I was doing some cleaning on my mac. I think I may have deleted some files on accident with PS. I tried to load the game and it would freeze everytime when it loaded the world. I have deleted the client and am wanting to reinstall. I tried to install the mac os 10.3 torrent download. When I try to open it, it uses my media program to open it so nothing happens. Should I go to apples website and download from there? I was trying to do the torrent download as PS has asked. Any suggestions?

Only use the torrents when a new release was just built.
At the moment, we already have up-to-date mirrors, so you should instead rather use a HTTP download.

HTTP Download? I am downloading from Apples dowload page at the moment. Then was going to use the updater. Although it is the latest version of PS that I am downloading so do I need to run the updater?

Most probably yes. I am not sure if the whole 300 MB installer gets updated each time an update appears.
