Title: New Character gets tutorial info but starts out in the town square & a question
Post by: gatefold313 on December 14, 2008, 08:27:30 pm: Today I decided to start a new character and went through the character generation without any problems. However when I finished the game loaded the town square but gave me the tutorial text. Then when I went to buy from Harnquist the tutorial text continued as if I had clicked on the first person you encounter in the tutorial. I'm not really sure what the intended result is here, either you start out on the tutorial everytime or characters made after the first are not subject to the tutorial. As far as steps to reproduce this I didn't do anything besides start a game as a (edit) Hammerwielder with lots of focus in mining and earthy type customization options.
I'm wondering also, perhaps from someone who has had experience in this, what constitutes writing a bug report. Do you post your problem here first and then get permission to write a report?

Post by: Prolix on December 14, 2008, 08:36:19 pm: If this was on an account where you had a previous character which went through the tutorial this is a known bug and need not be reported again.

If you are new to the game it does not hurt to post here first but you do not need permission to post on the bugtracker. Do a search of the tracker for your problem before you post, usually try a few different keywords in successive searches as you may not get a hit the first time. if after making a reasonable attempt to find a posted bug then you can write up your own. It may still wind up being a duplicate but that is ok, if your information is new it will be added to the previous bug with dependency and closed. If there is no new information it will likely just be closed.

I searched for 'new character tutorial' in the bug section but came up with nothing immediately relevant. Thank you Prolix for the answer to my queries and thank you Caarrie for the link to the bug.
