Title: No video, but GUI is completely useable.
Post by: Timmothy Perriwinkle on August 01, 2009, 06:43:27 pm
So, I've got PS working, mostly. Except for, y'know, the video.

When I launch and get to the char selection screen, it's completely black in the centre, instead of showing the character on the podium.

Then, after loading, the GUI is completely useable, but the video doesn't update. However, if I move, then drag another window over top of the client, the character will show up, and the movements definitely worked, but I have to keep dragging a window all around like an eraser tool to see any progress.

Terminal output: http://pastebin.com/m22b33388

Ideas?

We all know your hardware, graphic chipset, driver version. No need to tell us. ;)

:surrender: intel graphics ... Anything can happen with those.

Nvidia GeForce is most recommended. ATI Radeon as second. The whole rest not really.

I am pretty sure you will find more technical issues related to intel graphic chipsets in this forum.

Hi.

I've (kind of) solved this issue, by upgrading all packages relating to graphics to their git versions. So that's mesa, libgl, libdrm, xf86-video-intel, intel-dri, dri2proto.

Now my drivers work (this was indeed a drivers problem) the client doesn't fully work yet, but I tested with walktest, so all errors herein are PS's fault, which pleases me (becasue it's generally easier to fix)
