Well, thanks to Durwyn, I finally got PlaneShift installed properly. However, when I try to make a new character, my computer restarts. I sent in an error report to Microsoft, and it said it was a problem with a USB Port that nearly caused the Blue Screen. This makes no sense whatsoever, as I had nothing in the USB ports, and I have Automatic Updates on- therefore, all of my drivers are up-to-date. Furthermore, this only ever happens when I try to play PlaneShift. I'm starting to wonder if it just doesn't like me. ._.
It doesn't seem to happen at any specific stage of Character Creation; I almost made it through once, whereas another time it happened as soon as I clicked "Create New Character." Also, I don't seem to be doing anything; it often happens before I can even click.
System specs:
Windows XP Home Edition
512 RAM
30GB+ Hard drive space free
Intel 82945G Integrated Video/Graphics card
PlaneShift version 4.0.01
Ah, with a bit of computer-sleuthing, I found an error report (It seems to be the same error repeated):

go to intels website and make sure you have the most updated drivers for _their_ website not microsoft.
-
Thank you very much for that; I'll do that now.
Alright, I updated my drivers, but it still messed up my computer. Also, I was wrong; I'm running PS 4.0.02, not 01.

hi again dragon ;o)
what happens if you choose the "Quick Way" to make a character? (not sure of the name =S)
-
I don't know. I doubt it would make a difference, though- it often messes up before I would have a chance to click that.
EDIT: Well, I managed to do it before it crashed on me, and it didn't crash that time. Yay!
