I think that a good idea for the game would be a collection of NPC's that travelled along the routes between Hydlaa and Oja.
If they had Graphics to make them look like travellers (eg, backpacks and other objects) and maybe graphics for some sort of cart or pack animal that could travel with them... That way it adds more NPC's into the areas between the towns (as most of the NPC's are currently bunched around the towns) and gives new players a chance to learn the routes between the towns by following these "trading Caravans" that leave at set times through the day.
its just a thought that will probably not be possible :sweatdrop:

npcs can be set on paths but the issue is a dev has go and plan the path for each npc, so yes someday soon(tm) this will be done. but my guess is not till the maps are more finalized

You may also want to go watch Harnquist for a bit....buggers got a wandering soul. ;)
Thanks for the feedback!
-
I'd just like to throw in my support for this. would be great if there was a group I could follow or at least pass by every so often when I'm traveling between sites. would let me know that I'm traveling the correct route as my time in the world is few and far between that I keep losing my way :)

I've noticed that too... but he doesnt seem to wander off... he just disspears..
-
Yes, I believe this was tested once or twice, and not just on harnquist - if my memory banks are correct... The problem was many npcs would seemingly noclip through the floor. We had a very troublesome time where almost all the npcs were... heh... 'From a land down under.' ;D
A good idea the devs might want to consider that I figured I would mention here is perhaps scripting more then one waypoint for a selected npc. So the npc has a 'selection' so to speak of waypoints he or she may take, just to spice things up, and make hydlaa(and obviously the rest of yliakum) look a bit more busy.

Seems a good Idea, i support that, have travelling merchants going from town to town and guards on patrol, making it more..realistic eh? :D :P
-
I'd like to see the beasts roam a bit, too.
Playing a huntress gets a little boring when I know where to find 'em all. :P

Sounds good especially if we could attack and loot them if we have enough evil faction ;)

yeah.. if you notice that there is a lot of Bandits and Cutthroats along the valley when you first come out of hydlaa towards the Bronze doors.....
if you speak to the Female enki at the top she talks of a caravan they are waiting to ambush... if this was implemented then there really could be a cravan that travels from outsideHydlaa towards the bronze doors or frm the platinum min to hydlaa along the valley.
Then we could host more events, eg it could be part of a quest that we have to help defend this caravan. and it leaves so many times each day and we are given the times.. then we meet up with the caravan and there will be lots of players who are on the same quest working together. or it could simply be that some of the higher level monsters and trainers wabder around the world, becuase at the moment everything is a bit static and Hydlaa doesnt look very busy
-
There should be a weekly quest for the caravan, to guard, or attack it. Now that I would do. But beware, for entertainments sake I would be the bad guy.

way points for NPC's of all types is a brilliant idea.
perhaps focus on the NPC's on flat ground for now , as the slopes are very buggy.
and as for the mobs we kill reguarly.
perhaps they could have a cube sized or some sort of polygon range they spawn in, that is randomized
to add some diversity.
it would be great if the beasts and rouges and things roamed , but the amount of times they get stuck on the slopes while fighting them now is pretty sad.
i would still like to see attacking NPC's strafe left and right more while they try to hunt you when they get stuck. but this problem will mostly get auto fixed when the maps are tidied up
-
Surely it would be possible to mark out areas where the beast can/cant go...
eg. Can only stay in the hydlaa plaza or can only go so far from a certain point.
-
some monsters seem to give up the chase after a certain distance
depending on their power , they can give the chase for many loading zones
-
I believe that it will be that NPC's will have a set of paths they roam depending on the time of day, season etc... and Monsters will have a random roaming area and random sporning area, and will either chase or run depending on their strength etc verses yours...
-
Realistically speaking, not every beast will be intelligent enough to know if it's stronger or weaker than you, either. Anyone else ever notice how persistent the rats and gobbles in the sewers are? :P
