I know this might be impossible but ive been wanting this in mmorpgs for some time. I wuld like to see the ability to draw your porttrait and the others culd view it in the game. But i know there is some mayor problems with it like:
1 it might kill the speed if you have to upload the images
2 People uploading \"unwanted\" pictures like porn or such
I guess problem 2 culd be solved with that staff must aprove the pics before they are uploaded.
If this wuld be possible it wuld make the characters more unique.

Maybe it should be kept to a smaller sense...such as an Avatar. When people target you, the Avatar can pop up in the Target window with your info, like health (HP), mana (MP), and other things. Anyways...just a suggestion.
-
On that concept, I\'d rather it be something for, like, maps. (Relate to the map thread)
-
This idea kinda reminds me of the AIM buddy icon, for better or for worse. I\'m cool with it, as long as it can be turned off in options. And any abuse should result in a ban, no questions asked.
-
It would probably put unwanted work on admins, having to deal with claims of porn avatars, maybe being able to choose from a number of premade avatars, but self loading would just get out of hand with people going around to ruin everyone elses games.
-
Plus, the people would have to skin their own heads, or it would probably look kinda starnge...
-
Well, they would have to be approved first...also, it wouldn\'t be any harder than putting an avatar up on (any other) message board.
-
Yes, but if this game becomes huge ( like 10\'s of thousands of players) the admins will have to go through and accept application after application for avatars, and nobody wants to do that.
-
And if I remember correctly, I think they were gonna do like barbers, and tatoos, so you could customize your character completely.
-
Perhaps if they designed an avatar system that was self-customizing...a picture of your character\'s head that changes with the changes you make to your character. It could be very basically customizable, so that the only things you could change are the background color, maybe a stone or gem beneath the picture to show allignment (black=evil, blue=neutral, white=good), the expression your avatar is making, and whether or not to enable or disable the avatar. You should also be able to separately disable or enable the allignment feature (since so many people like to keep it secret).

sounds pretty cool!
-
Something along the lines of The Heromachine (http://www.ugo.com/channels/freestyle/heroMachine/) in PS would be cool indeed.
Moraudin
-
Nah...not for the whole character...just maybe the player\'s head. (From an angle to the side?)
-
I\'d probably say either front view or three-fourths view. Perhaps that would be a good idea to use as an option, as well: the angle of the portrait.
-
Wouldn\'t it be better if PS focused on the models instead of portraits? You should be able to add clothes, neklaces, shoes etc. in game.
Every char should be unique in some way or another. The game gets boring if everybody looks all the same.
-
portraits give personality to cahr that is why they should be full coustomized by player. the problem \'bout that is already seen.
differences in models will come of course. u got piont in that.
-
I think it would just be better if you could customize your face on creation. Then, if you want an avatar picture, there could be an automatic avatar that shows your character\'s face in some heroic position in a little box.
-
Maybe like a little skinning/modeling program, where you could use your mouse to pull on the skin to move it around. Put where hair grows/is, legthen/shorten it. And all that fun stuff.
-
Something similar to Project Entropia would be great. Of course you should be able to customize your char. I\'m one of the boring people who really enjoys picking with my character. In fact, I think it\'s part of the gaming-experience to create your own unique character with unique apperance, attributes and personality (RP).
It\'s the details that does it. ;)
BTW. When you\'re talking about portraits you mean something similar to the portraits in Neverwinter nights right?
-
yeah i was thinkin about never winter nights... but there is very few players that wuld be able to draw THAT good
