Title: black screen

I'm having problems starting the game.  I downloaded the latest version and the patch listed on the website, and I ran the updater afterwords (the updater worked fine) but when I try to run the game a black screen shows up for about 3 seconds, and then disappears.  It won't let me start the game.  Any ideas?

Windows XP
1.8 Ghz CPU
1014 MB RAM
and a NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 graphics card (128 MB)

I'm sure my internet speed and free dusk space are more than sufficient.

As a note, I've played previous versions of the game (crystal blue, I think) with no serious problems, and I've just reinstalled the game after a period of not playing.  Have the system requirements been updated substantially since then?
