Title: Offten client crashes.

Kubuntu 9.04

My client often crashes leaving such error messages:

This is known as the "Leaf Bug", and affects the Linux Client badly. Further down this forum, someone has released a rebuilt version of the client which also removes the "sticky Road" bug as well.  You would do well to read that thread.

Hi,

Once the installation of the package is done, how do I go in the game ?

By starting the launcher I get a page withs "settings, play etc." buttons. By clicking play it closes the window.

Can someone help me please ?

You should open a new post for this.

If you're on Linux:

cd /wherever/you/installed/Planeshift/
./psclient

Try opening it with sudo

sudo ./psclient

if you have it installed under /usr/share, it might happen you don't have the permissions to run it.

You may also have done something in the instalation wrong.

Edit: I recommend you to install it under your home folder.

Hi,

I don't choose the installation folder, it is an autopackage and everything is automatic.

To launch psclient I needed to gave permissions with chmod and it brought me to the situation described previously...

How can I choose the installation folder with an autopackage ?

autopackage? How did you install Planeshift??

Because of the constant crashes on linux I installed the version under this link :

But it doesn't work. Maybe because of my linux version (jaunty) ?

Tomorrow I'll try to build my own client.

Or if you have an advice for the autopackage version?

I'm under Ubuntu Jaunty too.

The original client installer (the one you download from www.planeshift.it) works fine but crashes.

The self-compiled installation doesn't crash (:D) but requires to get the art from an installation from the original installer.

Don't get other packages because they might not work

Did you copy the art from the offical client into /usr/share/planeshift/art as mentioned in the installation instructions?
