Title: Bad graphics on loading new area
Post by: Enonel on July 09, 2008, 12:38:53 pm
Hello,
when I load a new area, my graphics go bad, my character dissappears, all the buildings look like holes where you fall off the world. I need to relog to get the graphics right. And that's really annoying.
Can anyone tell me what's going on?

system stats? have you made sure you have the most updated graphics card drivers?

System stats are:

Processor      : Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.66GHz
Memory      : 511MB
Operating System      :VectorLinux
OpenGL Renderer      : GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8X/AGP/SSE2

I updated my graphics card drivers, no effect.

511 MB is a bit low.  You may be running out of texture memory.  Not sure if upgrading your memory system is an option, but may want to if you can.  How much of a swap file did you give it?  PS takes a lot of memory if you let it.  Do you have "pre-load textures on" or "keep all textures in memory" options set?  You may want to make sure those are off as when I enabled them once, my system started behaving pretty erratic after a few zone changes.
