Title: Yet Another Problem With OpenAL32.dll
Post by: dragonexpert19 on September 18, 2008, 11:00:11 pm
I know that tons of people have posted about this; I've looked at their topics, but nothing seems to work for me.  I have read the "Updater" sticky.  I ran a CheckIntegrity command.  I replaced the UpdaterInfo.xml document.  I downloaded the patch.  It still doesn't work.  Sorry if all of this has already been solved already, but I ran a search: nothing worked for me.

Great thanks to anyone and everyone who helps!

Sorry that I didn't post the system stats; I was in a flurry and a fluster, as I had to go when I posted.  Alright:

OS:  Windows XP Home Edition
System RAM:  512MB
Processor:  Intel Celeron CPU @ 1.60 GHz
Graphics/Video Card:  Intel 82945G Express
Memory free:  Over 30GB
DirectX Version: 9.0
I used a mirror to download the game (not sure which one).

Note:  I was able to play it on a computer whose stats were worse than this one (albeit slowly).

Anything else you need to know?

UPDATE:  A kind person sent me a link to a version that should work; I'll uninstall the game and try the version that they sent me.

if you only have 512mb ram how can you have over 30 gig free memory? Planeshift does not use directx so that does not matter.

you have 30gig free harddrive space ;)

Er...  That was what I was saying...  When I said "Memory," I intended it to be taken as "Hard Drive," not Random Access Memory.

Anyway, the link that Durwyn PMed me worked, so it doesn't matter anymore.  Now I just need to wait for the servers to come back up.  ^_^

Mods can lock or delete this now, if they so desire.
