about the building being a tavern, but I don\'t remember reading about other people within the tavern. Then again, I might\'ve missed the area about people being inside the tavern while skimming through the thread. As for teh suggestion being strange, that is because either my character is strange, or I am strange. Or both. Either way, it is because one of us (my character or I) is strange.
Also, Ravenmaster, I edited the reply about the old man comment. I seem to be making many mistakes...
-
Im back! sorry i was at an FBLA competion for 3 days, ill see if i can add too the story now.

Sure, we\'d be glad to have you aboard. Here\'s a basic overview of the story:
Part 1:
Trefalgr and his friend were riding through the forest and were attacked by a vampire. Trefalgr\'s friend died and Trefalgr killed the vampire. He brought his dead friend along to a nearby inn. The inkeeper, an old man named Gonnle, welcomed him and started telling him about how a wizard said there was an evil migration going on. He keeps talking about how this wizard has been telling him about an evil migration. Somewhere around here, Kinoss barges in , covered in cuts and bruises, says something about a map, and collapses. He is carried upstairs and Trefalgr pays for his room. A sound of birds and very stiff winds comes from outside, then the door busts open and in the doorway is the Ravenmaster. He tells that there is a migration and that \"the distribution of death will be much adjusted\". Gonnle charges at him and is knocked down by the wind. The Ravenmaster goes outside and a bunch of demons begin attacking. Gonnle goes upstairs to find the wizard, but he\'s not there. When he comes back downstairs a demon jumps on him and kills him. Some young warrior goes outside to fight the demons and sees the Ravenmaster. He tries to attack, but the Ravenmaster grabs him, says, \"I am not the enemy\" and throws him into a horde of awaiting demons. Zahtek(a barbarian who happened to be in the inn) and Trefalgr go outside to save the warrior, and find a horde of demons awaiting them. They find the warrior, but he turns into a zombie and attacks them. They see a big boss demon come out with a flaming sword and attack the Ravenmaster, who turns into a flock of ravens and flies away. Trefalgr throws some flash powder on the ground and the two run back into the inn and close the door. At this time, Trefalgr reveals his secret. He is carrying an artifact called the Haziknon that he must destroy. That is what the demons are after. The big demon who tried to kill Ravenmaster busts into the room. Zahtek charges at him and is knocked across the room, his sword broken. The demon grabs the Haziknon and raises his sword to kill Trefalgr. Zahtek tackles the demon and begins pummeling him. At this point Kinoss comes downstairs and throws a smoke grenade. He jumps at the demon and stabs him in the throat. When the smoke has cleared slightly, Trefalgr kills the demon with its own discarded sword. During all this, Dandor, the affore mentioned wizard has been blowing up the demons outside while riding his Pterosaur. He comes in now, bringing news that it is dawn and the demons have fled. He heals Zahtek and tells everyone to go to bed.
Part 2:
Then next day everyone get up and goes downstairs. While they are eating, a Lemur, Rantal peeks through the hole where the door was and looks around with his bow drawn. Trefalgr and Zhatek greet him and tell him to put his bow away.
That\'s about where we are now.
I did that all from memory, so it may not be correct. I reccomend you actually read it.
EDIT: I just got rid of my first edit
-
Ah, now I see where I confused the old man and Zahtek. Hmm, I wonder who will own the tavern as the old man is dead. :P If the old man was the owner of the tavern...
Anyway, I\'m not sure if everybody is supposed to know about the Haziknon or just a few people. If everybody should know, I\'ll edit my last post. If only a few people know, then I\'ll keep the post as it is. My character, after all, is new to the group.
Bood job on the overview and summary, Ravenmaster. I was confused on some points and your post cleared things up a bit.
One more thing: I am assuming that each village can protect itself against demons and other evil agents somewhat. Otherwise, the villages are going to become desolate wastelands, if you know what I mean. Or we can just say that the demons and evil agents consider destroying puny villages beyond their concern.
-
I think this is the demons first great appearance. The other villages have no worries currently becasue the intent of the demons rest upon the Haziknon and not to destroy villages.
I think there are very few people who know of this Haziknon.
-
Thanks for the overview. I\'ll join in soon enough.
-
Now that Gonnle is dead, it seems the cowardly barkeeper has taken over, seeing as Trefalgr payed him for a room. Maybe the barkeeper was Gonnle\'s son. Originally the barkeep was just an employee, but in any event, he seems to have inherited the inn.
Here are some things you may want to know to avoid confusion and incoherent posts,as well as some basic rules (sorry if I seem to be dominating Trefalgr\'s Secret, Trefalgr. I know you started it, so I hope you don\'t disagree with this):
1) Trefalgr\'s Secret is written in present tense.
2) You shouldn\'t write for other characters\' major actions. You can say that they said something or noticed something, but you don\'t know their character, so don\'t write that they attack someone or anything major like that.
Characters:
(Everyone should write a brief discription about any characters they created so others will know how what to say about them)
Zahtek
Zahtek is a young barbarian. He wears boots and leather pants, but no shirt. He carries around a large, black sword which originally belonged to a great demon. His chest is covered with a large burn mark from a battle with said demon.
Dandor
The enigmatic wizard leader of the group, analogous to Gandalf, but not quite that powerful. He rides a Pterosaur and probably knows a lot about anything mystical.
Ravenmaster
A dark figure who is always followed by ravens. He seems to be immensly powerful, and if he were to die he instead turns into a flock of ravens and flies away.
-
Pssst, Ravenmeister, don\'t forget your dwarf in Seeking Fortune, we\'re just sort of wandering around waiting for him to talk....
-
Aruneko, if you want to join, you can do it now. Zahtek just left the group to go visit one of his friends (you, perhaps). If you do not join in now, that\'s ok, too, I\'ll just make up some other reason for Zahtek to leave.
Ok, Mehallie. I posted something. It\'s not very helpful, though. Hehe...
-
Don\'t worry about it Ravenmaster. I consider this story as much yours as it is mine. :D (Plus it takes some of the strain off of me.)
I agree with Ravenmasters rules. So let\'s go with them for now. :P
As for introductions...
Trefalgr
Trefalgr is a classical hero type. Long blondish-white hair, tall, slender but strong. Dressed in dark brown leather boots, pants and tunic. He also wears a black hooded cloak bearing his family creast, a small white shield with a red cross in front of a large red bladed cross. brown belt, small pouch hanging on right side, larger money pouch in back with a dagger next to it. His long sword, Brann (the Norwegian word for fire (just in case you were wondering( :D ))) hangs at his left. Brann was given to him as an heirloom, it once belonged his great, great-grandfather, General Xigel.
If I think of anything later I\'ll add it.
While I\'m writing OOC posts, I was wondering if there was any elements you wanted me to add to the story that wouldbe hard for you to work into your character writing. I\'m always open to suggestions. Not that it would be useable in the story but it might help...
Just a thought.
-
Excellent, character information. Should we also put in skills and flaws of our character as well? It\'s up to either Ravenmaster or Trefalgr to decide if one should do so with every character. I\'ll do so with my character.
~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~
Rantal
Rantal is both an archer and a mage. He is a Lemur of average height and strength. His strength, however, is in his arms and not his legs. His intelligence is at least average, but it may be more so, as nobody has really noticed anything about hsi intellectual ability. He carries a longbow with a quiver with around 90-100 arrows, as well as a staff and magical bag of \'stuff.\' The bag itself is magical, as it reorganizes itself and preserves objects (like food). He wears the classic traveler clothes, brown and dusty robes, leather belt, and staff. He is the classic traveler as well, wandering from one place to another.
Rantal is skillful with the longbow and shortbow, as well as the staff in melee combat. His magical abilities include the Blue, Crystal, and Azure Ways. He can cast spells with the said magical Ways without having to speak. As he is a Lemur, he can see better than the average \'creature\' can in the dark, and is nimble.
Flaws of Rantal include his distaste of melee combat. He prefers skirmishing to melee combat, and is always fighting in the back unless the occasion is extremely urgent. He is, to put it politely, not the fastest of runners unless he is facing an enemy around twenty times as large or numerous as him. He has a habit of looking for a good place to hide whenever combat arises, but that is not neccessarily a bad thing, unless one counts the number of seconds wasted while he is looking. He is also \'slightly\' insane, as well as not being skillful in the crossbow and throwing knives/spears/stones.
~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~
... Kind of lengthy for a character description, so I\'ll summarize it in the bottom of this post, which is the next paragraph.
Summary
Rantal is skillful in magic, the bow and arrow, and using a staff. He is the \'classic traveler,\' but wanderer suits him better. He is insane and somewhat of a coward, but can fight bravely in the back of the battle. He prefers skirmishes to melee combat, but will go into the brunt of the fighting if occasion demands it.
-
Finally, forum\'s back up. Well, I introduced my character. His name is Aruneko. (surprising isn\'t it?) By the way, he doesn\'t actually know Trefalgr\'s name, even if I included it in my post.
Aruneko
A tall male dermorian of 74 years old, fairly young for an elf, but he\'s like an adult human (elves have eternal youth.) He wields a short sword and a longbow, is clad in the average tunic and things as well as a dark green hooded cloak. He is decent with a sword and skilled with a bow, and could be easily characterized as a ranger (though he isn\'t really attuned much to little forest creatures and the like.) He has little magic skills, can ride horses, and is stealthy and alert. He carries a pack of supplies with him and a quiver of arrows.
-
Kenoss
From the look of his clothing he seems to be a merchant. His pack is always full of odd items that would seem to have no use. There never seems to be a time where Kinoss doesn\'t have any useful item to use at his disposal. Kenoss\' skills are in the areas of cartography and the tinkering and creation of unique items. His most favored weapons are his items but in terms of normal fighting arms it would be a halberd. Kinoss\' origins are not yet known to anyone for he has many secrets of his true identity. The few details of Kenoss that are known is that he seeks a cure for his daugther who is plagued with a strange illness of which only a certain weed can cure. Kinoss seems very interested various traditions, games, and activities of the villages he comes across, writing short descriptions of every town he comes across. Although one might think otherwise, Kenoss is quite agile fighter. He has been known to fight with incredible endurance, speed, and agility when fighting. Kenoss, being a Klyross, loves to practice his flying ability quite often, hoping one day to be the fastest and longest flying Klyross.
-
I\'m sorry I haven\'t posted in the past two weeks. I checked every once in a while the first week and it seemed to be down, so I don\'t know how long it\'s been back up. I can\'t post now, either. I need to go to class, but I will post later today.
Kinoss, is your name \"Kinoss\" or \"Kenoss\"?
-
Ok, I have now posted. Zahtek has returned. Now, some of your keener-eyed characters may notice that Zahtek now carries a large, full pouch on his waste that wasn\'t there before.
-
Okay then, should our characters fight the thugs, go on their way to the next village, call Dandor, settle in the town or another option? Or do we leave that to the uncovering of the story? I am currently confused as to what we are going to do next.
One more thing: Should we have some sort of \'time-measuring object?\' You see, we will need to know exactly when night will fall, and plan accordingly, either in charater or out of character. Of course, it\'s up to whoever is the GM, DM, or whatever you call it of this thread. Unless it\'s a democracy... :P
-
Aruneko will follow them whichever way they go. Maybe there should be an IC vote.
-
I think someone should just go and do something. As for time, I think it\'s a couple hours before nightfall now, so like six o\'clock. We can\'t possibly make it in time to Letranech unless we remember that we all carry teleportation amulets...
(we don\'t really, so don\'t go and say, \"And Kinoss takes out his teleportation amulet and says, \'boy guys, look what I just remembered we all had! Geeze, we\'re so forgetful! Remember, Dandor said, \'now you guys could ride horses and take a long time to get to your goal, or you could just take these teleportation amulets and get there right away\', but we all thought horses sounded cooler!\' With that Kinoss rubs his amulet and is off to happy land\".)
So, anyway, this is basically an improvisation, and when you are doing an improv, one big rule is that you can\'t contradict what someone else says. This means, if someone says it\'s night, it\'s night. Although we could yell at them in the OOC and tell them to change it, but if they don\'t we have to go along with it.
-
LOL... nice ravenmaster. Ya, my name is actually Kinoss and not Kenoss. but in PS it is Kenoss because i made a mistake. Once the mistake is fixed my name will be Kinoss! got it?
-
sorry I haven\'t written anything for a while, I\'ve been so busy I haven\'t had time to even check out where the story is, but I do have some time today, so expect something a little later. Thanks for being patient with me. :D
-
Ok, well, we seem to be stuck on what to do right now. The reason being, we need multiple people doing things at the same time, which is a violation of the rules. I suggest someone (Wormtail_ or Aruneko) give the other permission to use your character and the other one say what happens. Man, I typed something like this before, but when I clicked \"Add Reply\" the site was down, so this message\'s predecessor never got posted.
-
[formal]Aruneko, I grant you permission to use my character the next time you post, under the following conditions. One, you must not get my character killed. Two, you may only control my character while setting the ambush. Three, please have my character either use his longbow, cast spells (any), or taunt the thugs. You may now control my character the next time you post, as long as it is related to the battle.[/formal]
By the way, it doesn\'t matter if my character stumbles or falls of his horse, as long as he isn\'t killed or anything. In fact, it would be interesting to have my character fall off his horse... :P
EDIT: It hardly seems that one needs to post a new reply when he was last to post in that particular thread. So, I will get my point across here. We need Trefalgr to post that his character is in position, and then I think Aruneko and I will lure the thugs into our ambush.
-
I got it under control. Now, ATTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Now, we need Aruneko to post that his character is coming to lure the thugs. :P As long as nobody knocks Aruneko off his horse and charge in to aid my character. :P I feel alone, standing a respectable distance away from the thugs, though the four thugs and I all have horses...
-
There, I posted and nobody has died. (yet)
-
Good, so we\'re finally moving. Whatever happened to Trefalgr, anyway? He hasn\'t posted in quite a while. Anywho, next time I check, if no one has said what happens next, I\'ll do the chase scene. Since Aruneko and Rantal are the primary players, I\'ll give them a chance to say something, though.
-
I believe that Rantal is being a drunken idiot with Aruneko as his boss. Rantal is rewarded with lots of beer, and they are currently faking the fact that they need to bring jewels to a fake Merchant\'s Guild. As soon as Aruneko follows Rantal and the thugs follow, then I believe the chase scene can be put into action.
-
We need to come to some sort of conclusion in the next two weeks, or at least end this chapter, because I\'m going to get out of school and I won\'t be able to check this place for a couple months.
-
I believe that you can have our characters just race pass the ambush and spring the ambush once you say the thugs come into the ambush area. All Aruneko and I have to do is have our characters run past the area, force the thugs to get in the area, and our jobs are done. I don\'t mind if you post that, and I doubt Aruneko will, either. So you, Ravenmaster, or Kinoss and Tfefalgr can post that the thugs get into the area and we can get this over with. As long as we don\'t have our characters suffer any problems...
By the way, should we be allowed to control other characters if the player controlling them does not reply for a set period of time. What do you say?
-
Sorry if I haven\'t posted in a long time. My girlfriend downloaded this really bad virus on to my computer, it deletes random exe files. I still don\'t have it worked out and I hope to soon. So, I haven\'t written anything because of that and because everytime I try to log onto this forum, it can never find it, and I have been preparing for my finals that I finished to day, so I have had problems, as you might have guessed.
So sorry again, it is very late where I live, so I can\'t write anything now, I just logged on hoping for the off chance that my internet worked.
Thanks again!
-
Ah. Sorry to hear about your computer, Trefalgr. I hope that you solve some of your problems. Of course, by the time you read this again you might have already solved them...
So then... in the meantime, while Trefalgr is trying to solve his problems, should we control his character or just leave him in the background?
-
I think the best thing would be to have one person alone control Trefalgr (and their other char, of course.) I vote for Ravenmaster, he seems to understand whats going on. Of course, Trefalgr, if you object to this you can (if possible) decide a method or elect a person yourself. Good luck with that virus.
-
I agree with Aruneko. Ravenmaster seems to be the second-in-command here, as well as the fact that he has the most knowledge of the thread.
Anyway, the thugs are in the ambush area, and need to be attacked in some way. Now then, how many thugs were there left? I think there were 5 in the beginning, one has his head chopped off, now there are 4. Ravenmaster and Kinoss need to attack, and someone controlling Trefalgr\'s character should wake him up and then we\'ll attack.
By the way, should Aruneko and I attack the bandits as well? We\'re kind of outnumbered in the open field 2:1, though...
-
I think its time for those in the ambush party should post now. Don\'t be afraid to advance the story. I\'m tired of having only two people posting on the thread.
-
I\'M BACK!!!
I finished that ambush part, it was dragging on far too long, I hope you all don\'t mind. Demon armies are a much funner fight anyways! :D
-
Excellent. Now that the ambush succeeded and is done with (part about Rantal jumping was completely in character), we have our horses back. Now, where do we go next? Camp on the road or head on to the city after the town with occasional breaks and watches in-between? I had my character suggest that as well.
Congratulations on getting the problems concerning your computer fixed, Trefalgr, if you managed to fix the problem.
-
Sorry I haven\'t posted in a while. It seems I stopped existing for two weeks. No one knew where I was and I have no memory of those ten days or so. I haven\'t read what\'s happened in the story yet, so I\'ll do that, but I can\'t reply right now because I have class in four minutes.
-
What should be done about the weird guy who just posted? He doesn\'t seem like he\'d be a good RPer.
-
I think now we have a good number of people here, however, it is possible that someone cool could come along who actually has read this thread and is good at RPing. Therefore, if someone posts here that they want to join, we should come up with a quiz for them. Each of us could ask one or two questions and then we will vote based on the answers that person gives weather or not to incorporate them into the story.
EDIT: By the way, where\'s Kinoss? He hasn\'t posted in over 3 weeks.
-
Sorry to be posting twice in a row, but I wanted this message to be noticed. Today is my last day of school, so I will no longer have constant internet access and nothing to do. In fact, I will for the most part not even have a computer around. What I am saying is, I will be dissapearing now. I may check every once in a while, but my once glorious, and probably record-breaking reign of average 11 posts a day is now over. It has been for a while actually, but I still have the highest around with almost 5 per day. But that too is over. I shall now fall into the dust and shadows of ancient forums. I leave Zahtek to Trefalgr (until any time in which I shall return) and Dandor to Wormtail_(with the same disclaimer). Have fun guys. I\'m sorry to be leaving you; this story is actually pretty good.
Hasta luego, amigos mios.
-
Goodbye, Ravenmaster... for now. I will send my secret agents to find out where you are hiding, and pull you into a house with computer and the Internet... Mwahahahaha...
Still, we will miss you, Ravenmaster, though you may not be around to read this. Thank you for your contributions to this forum overall, and especially for posting that last post, as we are now informed. I hope that you can get a computer soon... with at least some sort of Internet service provider...
-
Hey guys! sorry for being gone so long. It seems that im leaving again too... I won\'t be back for a little less than a whole month.
-
Well, that was nice. Sorry I used your character, Aruneko. This doesn\'t mean I\'m back, however. I just happened by and decided to post. Please no one use Ravenmaster. Unless I come back sometime during this battle, assume he just vanished or he\'s still fighting somewhere else. I guess you could refer to seeing him fight somewhere, but don\'t make him do anything.
-
Right, now that Ravenmaster and Kinoss are gone, we\'ll have to manage by ourselves again in another battle.
So, what do you say our new allies should be? What should be the strength, type of animal, and so on of our side? I don\'t think we should discuss the strength of the demons, other than random estimates, as it is nightfall and we have made no contact with them yet.
-
Who exactly is still left participating? Can we make a list of people and a list of characters?
-
I was thinking them animuels was jus raccoons an owls an bats an stuff. I don\'t really know what sorts of nocturnal animals there are. Nothing special. Oh, and of course, lots of ravens. Well, I just got lucky and encountered a computer. I\'ll try as often as I can, but I know that in a couple weeks I\'ll be gone for at least two months without a computer. Of course, when school restarts I\'ll be here all the time again. If Trefalgr\'s Secret falls into the dust, I promise I\'ll ressurect it later.
-
If you would like me to edit my reply, then I will gladly do so. I\'m not sure if I should cast an area-effect spell, but if that\'s not needed, then I\'ll edit it.
By the way, I won\'t be here for 2-3 days next week. So, who would like to control my character for me during that time?
-
I\'m still here, I just haven\'t had too much spare time. Give me a chance to read all of what you wrote and think of something creative to write. It will be either today or tomorrow that I reply.
-
I will not be able to post today, tomorrow, and the day after that. If the thread is still going then, somebody (I don\'t care who, as long as they don\'t get my character killed or something similar) will have to control him.
Thank you, and goodbye. For now.
-
The thread is dying... We\'re all doomed... Too many people leaving.
-
Right, I am back.
Now we need ideas to bring the trhead back to life. I\'ll try, but I dislike posting twice in a row. We... need... more... people...
-
...and out of the shadows of the past stepped Ravenmaster, his black cloak billowing rapidly in the unnatural wind that perpetually surrounded him.
From beneath his hooded cloak, a voice like a chill wind spoke, \"I have returned.\"
-
I\'m interested, and I\'m pretty good at message board RP...
If you\'re looking for anyone else I\'d be happy to join. I saw a post about a quiz thing, so I think I\'ll go finish the main thread...
-
*Wanders in Roleplaying Forum*
*Jumps in surpirse*
Ravenmaster... You\'re back! And we have a new roleplayer! And the thread is alve again! Yay!
Bah, I think I\'m late. I\'ll post a replay later.
Anyway, welcome, Mala! I am not the leader of this thread, but I am sure that we are happy to have you join us. Welcome!
EDIT: Right, let me get things straight. The rider and ount are a third party, right? Or is it on a particular side? Also, Mala, are you the Kran? I haven\'t read the posts thoroughly yet, though. Also, Mala, can you post a character description of your character if you are going to join? Basically a brief history, appearence, and so on.
Finally, how powerful are the demons? I have conflicting views of how powerful the demons are, as I generally think that they are powerful beings with a love of fire and death, but we\'re being attacked pretty early. Or is that part of the challenge? Anyway, I know of games with some weak demons, so weak that I am surprised they\'re in the class of demons, but oh well.
-
First, it\'s with an \'i\'. Maia.
Description of my character:
A granite-gray kran that stands about eight feet tall. Its eyes are the same color as its skin, and it doesn\'t really have that much of a background. It came into being, it bought a mace, and it went hunting for some rocks to munch on. I\'ll probably tell more later in the thread.
-
Ah, sorry about that, Maia. Rather short character description, though, but it does, at least, describe the character sufficiently enough so that the physical appearence can be imagined.
... Where did Ravenmaster go?
-
It seems dead... *hears echo*
-
Yes, it is. Ravenmaster just came and went like the lightning...
Us two are now the only \"active\" people, and I\'m still not sure of what to post next. Next, next, next, next...
EDIT: I refuse to let this thread lie down and die! Should we just pronounce the thread resting, or dead, officialy? We need players, much more, advertising in our sigs if need be. Or should we just create a new roleplaying thread altogether?
-
Perhaps a new one with a slightly less stereotypical story...
