I think I'm stuck at a point where I cannot progress my character to be able to mine. I started out with a character with very low mining skill at level 0. I then went to Harnquist to train so I could mine but it didn't progress me a level. The green bar is only about halfway and still I'm a level 0. I can't any message but "you dont see a good place to dig" even in areas that I know for a fact are good digging spots. Help please.
Edit: I also went back to Harnquist with plenty of PP and got the message that I couldn't train the skill any further.

Have a look here http://pswiki.xordan.com/index.php/Gameplay_FAQ#Training_Questions (http://pswiki.xordan.com/index.php/Gameplay_FAQ#Training_Questions)
A good explanation how training works in PS

If the bar is already green the theoretical knowledge can't be the problem and the progression points were spent correctly, too. The problem seems to be that he/she can't get any practical knowledge from mining. If I remember correctly there were some problems with some skills (mining?) while they are still at value 0.

Just out of curiosity, did you use the quick character generation method whereby all your skills started at 0? (a separate but possibly related bug)

Also, need to ask the question, what are you typing? If you type (or shortcut) wrong, you will also get that message. I have ran into a few people who were trying to "/dig steel" at the iron mine for example. I have also helped people who were typing "dig iron" without the slash.... and once, even a "/dig" attempt.
A review of info that might be helpful, can be found herehttp://www.yliakum.com/index.php?topic=11.0 (http://www.yliakum.com/index.php?topic=11.0)
Remember, Yellow is bad, train till all red and green, then practice until yellow comes back, and then go get more training, eh?

Ive been away awhile and haven't gotten a chance to play. I am typing "/dig iron, gold etc." I also did not do random character generation, I didn't put any focus in mining to start so I started with a 0 in mining. The most logical explanation is that it does have to do with the game not allowing 0 level characters to mine even if they have trained in it. Which is a huge bummer because I am stuck never being able to mine unless I make a new character.

this is not true, you can mine at lvl 0 skill you just need to visit your local mining trainer and be fully trained from the trainer before you can mine.

Other than that, I would suggest that you submit a bug report if you've dotted your 'i's and crossed your 't's. If you're CERTAIN that you're digging in the right spots, and you're CERTAIN that you're doing it right, then you're CERTAIN that you have a bug.
Use the /screenshot to get the screenshots of what is happening. Where to send them? I forget, and it's not easily found on the site. Caarrie can probably tell you where to send them - but do a bug report first. That way when you send the images you can say, 'related to bug FSxyza'.
Of course, if in doing all of this you find out you're messing up... don't sweat it. The docs are downstairs, in the unused lavatory in a file cabinet marked 'guarded by leopard'. :-) Working on that...

Did you even look at my response? It seems unlikely, looking at your response.
Also noting you have not been on since, I am going to assume you figured it out. It would be nice to have you come in and explain what you did wrong and how it was fixed (or if it was a bug) so this thread would be of value to others. Wouldn't it be nice to make it useful so in a month when another finds this thread, they see what fixed the alleged problem?
Personally I think my previous response would of fixed it, if you had actually checked it out. If not, you, and anyone else, can add info to it to make it even more helpful.
A lot of people want help, few want to help others with the knowledge they pick up along the way.
C'est la vie
level 0 people can and do mine. Of course they dont stay level 0 for long......

Just to add, if you are returning after a long break, it is entirely possible that the ores are exhausted in the spots they used to be plentiful. Make sure to ask any miners around what they are currently trying to get at a particular spot.
