Why already go for guilds if there is still nothing to show? Unless your called the Oprah Winfrey talkshow Guild of eternal chatting :)
The only guild that could be made is some kind of Crystal-Hunting-We-Are-Cool guild .. :D

I think part of the idea is that when there is stuff to show you will already have an established group of people. I admit that there is not much for guilds at the moment. But for those that stick with it and can maintain their guilds I think it will be worth it in the end.
If PlaneShift does become very popular some of these early guilds may end up with some extra status and popularity in player\'s eyes since they are the \'founding guilds\' in PS.

Also it gives us something to do while we wait for the game to come out, or at least a version that will one day run on your computer.

and it helps the creators know of any problems in that particular area. think of it as being live test subjects. because we are willing to put up with all the beginning problems, the creators can adjust accordingly for future players
pretty neat huh :D

And did you ever noticed how much time/energy it takes to create a proper guild? You can\'t do that in just a few days (although some believe they can...).
While waiting for newer releases each time you got some nice time to create one :)
