which one will you spend most of your time playing on?

Laanx. On the Talad server I'll just test and do silly things.

there is no server named "talad" :P so do as many funny/silly things you want.
-
I call it Talad because it's the logical name as the first server was named Laanx. We don't refer to the first server with "Fragnetics" a lot, so why would we refer to the second as ezpcusa. Try to pronounce the word. And you might notice practically nobody gets the spelling right, not even devs :P
I imagine in the future there might be servers called Dakkru, Xiosia, etc.
-
well in the official servers.xml it is not named talad so to keep from confusing people it is best to not call it talad.
<serverlist>
<server name="Fragnetics (RP)" ip="laanx.fragnetics.com" port="7777" />
<server name="Ezpcusa (Non-RP)" ip="planeshift.ezpcusa.com" port="7777" />
</serverlist>

Laanx. Maybe. The connection to "Talad" feels so much more solid though...
-
I'd pronounce it esp-sus-a with the emphasis on the second syllable. Of course I'm not here, I'm there so I should ignore this thread....
-
I will mostly play Laanx, and sometimes visit the other server.
I will roleplay and do some leveling on Laanx.
On Ezpc I will be random and level a bit :)
-
Laanx. Talad isn't a real server.
Besides, PlaneShift is fun because of the community. There's no community on Talad.
Then again, maybe a year from now Talad will have an average of 200 people online at any given time...
-
Zanzibar... have you actually been on the new server, or are you just running your mouth again? People have been much friendlier on the new server than I have seen on Laanx in several months. People have actually come up and greeted me and started chatting randomly on the new server (which also didn't happen on laanx often). Just like I expected to happen, there isn't so much stress on people to "RP correctly" that people are trying to start a conversation to build a community. This is good. Do not sit here on the forums and badmouth the new server please.

Yes, I've been on the new server. Yes, you are replying to everything I post and disagreeing with me no matter what position I take. No, I didn't say the things you say I'm saying.

What did I ignore? You said the new server isn't a "real server"... PS is fun because of the community... there is no community on the new server. You are a semi-intelligent person... tell me again what you were trying to say that I missed?

I didn't say you missed anything. I said that you're putting words in my mouth. You either saw things that aren't there, or you're purposely misrepresenting my posts.
-
Why the hell are you guys calling the second server Talad? Laanx is the name of the first server, Talad the name of the founder, and Vodul the name of some IRC bot that josePhoenix wrote. If the second server is called EZ-PC then that's what it's called.
And to answer the OP, I plan on playing both of them but to spend the majority of my time on Fragnetics. With <Banker>, I can make fun of the EZ-PC community whenever I feel like it.
-
But Tuxie, you make up half the community all by yourself, Do you really like to make fun of yourself that much?
-
No, just the half that makes up my KOS list.
-
I wouldn't even want to go near the new server
A) because my mage character has two ways mastered and 1 way half done. That's like half a year's work
B) EZPCUSA has no RP, therefore having a character means nothing unless you're the most game-mechanically powerful character there is
-
hmm sounds like A and B conflict there buddy!
How much of those Ways' levels were spent standing in a field somewhere jonesing on the spell macro doing nothing useful?
I'd have to say more power to you if if every spell you cast was used for effect and not just for practice.
I do understand not wanting to abandon the effort, of course.
-
How do you mean? I was saying I spent that much time working on magic skills so I could use them in an RP perspective. 60% of the spells in the game don't HAVE an effect lol. And how would it be any more useful doing it on ezpc?
-
I shall, from time to time, grace both servers with my spectacular presence! On yee olde fragnetics I shall do my besteth to uphold yee virtues of what children now calleth Roleplay and upon the newly born ezpcusa I shall do absolutely nothing of value, what so ever.
Hear ye, hear ye.
Or does that go at the beginning...
In a somewhat less ridiculous writing style, Myth, you do have a tendency to take Zanzi's words in the worst possible way. Perhaps reading them over a few times will help. Not to say Zanzi never says anything that could offend you but, there's rather little point in seeking offense out where there is none.
-
For example early levels of brown way, if you are casting your rock armor and not going in to combat, I would consider that just useless practice. That is just me of course. Casting defensive wind is the same. I would find it acceptable to cast one of each per combat. Personally I would prefer that those two spells worked like armor, if they reduce damage you get a practice point. I do not know that they actually do reduce damage or block hits or anything.
I am not really faulting you for trying to back up your character story, it is a failing of the mechanics that training magic is generally casting passive magic over and over to no purpose.
Actually I applaud you making the effort. For me I am whatever my character is, he may end up being great but the game is in the getting there. That is what I learned in the pen and dice days. In those days if you were not off on an adventure you got no credit for using your abilities and even then if the DM thought you were being cheesy he'd tell you it was wasted effort.
I do not suppose it would be much different on the new server but you could play a different type of character. As for there being no role play most of the people I have talked to have been role players, I am the least of them, I say what I have to say whether IC or OOC. It is all about the game, though.

Yup!

A valid point of view.
I have another one: I do not cast Rock Armor when I'm already under its effect. However, I travel the wilderness wearing it, and casting it when the effect disappears (if I remember to do so). One wants to be protected at all times in risky areas, and does not wait to face danger; one wants to prevents bad surprises as well.
Technically, the mechanics could make a protection spell fail when it's already active, if that behaviour were to be chosen.
-
I am sure that Mages of Yliakum would cast spells without intending to use their effects actively, purely to practice their abilities.

I wonder how off topic you people can get. It makes me laugh. Back to the questions above please.
-
I'll be on both but mostly on Laanx.
Using the new one as a back up when laanx fails. (can't do much if they're both down but hey ho)
I already RP and level on laanx
I'm not averse to RP on the new server but it will be if the occasion demands.
Certainly to start with it's going to be mostly levelling on the new server, just to get the stats up to something useable for what I want to do.
-
I'll be staying on the new server. Its quieter. And more solid. The expressiveness of the PS client is enjoyable, so I will continue to use RP functions to express the character, but definitely am not doing any massive RP argument-fests like are common on Laanx.
-
OOC argument-fests over who owns which spawns are a hundred times worse.
-
And worse than that is gratuitous drama, like the kind displayed in that remark. And actually, no, as an argument over a spawn point has a clear objective.
-

You don't own any spawn point.
Which server?
Currently most of the times neither. I just lack time and mood.. sure I could possibly take the time from somewhere, but I still kinda lack the latter then.
but maybe it's just some phase.
-

Maybe we can simply agree that arguments aren't good for anyone, more often than not?
-
note: "an argument is a set of one or more declarative sentences (or "propositions") known as the premises along with another declarative sentence (or "proposition") known as the conclusion" (off 'net)
As a Philosophy minor, I shudder whenever I hear 1) people mistake sniping and back-biteing for an argument, and 2) people claiming any conflict or argument is bad (or "not good for anyone").
Instead of trying to practice every fallacy in the book, why not stick the the premises and the validity of each others arguements. Oh wait, this is the 'net. If someone disagrees with you they are obviously eitehr insane or just trying to cause trouble. :whistling:
back to topic.... I am spending a lot more time on ezpcusa, which I refer to as "ezpc" which I pronounce as "easy peasy", a phrase meaning Really REALLY easy. I also call the Fragnetics server "fragnetics". or Frag for short. Fragnetics and ezpcusa are donating their server space to PS, I think it is only fair to at a minimum, to refer to the servers by their name, instead of making up new names for them.
ezpc residents seem more relaxed, more fun, and less eager to "be right" about RP. There seems to be some minor growing pains with people essentially trying to do similar trolling as we had with the
somethingawful forum members a while back, but even the leader of the griefers, Tuxide, was polite and even roleplayed a bit with me when I was RPing with my mule. (yes, we can admit to having alts there too!... I hope. ;D
If anyone wants to RP, or even just interact in a more relaxed environment, I think ezpc is a great place. I know many of the RP freinds on frag I stopped RPing with because either they did not like my stye of "speaking" or they would chide me on yliakum history or lore, and I would be more correct than them... What, should I argue about how such and such a book in the DR says such and such? Oh bother... NVM. :-X
-
I agree with both of you. I'll leave it at that.
-
Which server?

I agree Arerano. I only asked so people would know where to find people in case they returned to the game now that this happened. On second thought there are a great many who do not read the forums and will be surprised to see all the changes when they hopefully come back.
Anyway, if anyone wishes to let us know which server you play on, here's the place to do it.
-
Back on topic... I will probably spend equal amounts of time on both servers (which will be virtually no time)
On Laanx i will RP
On Ezpcusa i will not RP
...i forget the rest of the questions >.<
[edit] went back and checked.. I will probably not level on either, though if i do at all it will be on ezpcusa just to get my stats up. My characters are already trained to a point on Laanx where i am not annoyed by stamina issues.
