I have just installed the client, and am going through the tutorial. Although I can say Hi, Hello, Bonjour, to the three first NPCs, Abelia, Neave and Ibharr, they respond fine (Ibhaar says "Come to learn to fight have you") However, I can say nothing else, "yes", "give me a quest" without the response "I'm sorry I don't quite understand, etc...".
I do omit the "'s, I am gong by the tutorial, I am selecting the NPC (red axes) and I am selecting the NPC tab.
What am I missing please, or this a bug?
Thanks.

:( I knew this was going to be difficult! I'll try again, more simply....
Following the tutorial at...

Talking with "Abelia Aruine"
I say: Hi
Abelia Aruine says: Hello, and welcome to Planeshift! You can just ask me to give you the tutorial, or, the more traditional phrase around here, 'give me a quest.'
I say: give me a quest
Abelia Aruine says: I'm sorry, I don't quite understand you, or you may have mistyped something...yardy, yardy
I hope that is clear now. Getting help within the game is also un-helpful. The point is, only saying hi works.
Please help to resolve this issue, as this looks to be a really good game, and evidently, I am not the only one to have this problem.
Thanks,
Lexx

Abelia will only answer one time to "Give me a quest". So if you already said that before and she answered you it won't work again. Try to tell her the later phrases of the dialog ("yes" and "ready"). If that still doesn't work contact a GM for help in game. You can make a petition about your problem or look for one in the IRC channel.

:) Ahhh, "ready" worked, thanks, on a roll now....

Be sure to check your chat logs, sometimes people accept a quest, log off, and forget they accepted it, or even were offered it, or forgot what they need to say for the next part. the chat logs help A LOT for these things. A LOT of stuck quests turn out to be the NPC said something like "when you come back with the doo-dads, tell me you are ready" and people just can not figure out why the NPC won't take the item. Turns out if you say "Ready" then they ask for the doo-dad and the dialog continues.

NPCs often tell you a very specific phrase you'll need in a quest, and your Quest Log often doesn't contain all the information you need. I've found it is a really good habit to immediately jot nots in your quest log and hit save.
-
Probably a dumb question, but...
Where is, or how do you access this quest log please?
It doesn't seem to be available in-game, and any communication log trails (NPC...) are lost after a restart, so taking notes IS essential.
Thanks, Lexx.

Those are log files (which are rather nice to pull the exact dialoge and NPC said to you) but with all the icons on the left during gameplay, there is an icon to pull up an in-game Quest Log.

the quest logs there, dont tell much about the more complex quests. Also the info there is very basic. So i would suggest to take notes as you go and add them to the quest logs there. Otherwise all you can do is read your logs from the log files.
