Rodef Emet was on the run from his past. After leaving his former guild, tragically doomed to destruction because of its strict hierachy, he found many others with similar experiences, and decided on a solution: A guild without ranks, without a hierachy. A guild where everyone was equal, regardless of experience or ability. A guild of victims of the hierachy. A guild of Exiles. No, he thought, that wasn't quite it. A guild of Equals!
One will be a fully egalitarian socialist guild. There are no ranks, and everyone is equal. The guild's ideology is based on Marx's principle: Each to his own ability, each for his own need.
The Guild Rules are as follows:
1) All members of One are expected to fulfill (if able) any reasonable request given to them by a fellow guild member.
2) All members are expected to help the guild in whatever way they can, be it crafting, magic, battle, mining or any other special skills.
3) All members are to respect all sentient life, as well as all beings' undeniable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
4) One as a guild does not condone violence in any form other than in self-defence, the defence of a fellow guild member or the defence of a friend.
5) All members are expected to treat all beings decently and with respect.
6) Preaching is forbidden. All beings are entitled to their own beliefs, but we kindly ask that you refrain from forcing yours on others.
7) Any member who is unable to fulfill a guild expectation is excused from the requirement to do so.
8) Any member who is able and does not fulfill a guild expectation or who breaks a guild rule will be given a warning. Repeat offenders will be banished from the guild.
9) Honesty is paramount. Any member who falsely denies breaking a guild rule or not fulfilling a guild requirement will be banished from the guild without receiving a warning.
If you are interested in founding the guild with me, please post here.
Sincerely,
Rodef Emet
PS: Our name is now just going to be One, due to complaints about the name.

There will be a guild master who has control of all other levels and only one player can occupy that slot. If all levels are given full permissions over rights, or if everyone is promoted to the secondary level, chaos will follow at some point. Recruit *very* carefully, for you will be infiltrated and destroyed from within. Equality of this sort is a pipe dream, as there will always be someone who has more property/control than everyone else. As with practical implementations of communism, the main point seems to be to convince everybody else that they are equal, so that one can then control their property and tell them what to do. The only way that this can be achieved is to make everyone the same rank and only allow the guild master control over various rights. That becomes a dictatorship. If you then expand the rights to a secondary level to allow for middle-management, then it becomes an oligarchy. Hopelessly flawed, just like Marx.

It depends on what you mean by equality.
I think that you are using a very different sense of equality than the original poster is.

lol Shadowcarn Acolyte i know your real name.
nice idea for rules, but the name needs to be changed.
i really dont know what your obsession with angels and stuff is. but its annoying.
-
new rule
12: worship the almighty grand leader and hea commissar tom206
-
Tom: I know who you are too. I know a lot about you. I know about the school project that you did on Lenin. My obsession with the Fallen Angels is related to a bunch of old legends that I'll explain to you in person. No rule 12, but it does sound a lot like you. Do you want to join or not?
-
i do want to join, it sounds cool. lol
i want to be stalin or lenin
-
i dont really think old legonds have much to do with communissim, maybe the name should be the league of planeshift communists
-
Now we're being called "The Fallen" as we were shunned by those capitalist pigs :P. Also, we're socialist, not communist.
-
ah those evil capitilist pigs.
by the way, by trying to inpose rules on everyone to be equal and fair and helping in this group isnt it contrary to the ideas of marx, isnt the idea of a guild contray to this as well
also i speek for every one when i say GET A BETTER NAME
-
Now we're being called The Circle
-
i made up the name also charicter in games name atighais soges.
-
Unless the GMs have a problem, I'm going to call it the Circle anyway, because its a cool name and one of the only ones that tom206 and I can agree on.
-
Just to remind you guys that the Circle is a currency unit of the octarchy, worth 250 trias.
-
That's mere coincidence. Your name also sounds like something that people walk through, but I'm assuming that nobody tramples you.
-
i wanted the triangle order or maybe the dochechaderdron order
-
I thought there was already a guild called <The Circle>.
-

More than you think, specially if you know my full name. ;)
But the coincidence of the Circle I mostly noted having read the political statement in your guild description. You name your guild the way you like it, but I thought you might have not noticed; it sounds a bit like a socialist group called the Pound, the Dollar, the Peso or the Tugruk. :)
-
Sounds like a nice idea for a guild :)
-
well we do need more members........
-
We now have a new name: "One"
-
I don't know why this is worth mentioning but a "Zero" looks like a circle too.
-
it is actully
THE ONE.
to show that we are all one and equal
-
at this moment i will eb second in command of the guild.
i will be head commissar, and leader of the military wing of the one
-
Tom was kidding about that last post. We're all equal and there won't be a military wing
-
yes there will, i want to lead the eventul guild coup that will touple you and send you into exile in the planeshift equivilent of mexico
-
Please stop lowering my faith in humanity.
-
its what i do best
-
Yes Tom. I know that lowering people's faith in humanity is what you do best. There will be no coup. Please stop kidding around.
-

So I have been told if you wish to play again, YOU must make your own fun and not depend on others to make it happen.
-
So you've changed your mind, Eisu? Sure you can join!

What a great thread to make such a comment in! Imagine for a moment please, that fun is a valuable commodity. If everyone is consuming and not producing it then there will be none left. The combined efforts of a group or even an individual to produce this commodity is not hard work, on the contrary, it is easy and enjoyable to do. Why be the leech getting your fun on welfare from others when you can make your own homebrew? As Shaw once said in Candida, "We have no more right to consume happiness without producing it than to consume wealth without producing it."
-
So typical of the Planeshift forum community; to argue over the silliest things because of the passion you have for the game. I say you should agree to disagree and hopefully a new guild will emerge and be successful. We can all agree that Planeshift could use that whatever its name.
-
"We have no more right to consume happiness without producing it than to consume wealth without producing it."
Happiness is not a commodity. If it were, it could be bought and sold. It is an ephemeral phenomena that has nothing to do with people producing it, and others using or wasting it. A what-if sort of analogy tends to obscure, rather than clarify.

Not to mention arguments over how people argue!

We know what to do to produce the feeling of pleasure, in ourselves at least, right? If we take this as true then we can, if we happen have an altruistic bent, do things to bring about pleasure in like-minded people. Perhaps people that play a particular online game we also have a taste for?

Hey Rodef,
You've mentioned in game that you have enough people interested in founding the guild, but the only problem now is getting the minimum number online at once. We almost made it last weekend. ;)
Other players interested in joining, please contact Rodef in game as well, to help improve the odds.
-
Hey im new could i join?
