Title: [Rp] Necrovalley
Post by: Duraza on May 25, 2009, 11:46:13 pm
The Return of Shadows

Tall, dressed in gold and red silk robes, elegant sabers at hand, relaxed eyes. A ynnwn wandered through the sewers, his steps slow and deliberate, not in a rush to get to where he was going or delaying. However, he held his blades tightly, he expected what would come. As he approached the sanctuary, the gates to his safety, the black torches he saw them. Two stood guard, chain-mail hanging loosely from their bodies, or what was left of the bodies. Both rushed at the ynnwn, large axes in hand. They were slow though, the ynnwn realized. A child could sidestep them, a flaw he knew would not last forever. The ynnwn's blades slammed into the chests of the two strangers, the cracking of bones echoing throughout the sewer halls. They were frail as well, though soon they would be coming fully developed. Then ynnwn sheathed his blades, ready to enter his sanctuary when footsteps were heard. He quickly entered, past the black torches.

"There were more," a voiced questioned, face covered by a mask.

"Yes. It won't take long now," said the ynnwn. "We will have to act quickly. Either fight and succeed or fight and die. Not fighting isn't an option."

Red leather covering his body, chain-mail around his arms, and a fear glyph on his necklace another ynnwn, with silver hair, walked towards a gate of an entirely different kind. Not one to sanctuary, not safety. No this gate lead away from his bastion, back to the world he no longer belonged to. The ynnwn took one last look at the Citadel around him, his eyes moving to look at another man, an old diabolo.

"We will take what is rightfully ours," said the ynnwn. "Take it, and build it anew."

Without another word both ynnwns left, one deeper into a safe place, the other into the chaos that he was to tame. Regardless of this, both men share something, a dark purpose.

[And Huzzah. I have started a new event, possibly to be my comeback. If you seek to be involved send me a pm or speak to one of my characters ingame. Saiix, Saggi, Nalirar, and Demoik should be the main ones involved so if you see them and you want to get involved don't hesitate to start something or ask me to. ]

Kurtzen looked around the sewers, thinking he heard a noise. His ears searched but there were no sounds. The enkidukai went back to this thoughts when another faint noise was heard, almost to faint to really be sure of. He turned, finding nothing but empty halls. Something made an odd clacking sound. Kurtzen turned to find in his face a stranger, covered in black, saber drawn and thrusting at the menki's gut.

Blood drops hit the floor, dripping down the steel blade and from the mouth of Kurtzen as he looked up to view his attacker, seeing nothing but darkness in his cowl. Quickly Kurtzen pulled the blade from his chest, taking a few steps before drawing his own claymore, eyeing the stranger furiously.

"Who the hecks are you?"

From the stranger came no reply. When Kurtzen asked again the stranger lunged at him with another attack. The menki in response held out his blade to block. It happened again and again, Kurtzen able to block or dodge the mans attack easily, it either toying with him or much too slow to be effective. The menki then grabbed his sword and slammed it into the dark cloaked one's hand, knocking him into the sewer walls.

"Damned you." He said as he watched the man get up again. Something was off this time though. The hand he was hit in slipped down lower, much lower than usual as if it had just been elongated. He took his claymore and thrusted, this time at the beings chest. Cracks were heard, the sound clattering on the floor from small objects, followed by the complete collapse of the mans body. Or what was left of it...

[Thank you, Duraza. That was a fun little bit, and very interesting to play with you on. Kurtzen is intrigued.]

[Not really the place to discuss this but I didn't gut him out or anything. He got stabbed in the chest area. Not like I ran the blade through his heart.]

Dressed in his usual attire, formal red robes with gold embroidery, Saggi made his way into the temple of Laanx. He nodded to the usual priests, going forward to approach Sharven. Before reaching him Saggi spotted a new face in one of the pews, at least one he had not seen before. The lemur looked up at Saggi as well, seeming to realize who he was in moments.

"...Priest Saggi...Lezeheso," the lemur asked, wide eyed.

Saggi nodded back, "Yes. A pleasure to meet you Mr?"

Quickly the lemur stood, bowing, "Giroum Dephra, a devotee of Laanx." Giroum took a better look at Saggi, smiling, "Might I enquire as to what brings you to the temple? I have been fortunate enough to have heard both your name and your works, but had not heard that you would be gracing us with your presence...?"

Saggi studied Giroum for a moment, letting out a sigh before speaking, "Well, actually..I've come to Hydlaa on strict busniess. Unfortunantely there have been outbreaks of chaotic Dakkru followers....I and a group of priests stumbled upon their plans. Most of those priests have been sleign since, including the ones with actual proof. I've nothing to come forward to the Octarchy with so I feel it my duty to thwart these plans myself."

The lemur furrowed his brow, "I see. If I and my collegues can lend any assistance, you have but to ask, of course. I myself and others dealt justice to a group of heretics earlier this year in fact."

"Is that so...Well your help would be welcome. I myself am not skilled in any form of combat. I came here to pray to Laanx for guidance...but I suppose he has already shown me the way."

Saggi walked into the temple, seeing Giroum again and nodding politely. He had promised to explain to the lemur everything that happened and why he had come to Hydlaa. He knew things would start happening faster so the more the lemur felt he knew the better.

Giroum looked up at Saggi and nodded back, "How goes your...investigation?"

Saggi pondered for a few moments before he shook his head, looking back up, "Not much found yet...I was to discuss with you about the plans of those Dakkru followers correct?"

Giroum took out his pipe and lit it from the candle atop his staff, "If you wish."

Saggi sighs, looking at the wall with deep thought, "I suppose the best place to start is the begining.... I and a few fellow priest had been summoned, gathered together to speak about ways to improve the teachings of Laanx. We were discussing for many days when one day one of our own went missing. We had been staying in a small settlement so there was no question the person had left."

"I see. And your companion was never seen again?"

"Well...we think we saw him again.. When we left the village to search for him at first we found nothing. When we returned the guards had put up wanted signs for necromancers in the area."

Giroum's pipe almost dropped from his mouth, "Necromancers? I had heard of such people...the creation of grendols and the like...but."

Saggi frowned, "It was on that day we saw the disfigured and decayed body of a dwarf...He was of similar height and body to our own friend...Whether they were the same I cannot be sure. According to the guard and the townspeople it had been. The Bronze Door guard defeated it easily and told the village guard to start the hunt for Necromancers. It was then that we felt it our duty to help in the search."

"And, pray tell, how did you search fair?"

"We found what we believed to be their base, a small and well hidden Shrine to Dakkru. We found many documents and maps, detalining the floor. One of the maps had travel routes to Hydlaa in clear detail. There where also statues of the goddess of the Death Realm, paintings on the walls and a scatter of dead bodies and dark crystal."

"I brook no ill toward the mistress of death in her continuance of the natural processes...but necromancy is a step too far."

"Yes...We took a few of the documents to head to the village and report them to the guard...But before we reached it our group was attacked by more necromanced fiends..Most of us were killed and the evidence we had destroyed..I'm afraid I was too much of a coward to die by their side. I gathered the guard to lead them to the temple....There was naught but a few traces of ash."

Saiix stood in Kada's idly, his thoughts drifting in the silence while his hand continually touched the surface of the fear glyph around his neck. It took a long time before that silence was broken, a enkidukai walking in and looking around curiously, trying to find if anyone was in the tavern.

"Crowded in here isn't it," Kamoku said, obviously as a joke. To this Saiix simply shrugged, still touching his glyph while trapped within his thoughts.

Kamoku seemed to realize Saiix's distance as she spoke up again, "Hey, I like to think too. I bet you're one of those loner types. So what you here for? Just getting a drink?"

Saiix frowned, turning and walking out, "Actually I was just leaving."

Kamoku turned moments later, following the ynnwn past the guards. She let him go a few steps ahead of herself before making the turn around the tavern and realizing Saiix was heading down the sewers. She decided to go down herself, climbing down the ladder. When she reached the bottom the ynnwn was no longer in sight, instead a strange figure, completely hidden in a black garb.

The figure drew its blade up, taking Kamoku by surprise as he stabbed at her, grazing her leg as he dodged to the side.

"Hey," Kamoku shouted at the darkly dressed being but its only respond was a volley of more attacks, slashing at her stomach, again and again before rushing at her to try and knock the fenki down. Kamoku easily avoided these attacks, seeming to realize whoever was attacking her was slow, despite their figure being unnaturally thin. Then she was stabbed by shock, the figure rushing out at her, its clothing flying away from the rush of wind hitting. Disbelief caused Kamoku a hesitation in movement, the blade stabbing her in the shoulder.

Kamoku growled, drawing her daggers, "You want to fight?" She quickly stabbed at its arm, followed by its neck, cracking sounds echoing in the sewer halls followed by loud clattering against the stone floor.

Kamoku grabbed her shoulder, cringing at the pain as she walked up towards the ladder, leaving the remains behind.

An Agebound Prophet

Covered in dark robes, a staff with a dark crystal atop it, and two books in hand, a diabolo faced the portal back to Yliakum, the portal out of Dakkru's realm. He handed the staff to one of the acolytes who had come to see him off, his eyes revealing easily his discomfort with losing something so precious. One of the acolytes handed him a dagger, engraved with ceremonial symbols and a small fragment of the dark crystal. The diabolo removed his robe, revealing a body with scars and burns all over. Cut deeply into his back by blade was the image of a three horned skull. Symbols of worship were cut into his face and legs. He looked into the gate for a long moment, the acolytes silent with sorrow. They knew as well as he the fate he risked but he would not let such a thing stop him. The diabolo walked through. He was on his knees in Hydlaa, crouched over and coughing loudly. His body had been ripped of all youth, turning frail and wrinkled. The loss was more than he had hoped but he still had the energy to live. He stood and took slow steps, knowing he still had much to do.

Nalirar made his way through the city. He knew where he was going already, just as he knew that by approaching he made the day of his end even closer. He walked into the sewers, spotting below him what he expected. Another was being attacked by one of the skeletal fiends Saiix had risen. He looked closely at the girl being attacked, a female diabolo, youthful but something about her stood out. In minutes the skeleton was finished but such a thing didn't worry Nalirar, that was to be expected. The girl though, he had known her from somewhere.

Another arrived, a male diabolo trying to kill the female. This one wasn't one of Saiix's, he'd be dead. Still Nalirar shrugged, why should he care. The girl screamed, her voice sounding in Nalirar's head, making him remember. His eyes widened, disbelief ravaging his face. An unexpected turn, a twist in his own visions of the future. She was here. Nalirar quickly removed the dagger he had been given from its place, strapped to his leg. He made a deep cut in his chest, blood seeping down. The pain, the excitement, he could feel the mana flowing through him again. It would wear off soon, he knew it so he held out his left hand. A powerful dark spell sapped the male below, making him fall. Nalirar than made his way down to examine the bones of the skeleton that fell to the female.

The girl's eyes narrowed as she saw Nalirar, "Is that yours?"

Nalirar shook his head, "Not exa-," be began before a sudden crippling pain overcame him. The excitement had worn off, the wound's weakening effects had begun. He turned and walked off, not bothering to look back at the female. Slowly to himself he muttered the same phrase over and over, trying to make himself believe it. It could not be, yet she was as real as she was those many years ago. "My daughter is here," he barely managed to whisper, "....My Vayl."

Saggi's Sermon

[Warning, gets a tad bit graphic by the end]

A devotee of Laanx shouted throughout the plaza. "Citizens of Hydlaa. Come to the Laans temple and hear Priest Lezeheso's sermon. Be you Laanx follower or member of any other church his words will be important to hear," yelled the ylian Penoli. Slowly men, women, and kra listened to his words or read one of the many posters, gathering within the temple.

A masked ynnwn walked through the caves of the stone head. He already knew who he was looking for and where he'd find them. In his hands was a small scroll, words in calligraphy written on it, ripped from a wall. He quickly spotted another ynnwn, young with red hair, and an old diabolo wrapped in black robes, surrounded by skeletons and tables. He narrowed his eyes, stepping up to them in rushed steps.

Slowly he climbed up the Laanx well, or what was left of him. Wrapped in black, the only thing that was revealed was his face, a skull with flesh still scattered on a few spots. He was once a demorian, now a twisted creature, transformed by necromancy to do his masters bidding and today his master bid that he climb up the well. The echos from the speaking had stopped. The targets would be here soon. He would only have to grab his blade and cut them to ribbons. This was all he understood, all he knew.

Saggi smiles lightly, addressing the crowd that Penoli gathered with a warm welcome, "Hello ladies, gentlemen, and kra. Thank you for gathering today in the Laanx temple. Thanks to Sharven's generousity I'm able to use it today for this occasion. Today I have a very important speech to make, one on all religions and on the meaning and problem of chaotic worship."

Saiix and Nalirar turned, looking at the masked man as he held the paper to their eyes, pointing to the words on it. "Saggi Lezeheso. He knows of your plans. He wants to tell the people, to have them persuade the Octarch to kill us all. You must do away with him quickly. Have you done it yet? Have you found the skill needed to create more elite soldiers?"

He smelled them now, their flesh the only other smell in the room, mixing faintly with the unmistakable smell of rot and death emanating from his own body. He took off his robe, revealing a figure so tortured, so twisted that 'he' would not be appropriate. No, 'it' was what the thing was, the rotten remains of a demorian, decayed through completely, drawing its blade as it prepared to lunge over the edge of the well and slay all in its path.

Saggi took a pause, making sure that the crowd was still with him, "My message today has to deal with those Dakkru followers.... A warning of sorts. It is my fear that Hydlaa may be in grave danger because of chaotic worship. You see, not too long ago I and a group of, unfortunately deceased, priests found ourselves stumbling upon a shrine...One filled with death.  We found many bodies, altered, changed and such. Maps detailing routes to Hydlaa and the city itself. Most unfortunately we found traces of necromantic experiments and Dakkru symbols and statues all around."

Saiix nodded, pointing to the side where two tables stood, side by side, on one the decayed corpse of a demorian and on the other the remains of what seemed to be a long dead ylian, "While the ylian isn't complete the demorian is. They are in many ways twins, born of the same technique and one complete they will share the same powers and mind. They have a slight ability to think and are much more capable than the original toys we sent to Hydlaa's sewers for tests." The masked man nodded, "Send the demorian to Hydlaa, sneak him in. Make sure that he kills Priest Lezeheso and his assistant. Who knows how much either of them could know."

Saggi turned around, eyes widening as the creature jumped from out of the well. Its blade swung, going to slice Saggi open, Penoli jumping infront of him, a massive cut running vertically through his chest as both men were knocked into the wall. Saggi looked with horror into Penoli's dying eyes, seeing the tears run down his face. Then, there was nothing left but a bloody neck, his dead decapitated and thrown into the well. Saggi ran as fast as he could, screaming as another slash went toward him, hitting Penoli's remains instead. The creature was quick though, in another moment, its blade cutting Saggi deeply in his side. Time was up though. Sharven and the other priests would know something was wrong by now. The creature disappeared into the well again, leaving only a few of Laanx's faithfuls to view its exit, leaving Saggi wounded on the floor.

Many hours later a man in what seemed to be new red robes walked past the black torches, into the shrine that they held behind. A few bandages covered his chest and he walked much slower than usual from weakness. Waiting for him was a masked man, standing by book shelves.

"So I take it that all things are going to plan," questioned the ynnwn in red robes. The masked man nodded then the ynnwn spoke again, "Good. That means your duties are up until it is time to leave."

So those are like zombies or what?  ??? (i ask too many questions!)

[I'll gladly do a bit of answering. If you want to use the word 'zombie' I guess it is pretty appropriate. They are risen corpses of the permanently dead bodies you can find in the Stone Head Burial Well. I believe grendols are products of necromancy, however because I'm not sure how powerful of a necromancer you'd have to be to create a grendol or if that fact is 100% correct I avoid using them. Instead I'm simply rising the remains of bodies. To help keep this from becoming an example of magic too powerful for players to use I'm making these zombies have extremely fragile bodies so that 2 attacks would reduce them to helplessness. The 'two' spoken about in that last post are more advanced versions, now more evenly skilled with players but retaining the same fragility so that any player could beat them.

You might ask why rise a whole bunch of zombies if they are not capable of killing anyone. It sounds silly unless I'm eventually going to be able to make 'elite' versions. I won't ever reach a more elite, non-fragile version and the reason why is their uses are beyond just randomly killing whoever walks into the sewers. If you've got any more questions please don't hesitate to ask.]

[I'll be posting the story of what happened soon. I must say, I had a lot of fun running this event, I had a pretty good turnout, much better than I expected, and learned a lot of things I'll need to fix for the next DND event. It was great fun though and I'd like to thank the people who did come for coming and supporting (as well as the people I had yell at people to get people). There will be another one for those who weren't able to come to this one, most likely on a weekend to get more people. I'm also thinking on making a separate branch of DND events non evil RP related because they are fun to run. Once again thanks to all who came or will want to come in the future]

Dungeon Raid

The final calls were made by a few acolytes around town. In moments a small crowd gathered around the Laanx temple. Saggi looked through them meticulously, selecting those he wanted with a careful hand. by the end he had picked all that he needed, 4 members of the crowd filled behind him. The rest we thanked before having the acolytes send them off.

"We start with the basics, your names," Saggi asked.

One by one each of them stepped forward, answering. In the end the group consisted of Zephan, Shangshi, Rulek, and Megheraine. Saggi gave a small nod to each before briefing them on the goal at hand.

"We will be exploring the inside of the Laanx well. This journey is not one usually made at all, most no doubt thinking it foolish to even bother. But I simply want to check a few things to make sure my suspicions are wrong." With that said he lead them into the temple, letting down a rope into the well. Slowly each one of them climbed down the rope, Rulek having the most trouble but even kra made it down successfully. Zephan removed a torch from his pack, lighting it and illuminating the way. Together, the group travelled deep into what appeared to be an underground system of halls. All was quiet, only the sound of their own feet heard against the floor until clacking sounds echoed in the halls, light but heard quickly by the group. As they reached a staircase they saw at the bottom a figure in heavy black garb, swords already drawn.

Saggi frowned slightly, "I think theres a thief lurking down there...." Zephan quickly raised the torch to shine light upon the figure and the stairs below. Unfortunately with the comming of the light the man rushed at the group, daggers sliding from his sleeves and spiraling toward the 5. The daggers missed, Zephan being the closest to the man swinging his blade and cracking the mans skull, making him fall to the ground. Black liquid oozed from his wound as his body fell back down the stairs.

Rulek, curious, touched the substance for a moment, trying to find out what it was. However, in haste kra ignored it, following the rest of the group onward. As they came to another passing three more black figures stood in their way.

Megheraine spoke quietly "Quick lets go before they come this way." Everyone seemed to nod in agreement, deciding to avoid a fight altogether. They turned, quietly sneaking the back the other way and up the stairs before quickening their pace away. They slowly approached an open room, and to their horror dead bodies covered the floor. These bodies were decayed beyond reason, flesh barely clinging to bone on some of them, scattered around.

Saggi stepped into the room with disgust in his eyes, "What maddness is this?" He took a look around, a frown on his face, "Dark men live in these tunnels..." The others nodded before Rulek and Zephan turned their faces to the entrance, alerted by the light sound of footsteps in the tunnel.

Megheraine muttered lightly before saying a bit louder, "I hear something.. come on come on. Let's move it." Saggi quickly nodded in agreement, both of them taking to the next flight of stairs downward.

Rulek stood his ground near the entrance, "Go on ahead, I'll watch for them...I'm not fast enough." Shangshi and Zephan decided to stay in the room as well, to help Rulek if kra were in need of aid. A man in black ran up, surprised as he looked up at Rulek but acting quicker than the kran, slicing kra at kra's shoulder. Shangshi tried to stab the figure while he was distracted, the man quickly moving away before counter attacking. Shangshi too was quick, jumping back to avoid the blade, before Zeaphan's sword moved in, piercing the figure in the chest and making him fall, the same black ooze coming from his body. The three hurried to catch up with Meg and Saggi, louder clacking sounds starting to come from far in the tunnel. The suddenly the sound of massive footsteps started to echo through as well, screeching heard, creating a maddening cacophony.

Saggi's eyes widened, "Yes, lets make haste, quickly everyone!" They all started to run through the halls moving as fast as possible. As they reached a much larger room than before Saggi was suddenly ambushed this time the man in robes seeming much thinner than the others, the cloth holding tightly to him. The man's sword pierced the left of Saggi's chest, making him fall to the ground. Quickly, Shangshi slashed his sword at the man, blade hitting his chest and suddenly multiple cracking sounds were heard as he collapsed. Megheraine kicked the the robes off the body, revealing it to be absent of flesh and skin, only bone underneath. She let out a scream before glaring at Saggi, "What have you gotten us into?" Rulek looked at the corpse with the same confusion and fear in kra's eyes.

Saggi, barely able to stand, looked horrified at the skeleton, his face completely sickened, "This maddness.....Forgive me friends but my suspicions have been confirmed...We must leave immediately. What we face may be beyond us." Before they could take another step forward though, the battle was upon them. From behind 6 of the strange skeletal creatures they just encountered stood, swords drawn. Then from in front, light burst into the area, a large flame on wheels, dragged by a huge grendol, chained to it, and 3 more of the skeleton warriors. Immediately the 4 Saggi brought with him were engulfed in battle, Shangshi and Megheraine taking the 6 from behind, Zephan and Rulek taking the 3 and the grendol in the front.

Rulek picked up Zephan, throwing him into the enemies, the elf twisting his swords in circles, cutting through two two of the the skeletons, putting him face to face with the third. Megheraine grabbed at stones on the ground, throwing them into the skulls of their opponents, cracking heads and ribs, bones splitting and bursting all around. Shangshi swung his swords in close combat, slicing through bone and cartilage, making foes collapse before him. As Zephan defeated the final skeleton, he was slammed into the wall by the grendol, leaving him up to Rulek to deal with. In a shot of white energy, the kran send a crystal arrow into the grendol's chest, bringing him down once and for all. The battle left them drained, the air finally quiet. Quickly they helped each other get together before rushing for the set of stairs closet to them. They stopped, frozen in their tracks as in front of them stood a man, black robes covering his body and a strange mask covering his face.

Saggi looked the man over, shouting in anger and also in fear, "Who are you? What are you doing in this temple!" The only answer he received was the man jumping down, back to the ground where their fight had just be won, running off quickly. They all stood in silence for a few moments before Saggi spoke again, his words barely audible, "Let us depart."

(Sorry for the wait. Yes, I have more to come, things with this will continue. Yes, that final battle was much longer than I wrote but I like it better that way. Makes everyone look good. I thank all who joined in one last time and now I prepare for what happens next.  :P )

Martyrdom

Nalirar started to wander in the sewers alone after Vayl left, thinking to himself. He let out a heavy sigh.

"I understand, father," Vayl had said, holding a shard of dark crystal in her hands.

"Hrm. Can she really get the crystal to Saiix in time," he whispered silently to himself. "I wonder, have you made the right decision Kauge? Have you really done what's best?"

"You'll never see me again," Nalirar responded through quivering lips, "I can promise that."

"Dakkru's will be done. That is the most I can ask for," Nalirar finally decided on, looking down an empty hall, only the sound of sewage running past disturbing his thoughts. He had taken his life's work, two Tomes on Dakkru and worship to the goddess, and had given them away for free to a klyros book seller in Yliakum named Dermathil.

"The original copies are never to be sold, they contain power," Nalirar said. "But it is crucial that the people of Yliakum understand Dakkru, for who she really is. We must spread her faith, not fear of it."

Nalirar looked down the river of waste for a few moments, letting the sound drown out his thoughts and senses. When he looked back up a ynnwn in a mask stood at the end of he hall, clapping, "Congratulations Nalirar," he said in a harsh tone, muffled partially by the mask itself, "You've managed to be a more effective annoyance than we ever thought someone of your age could."

Nalirar looked at the ynnwn with confusion, speaking up, "Demoik, what are you talking about? In fact, what are you even doing here? I thought you left before I came to Hydlaa." Demoik walked up, chuckling through the mask, his eyes training themselves upon Nalirar, "You're a foolish old man Kauge. You should have stayed in Dakkru's realm. Least then you would have been protected."

With a frown, Nalirar opened his mouth to speak. Before he could utter a word Demoik grabbed his neck, slamming his weak body against the wall, "You really don't understand do you?" He started to laugh again while all Nalirar could do is watch, wide-eyed as he gasped frantically for breath, his weak arms clawing at Demoik's own, all attempts futile. "Do you think it was by chance that I met Saiix when I did, right after you two became aquatinted? Or that he had skill in dark magic, you had access to dark crystal, and I had a plan and a means to achieve it?"

This time Demoik took the time to smile at Nalirar's confusion, feeling the mans weakness and breaths coming to an end. He moved his head close to Nalirar's ear speaking just low enough that the words still come clear through his mask, "Do you really think that Dakkru is the reason that I know necromancy? That I was inspired by her to create a gate to death? To create a city for the agebound and whatever other lies I've fed you? You will die, Saiix will die, we will win. The gate will be ours, those books of yours will be ours, and there is nothing you can do to stop it."

Without another word, Nalirar's head slumped over. Demoik let go, his body falling weakly to the ground. He smirked again, "Foolish servants of Dakkru. If only they knew how closely the truth watches them. It waits for them. The time will come soon enough when their faith is nothing but another chapter in history, another religion that is never to be spoken of..."

(Sorry, totally slacking on getting things posted.)

Saggi's Ambition

Demoik walked slowly through the sewer tunnels. His hair was singed at the edges, a few burns all over his body. He was in no hurry, still tired from chasing around, unable to find Nalirar's books or whoever had obtained them. The events of the following days had started to annoy him, his temper raised considerably. He walked past the black torches, and there stood Saggi, still wearing the same red robes as always, the smirk on his face starting to become just as aggravating as the constant grunt work he was forced to complete.

"Did things go according to plan with Vayl," Saggi said with no particular interest.

Demoik grunted, rubbing apart of his arm that still had not healed from the girl's fire attack. He wasn't to actually defeat her but didn't expect she'd put up a fight. "Yes. She delivered the dark crystal to Saiix. Saiix, now knowing that Nalirar is dead, has hastened his pace, though there is still time before we go to kill him."

Saggi nodded, removing a gold embroidered hood from his head, looking Demoik straight into the eyes, "And of the books? You weren't able to locate where they went, were you?"

Demoik frowned, drilling Saggi back with his own gaze before spitting at the ground, "No, and I don't see why we should care so much...Or why even sending me in the first place. What use are books? Penned words by some Dakkru following cultist aren't what we are after."

Saggi allowed Demoik to vent for a bit longer before interrupting, him, "You still barely understand do you? Books are a very powerful tool. As powerful as any magical weapon and just as there are multiple magic weapons there are many books of power. I thought by now you'd know how destructive knowledge can be."

Demoik went to interrupt Saggi but hesitated after his last sentence. It was true and he was no fool. Those books in the long run could have some kind of use to them, but what it was would no doubt be beyond him to understand. "So what now Saggi?"

"The pieces my friend, are falling into place. The sewers must be cleared like the Dungeons of course...and then a final attack in the Burial Wells will end this conflict, as well as lead us to our goals. Demoik simply gave a nod and Saggi motioned him off, "You are dismissed. Continue searching for the books." With that Demoik left.

For a while Saggi walked through the halls of the hidden temple, eyes not looking for anything, mind not searching for anything. He was void of thought as he took a seat, eyes closing, darkness   surrounding his world. He shut it all out, sitting in the silence that he now forced himself to maintain. A voice broke the darkness, and the silence.

"Demoik will have to be killed soon Saggi. You know this, you know that like many others he isn't worthy, not truly worthy anyways. He will be a sacrifice, another just to be stepped upon before reaching the final truth," the voice said, not with cruelty or coldness but complete certainty.

"Yes....we must spill his blood Saggi, all of it, make him scream, make him suffer. Then we will kill the others, Saiix, yes, he dies. And we kill, and kill," came another voice, small and innocent like a child's but filled with malice.

The first voice came again, "There are a few useful tools out there... Obviously we must gain back possession of the books. We need to see if Dakkru's acolytes will continue to surface. We should also keep our eyes open. That girl Vayl might have future uses... Same for the elf Shangshi, we've talked to him at many different times..."

"Saggi must step on them too! Step on their heads till their skulls crack from being used! Make it end, make them dies after their purpose has been served," came the child. After that the darkness faded and Saggi opened his eyes to view the temple again, just as he had seen it before.  He stood, and walked out.

The Gate

Saiix looked up, infront of him, after so much hard work, it finally stood tall, wood and stone, wrought together, shards of black crystal finally assembled around.

Vayl's eyes narrowed as she muttered "He said I'd never see him again, that it was a promise. I at least deserve to know why my father sent me out here to deliver a crystal to you."

"So then Nalirar really isn't coming back...." He turned to look at the unfinished gate, "This has been our goal, what we've worked at. The ultimate passage between ths realm and those in the death realm. A sort of way to bring the dead here, and create a land for us in the realm of the living."

Vayl raised a brow, looking around him to the portal once more "How will it keep the ages of those returning from the realm from causing their death?"

"We are unsure....This is an idea we've never tested but were told by another faithful of Dakkru that it would work. He's the one who taught me necromancy and suggested it would be useful to build the gate, and protect this place from the Octarchy...We seek no war, just a place for Dakkru's religion to be furthered."

Slowly, Saiix put the last crystal into place, gazing at his creation with wide eyes, "It's finally done... I have not failed you Nalirar."

The End of the Beginning.

Alone in Darkness stood two men, one in red and one in black, ynnwns, for a long moment silently gazing. From the hill they stood atop they could see much of the area, but their eyes were focused on one spot, the Stone Head. There was all they had hoped for.

"Does this gate truly lead to and from the Death Realm," Demoik asked, face covered by a red mask.

"No. The gate can take one to the Death Realm though... From it, only Dakkru's gates can do that as far as we know...You will go inside, slay Saiix, and then go into the gate. Afterwards I will take the shards of Dark Crystal Nalirar brought here, and have the gate burned to nothing.... They will be useful in what's to come."

Demoik nodded, "Very well. I will be quick...Once I finish in Dakkru's realm I shall return here with that which you seek." He gave Saggi a bow, than ran off towards the Burial Well.

It would not take long, Saggi knew it. Demoik would kill Saiix and go through the gate. Saiix would no doubt survive to, no doubt arrive in the Death Realm himself. Dakkru's filth will come for them soon. They've stolen her property, tried to infiltrate her realm, all to undermine her eventually. He would not be surprised if Dakkru herself came with rage and destroyed them all.... But, it wouldn't matter. She is just another puppet who's strings are being pulled at. Only the Black Flame controls this game.

He'd done it all, manipulated Saiix through Demoik, taught him how to raise the dead so he could build a gate in sufficient time. He had Nalirar tricked into thinking that this is what Dakkru would want, had him risk it all to bring shards of the Dark Crystal to the living realm. Now, Nalirar was dead, Saiix was to die, Demoik was to gain access to the goddess' realm, and Saggi himself was to gain a few shards of Dark Crystal. The beginning was done.... There was some cleaning up left to do but now the plan was in motion.

(Necrovalley my friends, is over. :P Skrein still has to make a post about a sewer raid that was done to clear up all the zombie madness but thats it. I'm putting the zombies and the uber powerful gate to DR aside to now focus on another event, for which this stuff was kinda like a 'prologue' to. I'm glad for those who enjoyed it, thanks for joining in and I hope you join in The Unseen Crusade (http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=35657.0) ;) )

Discovery

Just returning from a pleasant evening sitting on a ledge overlooking Harnquist's shop, Rulek was walking back to Kada-el's when kra saw a cloaked figure, much similar to the man from the Laanx Dungeons, escaping into the sewers. Kra gave chase, trying to stay as unnoticed as possible, though with kras size, it was a hard task. Kra followed the man into a large hallway, where many necromantic creatures were walking about, and the hooded figure revealed itself to be just like them, walking into the crowd of undead fiends like nothing. Strangely, when Rulek continued to follow, none chased after kra, but eventually, a large crowd of skeletons holding weapons protected the man from being followed anymore, and kra returned to the surface. Rulek had one thing on kras mind, and that was to find Saggi.

"I'm glad you're here," Rulek said, walking into the Temple of Laanx. Saggi turned around to face him, completely unaware of what Rulek had just seen.

"Ah," Saggi said, "hello there Rulek. How are you?" Rulek simply nodded to him.

"I'm... well, I don't know." Kra said unsurely. "I found that man from earlier... I think it was the same one. The one we saw in the Dungeons. I followed him into the sewers, and there were more of those creatures lurking about." Obviously knowing what Rulek was talking about, Saggi frowned and gave a look of worry.

"Are you sure? Positive?"

"Yes... I must smell like sewer to you. I saw them, hordes of skeletons." At Rulek's words, Saggi's eyes widened, and he looked struck with fear.

"Then... then we must hurry and rid the sewers of them. Even though they are still sewers... the people of Hydlaa are not safe."

"That's what I was thinking... they could come up at any given moment," Rulek said.

"Gather who you can to meet at the temple... we need them now. We no longer have a choice. And Rulek... my apologizes. Maybe if I had been braver... just once, this could have been dealt with before it ever reached Hydlaa." When Saggi spoke, both his voice and his face held a deep depression. Rulek simply shook kras head at his words, not quite understanding the meaning behind what he said.

"No, it isn't your fault... I'll see what I can do." With that, Rulek bowed to him and made kras way back into Hydlaa to look for daring fighters that could aid them. Kra managed to find two hardened warriors, Kaerli and Monala, a strong, but not-so-bright Kran, Dilate; a young Diaboli girl, Vayl, an unusual Nolthrir, Alirukell, and with Rulek included, that made six of them.

They all gathered in the Temple awaiting Saggi's return from preparing himself for the sewer raid, and were simply learning more about each other. Though the rest of them were there to fight, Vayl had simply joined them after hearing about undead creatures in the sewers, having a connection to what was going on. The rest talked about their past glories, interests, bloodthirst... anything to keep themselves preoccupied until his return. After a few minutes of waiting, he was there, and he still carried the look of fear from earlier.

"I must thank you all for joining me on such short notice," Saggi announced to them. "We've a dangerous mission ahead of us, and I don't want any of you to go into this thinking that death is not a possibility." To his words, a few of them smirked, others simply standing and watching him as he spoke. "Last they were faced, their structures appeared to have been... brittle. I think your weapons will do well against these... things. I do still fear, though... I do not want to put you to such a dangerous task."

Just then, an armored man walked into the Temple, wondering why a crowd was gathered with weapons drawn. It was not a Hydlaa guard, but instead a man of the Dark Empire, Ruicho Fiyeg. Everyone answered him, and with excitement in his eyes, he too joined the hunt.

Saggi nodded to the group, seeming ready to go. "Alright, let us continue now," he said. "Rulek, guide us please?" And with that, the group made their way to the sewers, unsure of what they would soon find...

Nightmare

When reaching the sewer entrance behind Kada-El's, the group was stopped by a single cloaked figure standing at the end of the stairway leading down. It simply stood there, making noises that could have been interpreted as breathing, but much more disturbing. Immediately taking action, Rulek motioned for everyone to stand back as kra got into kras battle stance, but before kra could even turn kras head, the figure latched onto kra and forced kra down to the ground, throwing its entire body weight onto kra, its cloak working its way off of the figure's body, revealing it to be another necromantic creature. While struggling to pry it off, Monala tried to kick it away, but instead got kicked herself when the figure swung its own foot at her in an awkward, nearly impossible twist, only manageable by something no longer living.

Just then, Kaerli got up close to it and tried to stab one of her short swords at the back of the creature's neck, and the other at its knee in a rotation-style slash, but instead ended up missing the top slash, and the other went between the figure's legs in a very awkward position, and ultimately, she got punched in the stomach, sending her stumbling backwards. In a standing position now, the creature found itself standing before a Kran lying on the ground next to an Ynnwn, and another Ynnwn to its side recovering from a gruesome punch to the stomach, when suddenly, another Kran, Dilate, came running down the stairs almost without any kind of balance, stepping on Rulek as kra ran, and tackled the creature down, nearly crushing it under kras body weight. Struggling to break free, the creature suddenly found itself with a dagger pierced through its face, accurately thrown from behind the crowd by Ruicho. It gave out an inhumane scream and, probably severing many of its joints, finally wormed its way out from beneath the Kran, and made its way deeper into the sewers, pulling the dagger out of its face.

Facing a brief moment of peace, the group recovered from the incident, quite stunned at the strength of the creature, and gave chase, following Rulek's directions. Saggi, having been watching the fight, was in a bad panic, obviously noticing that the creature was much stronger than the ones they'd encountered in the past. Everyone was now aware of what they were facing; Dilate drew kras swords, and Thidin, just having stumbled into the crowd by some sort of accident, joined in. Immediately after her arrival, the group found themselves surrounded on both sides when reaching a fork in the path; a very small army of necromantic creatures stood with swords in their hands, ready to attack.

Kaerli, being quick to act, casted a spell to blind the undead creatures, but instead blinded the group, though luckily not long enough to keep them from reacting to the attacks. Alirukell, Thidin, and Ruicho stood on one side, while Kaerli, Rulek and Monala stood on the other, and just recovering from the blinding sting, Rulek found kraself punching at the skull of a skeleton, barely disabling it before getting attacked kraself. A tremendous fight pursued, daggers, fists, and spells being thrown, and swords cutting through the frail creatures like butter. Dilate saw the spells, cowering at the sight of them, yelling at them to stop, and that kra was scared. Kaerli danced through the crowd of creatures, feigning to attack them but stopping before the impact, simply playing with them as she went to the next one, the skeleton before her attacking either Monala or Rulek. At the end of each group were even more gruesome creatures... failed experiments by the looks of them. They were larger than the others, stronger too, but slower, and uglier. With their combined forces - Alirukell's spells, Rulek's strength, Ruicho and Thidin's precision, Monala and Kaerli's expertise - they defeated the horrific beasts, while Vayl and Saggi watched over the crowd. Saggi still held his fear, but Vayl seemed as though she wasn't surprised nor scared by what she was seeing.

"Over here! This way!" Rulek called to them, walking hastily down the path to their left, stepping on or over the skeletons. The others followed, and soon they reached a room filled with a green luminosity, occupied by two creatures; one of them was familiar, being the same one that they'd fought earlier, but the other... was quite a sight. It was hunched over, with rotted skin, and a blade in each hand. Each hand out of the four that it had. On its back protruded two extra arms hanging over its natural ones, and its hollowed eye sockets stared into the crowd lifelessly.

Expecting a fight, everyone prepared themselves. Thorns stuck from Rulek's skin, flames shot up from around Kaerli; everyone else drew their blades, and Dilate cowered from the display of magic. Saggi looked on in fear, and Vayl, completely having lost her composure, looked at the four-armed creature in horror.

"Father..." she said weakly, before the creature let out an inhumane scream that echoed through the sewers. Following it, the sounds of trampling feet, screams, and clanging drew closer to them; a much larger army of these creatures was approaching, and they were in the worst place imaginable...

Apocalyptic Confrontation

"This will be tough," Rulek said. "We have to divide." Kra looked at everyone. "Monala, Kaerli, Dilate, we'll get the one on the left. The rest, take care of the one on the right. It can't last much longer with those wounds." Everyone nodded at kras command, and moved to their positions as Rulek was already charging at the four-armed creature. Rulek drew back kras fist and aimed a punch at the creature's face, making direct contact and knocking off the creature's lower jaw. On impact, the thorns released from kras body, sticking in both of the creatures' bodies, but making very minor wounds that anything without the sense of pain wouldn't notice.

Meanwhile, Alirukell and the other creature met head-on. Trying to slash Alirukell with both of its blades, the creature found itself slashing at empty space, while Alirukell, having moved under the attack, stabbed at its knee, removing part of it. Lopsided, the creature then threw one of its daggers at Thidin, who was taken by surprise and hit in the stomach, falling to her knees in pain. Before going down completely, she threw her own dagger at the creature, hitting it once more square in the face. It staggered, but saw Alirukell making his move, so the creature did the same, grabbing at his shoulders and trying to headbutt him square between the eyes, with the dagger sticking out of his face as to hit Alirukell with the end of it. Alirukell was too slow in kicking out the creature's bad leg, and was struck right where the creature wanted to strike, becoming dazed and staggering backwards.

The four-armed creature tried to move the arms on its back up and forward, aiming for Rulek's shoulders, but was instead stopped when Rulek grabbed both of the hands, trying to pull the creature down into kras knee. However, the creature wormed free of kras grip and jumped back, just narrowly missing the dagger Monala had thrown as it flew by Rulek's head. Kaerli, having been standing back in her spire of flames, aimed an energy arrow in Nalirar's direction, but it was instead caught in one of the spires and moved up into a sewer pipe, severing it and releasing nondescript liquids at her, dousing the flames.

Thidin forced herself up and ran at the creature Alirukell was fighting, trying to stab it with her other dagger. Before she could, however, the four-armed creature, after having thrown two of its swords at Monala and Kaerli, let out a burst of electricity, threatening to strike everyone in the room. The creature that Thidin and Alirukell were fighting sensed the display of lights and moved out of the way, but ultimately moved right into Thidin's dagger. Being caught up in the moment, Thidin backed as far away from the creature as possible, luckily not having been struck by lightning herself.

The others weren't so lucky. Rulek was struck by the lightning, but was lucky enough that kras magic-resistant body negated most of the attack. Dilate, who's two-blade attack had been parried by the creature at the moment of the burst of electricity, was also struck, and backed away into a corner in fear, obviously not having been really hurt. Monala, with her wounded shoulder from one of the blades that was thrown at her, managed not to get struck, and Kaerli, being soaked with the essence of the sewers, barely dodged a bolt herself, along with the sword previously thrown at her.

The creature on the other side of the room pulled the dagger out of its face and charged at Thidin this time, staying mostly on one leg since the other was ready to crumble (though maintaining a quick speed), and though the attack was dodged, Thidin obtained a minor slash to the side of her torso, along with the previous one.

Rulek, having regained kras composure, jumped as high as the Kran could jump in front of the four-armed creature, and tried to hook both kras arms and legs between each of the its limbs and yank it down by them with kras weight. On the ground now, the creature let out another scream, and even more lightning. Rulek was forced off of the creature's body, lightning once again surging through kras body, and kra fell to the floor, this time not so lucky. Kaerli was struck as well, and the sewer juices only conducted the electricity even more, sending her staggering back into a wall. Monala was also struck, and fell to her knees.

The other creature, still running after its dagger made contact with Thidin, managed to dodge a bolt, as well as Alirukell, but Thidin herself barely managed to get away after the shock of the attack, lucky not to have been struck. As for Dilate, kra had already been far enough away from the fighting to keep from being struck, and only cowered more from the terrific sight.

Through all of the commotion, the sounds of the approaching creatures only grew louder; from the other side of the walls around them, the creatures marched. In every hallway from where they had just came, the creatures marched. Even above their heads, the booming could be heard. They were surrounded, but the skeletons were not close enough to be seen.

Recovering from the attack, Monala stood back up on one foot and aimed an energy arrow at the four-armed beast, only to be side-stepped yet again and, instead of a sword being thrown at her, it was one of the creatures own arms that it ripped from its back. Unable to move away, Monala was struck by the arm and pushed back slightly into a seated position on her leg, but was not fatally wounded from it. Meanwhile, Saggi, finally moving into the fray, made his way to Rulek and infused healing energy into kra, letting kra stand back up after having been struck twice by the full force of the magical attacks.

Kaerli, having just recovered from the lightning herself, stood up while dripping with sewer water, and in anger, blinded everyone yet again with a spell, following it by running up to the now-three-armed creature and striking it in the torso with her sword, the beast screaming once more.

Regaining her vision, Thidin threw her remaining dagger at the creature, striking it once more in the face. Now without a lower jaw and nose, most of its face hollowed, the creature threw a dagger back at Thidin before its body collapsed on itself from Alirukell's kick at its bad knee. Thidin was hit, and staggered back, carrying three wounds and bleeding profoundly before Saggi moved his way to her and healed her as he did Rulek.

Suddenly, after Kaerli's attack, the three-armed creature funneled dark magic into the collapsed body of its comrade, Kaerli backing away. The creature began to control its comrades limbs, and they attached themselves to it, head included; now, they were one... one creature of apocalypse.

The End of the Apocalypse

Now two-headed with multiple limbs, the creature stood fiercely. The second head suddenly sprung to life, the hollowed part of its skull gone now, leaving nothing but the eyes and top of the head, and from its eyes, lightning erupted toward the group, while darkness erupted from the creature's body and filled the room with a corrupting energy. Rulek, with new vitality, rushed at the beast, dodging the lightning and being completely immune to the corruption, and aimed a punch directly at the source of the lightning. Rulek's fist broke through the lightning and cleaved the head clean off, crumbling it to dust, a few of the creature's limbs going with it, showing great instability. Through this incident, the corruption didn't spread far, and the lightning stopped before striking anyone else, allowing Saggi to heal Monala's horrific injuries slightly.

The banging grew even louder; with each passing second, it sounded like a horde of necromantic creatures would burst through the walls and ceiling. However, with one final attack, the creature before Rulek crumbled to dust, letting out one final scream before its demise. Rulek sank to kras knees, weary from the fighting, and the sounds suddenly stopped... this creature was the lifeline of all the others. Kra looked around, seeing that everyone else was well and not at risk of death. Saggi moved to heal Thidin's wounds, and finally having the chance to speak, she asked her question out in the open.

"Who in the gods' names are you?"

"A priest of Laanx," Saggi answered, "who... without a doubt, has brought all of this upon us."
