I second that!

I learned a great deal from Keith's youtube broadcast! This would be a great link to post in those "WTF is taking so long?" or "Why isn't this implimented?" or "This game is so frustrating!" threads. Perhaps it will help those new to the game understand the time, resources and work that goes into this game with the little staff PlaneShift has. Nice work Keith and Andrew! My thanks again to UTM for posting, otherwise I might never have seen this youtube broadcast. :)

It seems like this might be a way to pull in more volunteers. I wish the video (at the beginning, around minute 10, I haven't watched the whole thing yet) had explained what the game really was a bit more. It seemed to be based off of someone's imagination instead of what the real "problem" or "evil force" was.

Oh Noes! You've been spotted Vengeance. Quick run that way while I show Caarrie a shiny and distract her from sentencing you to no life and the only fun you can have is finding joy in finally fixing some stubborn old bugs!
/me dangles a shiney in front of Caarrie's face :P

From a top-down level, that was a really interesting discussion of the structure of the server(s) and the project.

Cheers mate,

I think this will be quite informative for many folks in various fields as well as curious fans.

I wonder when they let me have my talk on the death of roleplay, literacy, and attention . . .

(this is all a cleverly disguised thread bump)

I liked it.  Even though I know nothing about code, I learned quite a few things about the game's development.  And to boot, I now have a face to attach to Vengeance.

I was wondering where I could get some of the slides for this presentation. I want to watch it again and pick up on the finer points, but it had a LOT of good information in it.

Greetings,

I also just watched this yesterday, very nice. Thanks for the time and effort Vengeance (and people behind the scenes)! I was impressed by the need/hate system used to control npcs. Simple and effective, yet quite realistic if you think about it. And events affecting these values are only limited by imagination. I couldn't help but think ulbernauts getting some this.hate++ when spotting a traveller with ulbernaut hide on his shoulders. That's in the future of course, but I'm positively surprised how you've taken these things in consideration from the beginning. And now I finally understand the "super" in npc superclient. :)

Again, good work, and thanks UtM for posting.

Best wishes,
 - Cherppow

Great comment Cherppow!  :-)  It really appears you did get a lot out of it.  I love the idea of Ulbernauts hating players more who are wearing Ulber hides.  A very PS-ish idea imho.  :-)  Thanks for watching.
