Title: random crashing, and shift doesn't make my character run..
Post by: Blazin13J on January 31, 2009, 05:51:12 am: i need help! 8) i have a macbook pro 10.4.11, 2ghz intel core duo, 2 gb 667 mhz ddr2 sdram. and i the game crashes randomly as if my computer specs can't handle the load even though i think it can. im not so sure how this posting thing all works so ill just copy paste the errorlog. aside from that, i can't seem to make my character run neither shift nor ctrl is doing the trick. please help me!

Post by: Blazin13J on January 31, 2009, 06:46:31 am: the running is now fixeD! thanks to the kind GMs of the other world! uhmm, the crashing.. im not sure if theres a problem or if its just the disconnecting due to a slow connection. so i'm actually not too bad shape. the random crashes are a little annoying but i can handle em. please someone just let me know if its a bug or if its the connection. my errorlog is above. i dont understand an inch of it.

Post by: Blazin13J on January 31, 2009, 02:16:52 pm: its hard to say, its very random. it just closes down and goes to desktop. then i have to wait 30 seconds to reconnect. im not sure if its crashing or if its a weak internet connection. it happens mostly when the game seems busy. it lags a bit then closes down completely.

Post by: Blazin13J on January 31, 2009, 02:26:41 pm: most of the time it crashes when im turning my character around while walking. for example holding 'w' and 'd' at the same time or 'w' and 'a'

could it be the 3 button lock thing? i'm playing now and i've notice it doing it when i hold forward and i turn right and immediately turn left. and vise versa.

sorry, i tried the 3 buttons at the same time, and this time it did not crash. it is very random.. im having a hard time pin pointing exactly what causes it.

it crashed again. this time it waited till i clicked on a ncp. still very random. sorry i wish i could be of more help to myself.

Post by: Caarrie on January 31, 2009, 03:10:28 pm: is this happening in a certain map? what race is your character? what are your exact system stats? if you need help with that check www.planeshift.caarrie.org, also while you are there download my app to get a console output and paste the whole output here on the forums please use [ code][/ code] tags [without the spaces] to paste it in.

do any of the apps on my site work? what exactly are you doing that makes you think they are not working? do any of the apps on the utilities page work? are you 100% sure you have the "terminal.app" on your machine?

on your install cd/dvd it should have an "Applications" folder on it somewhere might take sometime to find it you just need to copy the Utilities folder from it to your Applictions folder.

we will need to do a few commands in terminal

cd /Applications/Utilities sudo chown root:admin *after you do the above it will ask for your password type that and press enter
then do

ls -land paste the output of this last command

Post by: Caarrie on February 02, 2009, 07:01:32 pm: i would suggest a reboot of your machine after the disk utility has finished and try the apps again. just to make sure everything is a bit cleaner

it looks like you dont have a console app in your Utilties folder please check the zip from mrokii a few posts up and see if there is one there, if so put that in your Utilties folder and we will need to chown that as well as we did above

there is no console app in my utilities folder. unless that is 'terminal' then that works fine.

cd /Applications/PlaneShift ./psclient.app/Contents/MacOS/psclient_static
play the game as much as you want till it crashes the past the whole output from terminal in a post.

not sure about the crashes as the info you have given dont tell much :( sorry, and if the apps i made that should launch the terminal app dont seem to work i dont know why.

ls -l console.app
also there might be a few other apps that are missing from your Utilities folder you can use the pacifist app [which you can find on google] to look though the packages on your install cd to find more that are missing and make sure you sudo chown root:admin appname.app for each one you find after you extract them to your Utilties folder

my leopard install has the following apps that you dont:

please when working in terminal dont type random letters unless you know what you are doing ;)

and check my last post for an edit i did listing some apps you might be missing which you can find somewhere on your cd. If you need further help after you find the apps please send me a pm as this is getting a tad off topic.

umm, i did it anyway.. then i opened up terminal popped in the cd/applications/utilities thing and this is what came up. i need your help again. the apps i downloaded from you are still not running.

Post by: Caarrie on February 03, 2009, 05:17:08 am: it is fine to copy them as long as they are from a system with the same version of osX please do the chown thing to each app you copied over same as we did above. I dont know why the apps would not work other then there is some failure in launching terminal. next time you try one try launching console.app first and see if it outputs anything about terminal.
