After the latest update I can no longer enter the Magic Shop area when coming from Hydlaa, the client crashes all times.
The console reads:
planeshift.application.client:
PSLoader: step 5: success
PSLoader: step 6: success
crystalspace.maploader.parse.image:
Could not open image file 'dirt01.dds' on VFS!
crystalspace.maploader.parse.texture:
Could not load texture 'dirt01.dds', using checkerboard instead
[node: world,textures,texture(name=dirt01.dds)]
(0) : fatal error C9999: *** exception during compilation ***
Cg compiler terminated due to fatal error
I tried running the CheckIntegrity option and psupdate.bin was detected as corrupted. It was downloaded, rechecked for integrity and no errors showed up. However there were no additional downloads and the problem still persists.
Is anyone else with the same problem? If so I will add this to the bugtracker.
-
what are your system stats?
-
Linux 2.6.24, ATI X700, Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 2.00GH, 1GB RAM
-
I think I might have something corrupted that is not being detected by the updater in the Checkintegrity analysis.
I'm also getting this error now.
crystalspace.maploader.parse.image:
Could not open image file 'sky-a.dds' on VFS!
crystalspace.maploader.parse.texture:
Could not load texture 'sky-a.dds', using checkerboard instead
[node: world,textures,texture(name=sky-a.dds)]
(0) : fatal error C9999: *** exception during compilation ***
Cg compiler terminated due to fatal error
At the moment I can't login because the game crashes as soon as it starts to load the map. I am stuck in the path between hydlaa east and ojaroad.
-
Just tried with a fresh install of 0.4.01, using the fixed psupdater and the problem persists.
-
can you load any other char? also dont triple post just edit your prior post with the new info. if you can load another character in another map ask a gm to move you /petition or /who game and /tell the gm
-
Petition submitted, I am awaiting for divine intervention now.
Thanks.
PS: I'm still stuck to Hydlaa though.
(edit)
Following your comment on FS#2016 (http://www.hydlaa.com/flyspray_upgrade/index.php?do=details&task_id=2016) I am requesting details on what else should I report in addition to the information I already submitted? This bug is persistent and I can reproduce it every time so what additional information would be helpful to track down the problem?
I already tried with different chars and the problem is still occurring. I tried Klyros and Stonebreaker, different resolutions...
As I said before, this problem started after the latest update. It was working fine before this. Already checked permissions and they are ok. So I'm out of hypothesis...

This is happening to me too. Exact same problem though thankfully I'm not stuck.
The game crashes as I approach the fork in the forest road heading towards the magic shop, going from Hydlaa.
Error message reads:
Something unexpected happened in PlaneShift: Steel Blue
Details: EXCEPTION_INT_DIVIDE_BY_ZERO at 6915FD0D
I'm new to PlaneShift and the game was freshly installed on my machine today - Windows XP, Radeon 9600, Intel Pentium 4 processor 3.00GHz, 2GB RAM
I tried the checkintegrity thing and it came back with no errors.
Updating my graphics driver made the problem worse. Before while it crashed as I tried to cross into the next zone, now I'm stuck like Unode with the game crashing trying to load the zone I'm in. Actually now I can't log into the game anywhere, even with a newly created character.
Error message reads:
Something unexpected happened in PlaneShift: Steel Blue
Details: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION at 02591D4E
It would seem to be a bug related to ATI drivers? I have emailed crash dumps for both errors to Lanarel.

/me sighs
getting it here too. updated, and check integrity, etc. tried a fair number of setting options as well. stuck at the hydlaa-ojaroad boundry
-
SOLUTION
This might be related to a known generic problem with ATI drivers I found elsewhere on the forums. Run pssetup.exe and under Advanced Options - Vertex Buffer Object select Off.
This fixed the problem for me.
-
Most of the ATI problems that I get crash dumps for (see http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=31760.msg379086#msg379086) have numbers arounde 02xxxxxxx and 69xxxxxx. So it seems this is just another occurrence of this. I will check the new dumps sent to me next week (just came back after 4 weeks absence, so I am a bit behind).
-
Any news on this topic? I'm having the same problem and setting the "Vertex Buffer Object" to "off" didn't help in my case.
If it is any help, here are my system stats:
Operating System: Windows XP SP3
Processor: Intel P4 2.5 GHz
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon Radeon X1650 Series
System Memory: 1024 MB
Video Memory: 512 MB
PlaneShift Client: latest client with all updates (0.4.02)
The error message I got equals the one in the previous posts. I don't have a dump file since my system freezes completly and I can't click on any of the PlaneShift-windows (game, console, error-message). I do have a screenshot of the console output if needed...
-
I'm having this problem, too. (I also have an ATI graphics card.)
I would really appreciate an update on this issue because I am basically stuck in Hydlaa and can't really progress in the game. I can't visit the Magic Shop or Ojaveda because the game will crash when loading the appropriate map. The only place I can visit right now is the Arena.
Is there a patch in the making? Is there a work-around? How do other posters that have the same problem progress in the game?
Please Help!

I just started the game and got directions to the magic shop now I can't log in at all as well... just like you guys. OH well my charater name is Dinmegil Murgurth as well as my system is Mac OS X 10.4.11 and I have the newest version =P going to bed now so if some one could ask the GM to relocate me since I don't have another character and honestly would like to some magic shop LOL and since I just joined doesn't matter which town I get lost anyways. Well hope to see you guys later peace.

P.S. I am just glad this isn't a mac issue I finally found a game that could be decent(got to actually play it first to find out) for a mac that is free...
-
Thanks Xalantyr!
I tried setting "Vertex Buffer Object" to "Off" and I was able to get through to the other side of the passage towards Ojeveda!
Hope this gives a clue to what might be wrong with the client.
There are however black patches of strange textures on the ground.

That solution works for me. My system is Fedora 8 with an ATI card.
Before that, I had dozens of crashes, 1 or 2 each time I changed map, and finally I couldn't load bronzedoors at all. Now BD loads, inter-maps crashes are history, and apparently other crashes as well. Nice! Thanks.
-
On my ATI card, it's the other way around. With vertex buffer object OFF, i get more crashes than with vertex buffer ON - yet i still get them no matter what the vertex buffer object setting is. Just not that frequent. It's playable at least..
I'm not sure if the vertex buffer object setting will do anything more than not trigger the real cause in certain cases. As far as I understand it's a shader issue.
-
As far as I understand it's a shader issue.
Shader = Shadow making if im not wrong? ::|
you can try to disable Shadows ingame via Option>Graphics>Shadows
and if im wrong, slap me >.>
-
and if im wrong, slap me >.>
/me slaps Durwyn
the shaders are not used for shadows at all so far, shaders are used to colorize things like the broken hair shader or used in [i think] in many spell effects to make them pretty colors.

Hi,
Downloaded installed and updated the Game today.
System: WinXP SP2 1MB, ATI Radeon 9600XT 256MB - Latest drver set.
Problem: Leaving the town, in any direction apparently, causes an Exception error.
Have tried psupdater with the CheckIntegrity command line, Vertex Buffer On & Off, Maps preloaded (which incidentally raises another issue about not being able to load a region) and maps stay in memory, nothing changes the outcome as of yet.
Am not sure if this falls into the same category as the original post but am loathe to start a new thread for something I hope has been dealt with elsewhere and I am simply not finding the correct thread to resolve this issue.
In anticipation,
Geiger
Edit: Reinstalling Catalyst Drivers - FYI - I generally disable Catalyst - Re-Enabled to test - With CCC / MOM running - Game crashes on load.. Gotta love Catalyst.

have a look at http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=32557.0

I've got these problems, but I have no idea about my graphics card. All this technobabble on the ATI thread makes my head hurt. Just downloaded game after being off for a while, and I was rescued several times by Mektar when trying to go from Oja -> Hydlaa. It seems I can stay in cities, just not leave them.
Macbook, OS 10.5.5, 2.4 GHz Intel, 2 GB RAM... does Intel GMA ring a bell for a graphics card?
Edit:
I've turned vertex shaders off and it's still the same. I don't really understand the whole ATI thing, other than the 'turn VBO off.'
The card is Intel GMA X3100

have you tried the above fix? intel gma is just part of the name not the whole name.

My client crashes when I enter the East Hydlaa area, but thankfully it seems to load correctly after I restart the client. I'm using an Intel 945 Express Chipset graphics card. This seems to be a very bad bug...
