Title: Problem connecting.
Post by: Ansen on October 14, 2008, 12:25:02 am
Hey guys!
I kinda need a little help to connect in game.
Here is the deal:

1-My updater was buging. So I followed the instructions at the topic:Read here if your updater is not working or you are missing openal32.dll
                                                                                               http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=33701.0(if you wanna check)
2-After this it worked but didn't worked.I will copy what it says:

"Downloading update file:
md5sum of client zip does not match the correct md5sum
Couldn't read file this/updaterinfo.xml.bak
Failed to remove file this/updaterinfo.xml.bak
Update finished!"

3-My game say I don't have the correct version. If you can help me please post here.

---EDITING---
I already searched in the forum but i didn't found anything related to this.

Thank you.Cya!

try manually deleting or moving the .bak file out of the planeshift directory then re-run the updater

The file updaterinfo.xml.bak doesnt exist.
I did a full search in my PC and found nothing.
How can I fix it?
Any idea?Just tried to reinstall the game and still the same problem.

Hi

i had the same problem, try deleting the psupdater.cfg file, it worked for me

Have fun

edit: no, it still wont work in the end, it probably fails to read and delete the ~.xml.bak file, as it dosent exist...

if the bak file doesnt exist, have you tried copying the updaterinfo.xml and renaming the copy updaterinfo.xml.bak?

It is also always a good try to run the updater with CheckIntegrity parameter (The parameter is case-sensitive). Have a look at the quote in this recent post http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=33887.0

The latest download from SoftPedia linked on the front page does not have the proper installation setup... as if it is an internal release version without the updaterinfo.xml
I had the same problem until I downloaded it from elsewhere.
The one on Softpedia is version 0.3.020... latest public version is 0.4.020 ( I think)

check this link for direct downloads:

http://www.planeshift.it/download.html#windows

scrolling up or down shows other download ways and OS options. for the US I suggest Xordan server as the others are dreadfully slow.

The Softpedia Link does not contain the correct download despite several emails they havent updated their site since November 2007 however immediately below that link is the correct links to the current version.
