Title: Furniture
Post by: karnafe on December 09, 2008, 12:35:25 pm
Is it possible to make furniture usable outside of guild houses for RP purposes?

What do you mean usable? You can use furniture outside a guild house, just there are too many people who could pick it up ;) (when it's no longer guarded)

I think karnafe means storing items in cupboards and such ;)

sorry for the confusion yes Aiwendil like that, also if you buy a table you cant put anything on it
collision detection i think i maybe called????
my idea was being able to set up my own merchant table or such,
or something similar although temporary, could be fun

you can drop your table (Lol) on ground and try to aim your sales on it, no other choice for the moment ;o

If we have it the other way someone might erect a wall of cupboards and drawers. That while amusing might be a bit RP disruptive for some.

Not sure how easy this would be to implement, but perhaps it could be coded so that certain items "work" with the tables. You could purchase a merchants table and when you use it together with your items, it will automatically display them....sort of like a storage device. The buyer can rightclick on the table and see the items, while some sort of generic "merchant-display" texture could be on the surface of the table.

This way you don't have to enable collision detection and have some silly person build the Taj Mahal of Small Tables (not gonna lie..i would probably try to do this  ;D )

Collision detection for items will ONLY work in guild halls and no place otherwise for now due to issues with then being able to get to places you should not be able to. this is a ruling per talad and the gm team that was decided at the time this feature was made.

The first thing the gms and devs did when we were playing with furniture before you got it, was to build a ladder to heaven. That damned thing was in the npc room forever too!
