Where does the name "PlaneShift" come from anyway? The game doesn't seem to involve shifting between planes of existence, so I'm curious how it connects to the wonderfully inventive and unique world depicted in the game.

Thanks! It does interest me, though it doesn't answer my question :-)

Currently the game doesn't have any shifting between 'planes' but the background story alludes to it. There are the mysterious portals that brought the Diaboli, and Klyros for certain to Yliakum, the 'plane' of the planet was shifted during a monstrous earthquake which opened the cave system to what is known as the stone labyrinths, and the fact that you shift 'planes' upon death until you recieve true death, From Yliakum to the Death realm and back.
So Planeshift has lots of shifting of planes, Just depends on what your defenition of a plane is! ;) :whistling:

I've always been wondering this... Maybe it's because there are eight levels/planes in the stalactite. Or maybe the original developers just thought it sounded cool (which it really doesn't). That would be lame...

Gee.. never thought of that one!
Is there a plan to change the name?
-
maybe a type, they were shifting the plan, and reserved the wrong URL? <heh heh heh> ;D

I certainly hope not! It just wouldn't be PlaneShift if it wasn't called PlaneShift........ actually, maybe saying it just wouldn't be the same would make more sense. ^.^;
