It seems that a number of people are worried about the potential for guildhouse farming. Essentially, a guild can only own a single guild home, but a guild of alts is just as entitled to a house as any other guild. Moreover, the rules allow for guild members to form alt-guilds for the sole purpose of bidding on houses.
This might be a problem, or it might not be a problem. I haven't made up my mind yet. But rather than pollute another thread, I'm creating a new topic for discussion.

first this section of the forum is for those that are adverisiting their guild not discussion about guild issues in general, second it is up to the gm and dev team to check if the guild that wins an auction can have it, given the millions of tria most have sold for i dont think it would be possible for guilds to make an alt guild just to buy a guild house.

Oh. We've had threads like this before in this forum, by request of the moderators. I thought I was going out of my way to follow the rules. If I'm in error, please don't hesitate to move the thread.
Second it is up to the gm and dev team to check if the guild that wins an auction can have it, given the millions of tria most have sold for i dont think it would be possible for guilds to make an alt guild just to buy a guild house.
That's really two different issues.... I think everyone knows that it's up to the GMs and dev team to decide what happens, that kind of goes without saying, the question is what effect house farming (if it happens) might have on the guild community. Also, the devs can look at discussions like this one and take their cue from it if they see something of value.
As far as the expense of it, I can't really say, but it seems like there are some very rich guilds out there, otherwise people wouldn't be worried about the possibility of house farming.

I've heard rumor of a few guilds going for a second house and I've no doubt that some of those rumors are true.

Seeing as how the PTB keep emptying boxes of platinum on that hill to keep the peasants busy...money can't be all that important.

Yes. One rumor I heard was that at least one guild is going to attempt to buy as many houses as possible.

As I said before in the other thread we have resold a guildhouse bought with an alt guild so that person could have a house to himself, currently we work on a one guild one house ratio.
BTW These rumours, I have only heard about this in these two threads, nothing ig or irc so I'm guessing that there isnt really a problem to discuss

I am not sure about the channels this information is passed on in-game but maybe you are listening to the wrong channels. :-X

Ok, I will be pleased if the auctions go well and we don't have guilds owning more than one house in the end. All I meant to say was that it's better to take this warning/rumour/whatever seriously now instead of going into the trouble to hunt down the cheats later.

As I said before in the other thread we have resold a guildhouse bought with an alt guild so that person could have a house to himself, currently we work on a one guild one house ratio.
Hate having to quote myself with emphasis so soon after posting, also until the auctions actually start take place and bidders come forward there is nothing we can do, no one to hunt down, so to speak.
Of course if the Octarchy does find a guild trying to dominate the auctions then theres no telling what could happen, sequestration of guild assets, disbanding, the Octarchy is a cruel mistress

Considering most of these guilds are OOC, and they're alt guilds, I really don't think the Octarchy could do anything about it. You GMs can, though.

I think you missed something there.
Guilds are IC whether they like it or not, and if they join in with an IC auction then they must expect an IC reaction
