I just have to dediacate this thread to what in my oppinion was simply my favorite game ever....
it might have been that i was young when i played it and that it took me so bloody long to complete(this was b4 i knew about guides)
well i just have to say that no game can compare to the amout of fun i had playing game...
(this was written by a DotT Freak) ^^
-
Here, here! I\'ll second that.
A true classic, a great, cleverly written game and genuinely very funny too, from what I remember :D
-
Ah yes, the glory days of LucasArts.
Really enjoyed that game, plus Sam&Max hit the road. Which is also fantastic.
-
that way my absolute first game i\'ve ever bought!!!! it\'s G R E A T !!!
-
Absolutely.
it was Day of the tenticle, Sam n Max, Monkey Island, Indiana Jones & the hunt for lost atlantis.. etc
These products stole several years from my life X(

dont get me started on how much i loved maniac mansion. that is the best game ever on the nintendo. day of the tentacle is the sequel right? i never played it. i feel like ive missed out on alot.
-
We have a set of some lucas art games, I think it comes with Last Crusade, Maniac Mansion, Zak McKrakin, Loom, and The Secret of Monkey\'s Island (my personal fav) . All very fun, I think I still have them on my computer too.
-
lucas arts (was) is my favourite brand of games ...too bad they don\'t support linux ...but hell, as long as linux supports lucas arts, we\'re ok :D (scummvm is a port/emulator of scumm).
i have these l.a. games:
- loom (from lucasfims!!!)
- monkey island 1&2 (my neighbour has 3&4, but they\'re not the same)
- dark forces (not that grand, they kinda blew it when they started making only star wars games :()
- day o th tentacle and manic mansion
i heard that there was suposed to be a DOTT 2 - a sequel to DOTT which would play in sibiria where the purlpe tenticle escapes to (not seen in DOTT 1) - but it\'s probably just a joke; if not, i HAVE to have this game!!!
-
I have dark forces 1, 2, & Jedi Outcast. Too bad i let a friend borrow them.... Another friend has the origional X-Wing.

Hey btw DotT in my opinion was much better than maniac mansion, it had a lot of humor in it. I actually started playing it as soon as it came out im 14 now so i was very very young. i was brought up around computers, in stead of playing with toys i was playing games ^^ it was great but i t really eats up the time and messes up my eyes.
Have u eva played a game so good that u play it non stop, forget to eat and miss the entire sleep leaving u to go to sleep hungry. this might be a bit wierd but thats what happened with most of lucas art games.
Hey has he totally stop making games now?
i have to ask this question i played a demon of a pc game ages and ages ago with a playable demo of a bluebyte game which was like a board game i have no idea of the game name has any one got any ideas. i luved that game so much when i was younger im up for searching the shelves for it just for a larf.
bbtw. in the game u go around a board after u role the dice searching for a lil dot on the board on the way u spend money on loadsa stuff. so ne ideas...cheers

Well DotT is actually Maniac Mansion 2, the humor was kept more or less the same, only that with the help of the good voice acting, the SVGA display and the smooth animation the jokes were brought to a whole new level. I actually played Maniac Mansion for the first time during DotT (If you played it you will surely remember, it is included as a mini-game, inside DotT, a very neat detail :))
I enjoyed Sam & Max more though. I awaited for a sequel for years and years until I gave up, seeing that the popularity of adventure games slowly started to decrease. Right about now, the amount of decent adventure games released in one year can be coutned with the fingers of one hand. A shame, really. Those are really fun games to play. I guess their lack of replayability ended up killing them though. But a few games managed to get around that. For example, Blade Runner had multiple endings (I heard, more than a dozen? I might be wrong, I never played it) and every time you started a new game the \'good guys\' and the \'bad guys\' were different. There were many characters and they were scripted so as to change their behaviour every time the game was reset.
Anyway, I am sure with lots hard work and effort Lucas Arts would be able to design a fun, replayable adventure game. Until then, adventure games fans are doomed to go through old classics in order to get some satisfaction. And you know how hard it is to get hold of one of those jewels from the past. Whatever happened to Sierra and Lucas Arts\' battle to be the greatest company at the making of adventures? Will we ever get the chance to play such games again? Will they attempt to revive the genre without the use of deplorable sequels? (Monkey Island 4, anybody? What a disappointment, I must say)
A few list of favourites for the ones looking for Adventures:
- Monkey Island I, II & III (They should really stop carrying puzzles from one game to the other, however)
- Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis (Simply amazing)
- Discworld (Funny as hell, I am yet to finish this one...Left it somewhere on Act IV)
- Maniac Mansion I & II (II more known as...yes you guessed! Day of the Tentacle!)
- Sam & Max: Hit the Road (Hilarious)
- The Dig (Didn\'t play it, they say it wasn\'t that good. Many complained about it not being humorous...but people...it wasn\'t meant to be! It was supposed to be an interactive sci-fi cartoon. Spielberg wanted to make the movie at first, I heard, but the budget was too high for him...wow...imagine that!)
- Full Throttle (Didn\'t play it either. Good critics, it was generally accepted that it ended TOO SOON)
- Touch? (If you like old France, and \"The Three Musketeers\" by Alexander Dumas, this is for you!)
- Flight of the Amazon Queen (One of the latest adventure games, I reckon)
- Police Quest series (Sierra!)
- King\'s Quest series (Sierra again!)
- Leisure Suit Larry (I never played any of these, but I wanted to...I swear!)
- Prisoners of Ice (I loved this one...some \"action sequences\"...nice graphics, interesting cutscenes...it was dubbed to Spanish and yet I enjoyed it!)
- Grim Fandango (First full 3D adventure game? The interface is quite frustrating at first, you can work around that. Being \'Death\' for a while is fun :D)
- Hollywood Monsters (Spanish game. Very nice...however certain puzzles seem to be unsolvable at first...or without a walkthrough...there should be an English version around)
- There are many first person adventure/puzzle games, like Zork, or Congo. Never really got attracted by them, so I can\'t honestly say if they are worth it ;)
Well...I\'ll finish with today\'s rambling by saying:
Give us more adventure games!
Oh and some new single player RPGs would be nifty as well. There has been an impressive amount of online games, but I feel Single-Player RPGs like Baldur\'s Gate or Icewind Dale have been a wee bit neglected since the boom of MMORPGs. Just my thought ^_^
Okay, see you all around. I\'ll go back to my little dark cave I like to call \'my home\' now.
-
Oh, Lode Runner is good too. :D Thats made by serria also. I played the demo of \"Full Throttle\" pretty fun.
-
i just wanna say i did know that they were the same series but for some reason i always say them like that....and that mini game was kool but it always crashed when i got really far =( and your right the humouress voices made alot of difference to the game.

i wish lucasarts (and maybe even sierra) would open source their classic games :(
-
As long as people buy the games the developers won\'t open source them. It doesn\'t matter though, just stea...I mean, borrow it from kazaa.
-

*cough*aw.localhost.ee*cough*
thats an abandonware site, though i somehow question their abandonware rule. Great adandonware is on there, but if you look further you might spot the few stray not-so-adandonware game.
You didn\'t hear this from me, .... no wait, you did hear it from me.
EDIT: what the, the url doesnt work anymore, guess someone found out that they aren\'t that much abandonware as they say they are and shut the place down. Oh well, *goes back to eating chocolate*
