Title: EXCEPTION ACCESS VIOLATION at 697AA100
Post by: Ohaupo on May 23, 2009, 01:19:30 pm
Before this message appeared while I was trying to enter the game, I got a bluescreen message telling me to update my graphics card driver (ATI Radeon). I acted accordingly as best I could, but as I now try to enter the game, this error keeps coming up. What can I do to eliminate it?  :(

since you mention you have an ati card,  try opening the setup program and turn vertex buffering off.  then try running the game again.

Thank you for answering me. Unfortunately, I haven't got a clue to the path I should take to find Vertex Buffer Objects and turning it/them off... It would be nice if someone could guide me where to look.
I have two Icons referring to ATI, one is to ATI Technologies Inc., the other to ATI Catalyst Control Center. Must I look somewhere there?

Hello

It is an option in the setup-program of planeshift itself. While you are there you can also turn preload models to off.
(If that doesn't help, you'll need a gm to move you to another map - that will hopefully work then)

Aha - I was looking along the setup.exe path, which was wrong. It was a folder in the (already) installed program.
I did the adjustment as you told me, and everything is just fine now. Thank you!  \\o//

As for this thing about ATI - My graphics card cooler fan seems to have partially melted off, and so the graphics card itself gave up its spirit soon afterwards...
