Title: OpenAl32.dll problem...
Post by: savant_hanzo on August 10, 2008, 10:41:02 pm
I couldn't understand some of the solutions offered to other people.  Attempted others to no help.  Some of the solutions that involved opening certain files, I can't get a download or anything for something to open those, seems it's the CTF files.  I just got the main client and the updater fix file downloaded not 10 minutes ago and encountered apparently the same problem many many others have.  I even tried some of the links that were listed in other topics and they were either dead or didn't help.  Hopefully someone can aid me in this with a more up to date or all most fool-proof method.

Hi Savant Hanzo,

I went through very similar problems while installing the game and updater. The following post details what I went through, and might offer help in addition to Caarrie's link-post.

Hope to see you in-game soon!  :)

:oops:Ok, that's really my fault for misreading the post about the link that was posted in the "Updater" topic.  I thought it meant that you had to go into that site and get it from a link there instead of saving it from there.  I can manage to get the PS Updater to work, but since I've just now started it I have no clue if it'll work or not.  Although it seems strange that in the Updater there's -'s appearing next to the percentage which as of 2 min is still 0%, but that hopefully just means it's working.  Gonna leave it for a long while and hope something increases or signifies progress.  Thanks for the help people, and sorry for yet another post on this topic...

I will comment as of now, the link they keep giving people seems to be a mockery of a solution...  Not only has Bubba said the first part doesn't do anything, but there's quite a few that have.  I know there's gonna be a lot of problems in getting a game that's in a "Tech Demo" stage and wanting feed-back to run 100% of the time, but I'd hope a new release of it comes out soon cause around 6 people I know were looking at it and thought it was pretty good, but weren't able to get it download that'll get the error and never deal with the game again unless a new, at least partially functional ones is released.  Just from the looks of some screen shots and some of the features that are currently in effect, it looks as though PS will be quite nice.

I will also state that I gotta give a lot of respect to moderators and administrators on this forum for putting up with so many of these posts, though, as said many many times, a simple:  "Read this post if you experience problems starting the game" that maybe lists some of the more detailed problems and solutions might cut down on some, but sadly not, all of these posts.

If you have any flavor of windows installed as your OS, you can simply right click and go open with and choose wordpad or notepad.  make the change and save the file.  simple as that.  :)

this is completely unrelated to the tech problem, which I add:  SEEMS FIXED!!!! \\o// least as far as the Updater cause apparently the -'s are progress, but neko kyouran, what is your sig/picture thing from?  anything in particular or just a random happy thing you put there?

Don't use Notepad for this, it sucks.  Use Wordpad or something that can recognize a carriage return better.
