Title: Cannot seem to progress past the character screen,
Post by: Danman on May 02, 2009, 02:43:50 pm
When i connect to fragnetics server, it displays what appears to be a character selection screen.
All are blank (although i know i created a char ages ago and that name is still on right side)
Clicking on add new or join does nothing.
I also notice it says "waiting for server data" at the top, but that never does anything.

Running Ubuntu 64 and have run latest game updates.

so you see a character name on the right side but no character displayed in the window?

what other games can your computer run? e.g. how good is it by gaming PC standards?

Well, it runs halflife2 & splintercell pretty well :/

Wired desktop. 2Ghz, ATI 2300(or there abouts), 1 GB ram, nat router with 777 forwarded.

7777 is the number to forward.  and make sure it's udp connections, not tcp  :)

Have you installed the proprietary display driver from ATI under linux for your gfx-card? I think I had that issue once when I messed up something with my nvidia-drivers. It should be easy to install with the package manager of Ubuntu.

I have both on 7777, will try udp only (does that make a differenc?)

I have fglrx installed and full HW acceleration is enabled.
