Instead of holding down the shift key, try clicking the CTRL key to toggle run/walk mode.

Well, I can run forwards, backwards. I can also strafe left and right while holding shift, it's even a bit
faster than without, just the animation is the same. Maybe there's something wrong with your keyboard?
Windows client on Vista.

(If you find that bug horrible, then boy, you're in for a ride  )

It depends on your keyboard (and driver). It just does not send a new key value if you use it that way. When you toggle run (so you do not have to have multiple keys pressed) there will be no problem. There is no way PS can change this I think.

I do have this issue too, due to cheap keyboards with blocking keys. The best thing you can do is edit your keyboard settings in PS and put the movement keys to non-blocking keys. For me the numblock works ver well, the only thing that block there is running backwards in either right or left, not sure.

My movement keys are as follows: 8: Forward, 4: Left, 5: Back, 6: right.
The 2nd movement set is still on qweasd - I'm just not used to lefthand movement :P
