Title: Sticky Guild Situation
Post by: Ilea on November 09, 2008, 11:24:39 pm
I wanted to join a guild so I would have a "place" to belong. So I took the first offer. However, I've learned that the guild leaves least to be desired and after reading, hearing and seeing more about it I realize I made a mistake in joining. I feel uncomfortable to leave b/c I don't want to make any enemies. Is it ok to leave a guild? Can I join another one after? And, what is the command to remove yourself from the guild as I cannot find it in the manual?

Thank you.

Thank you. So do they remove me or do I remove myself? If yes to the latter what command do I use?

You can also check the Guilds Forum (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?board=18.0) to get an idea of what kind of guilds are out there and which may have what you are looking for.

This is true, however many of those guilds are inactive - including the active ones.

My advice is to spend time in game.  Whenever someone does something you like, make a note of what guild the character is in.

Yes, the Guild Forum thread is large and I don't see many of the names appearing above the players I meet (unfortunately they are the guilds I would like to join, go figure). As well, I always hear about a poster in Hydlaa that has all the guild names on it. Yet I have not been able to locate it. Does the poster still exist in the city?

Thanks.
(By the way, I was able to get out of the guild w/o any messes. The leader was very understanding)

There are no posters or billboards in game... there's just the forum.  They were probably trying to be clever by referring to the forum without going out of their character.

Btw you might not see some guild names flying around in the air because the guilds in question are now secret. If case you want to join one, you can post in their forum thread here and see if they reply.

Zanzi: yes there -are- 'posters' ingame. In the form of books stuck to walls :P

There also be kiosks in all the cities- Hydlaa has one- where one may post a notice, look for missing friends, or, well, even tack up vague threats and strange riddles. Take care to bring yer own paper and pen, as many of the notices get torn down. I ferget what the path to the bulletin board of Hydlaa and the other cities be, but I be sure some here remember much more than I be capable of just now.

Upon the topic of joining a Guild, ay, I suggest talking to folks as well. 'Tis how I have found my new guild , to whom I be apprenticed and grateful for the opportunity. Think ye well what efforts ye may wish to add, what skills ye may want to learn and practice, or what talents ye offer, then ask folks whom might be the ones to talk with. There be much to learn and experience in this land!

Good luck to ye!
