I'm having trouble with PlaneShift's character creation. I can change gender and character name no problem, however, as soon as I choose a race, all of these options freeze. I have tried this with multiple races.
I can't switch races.
I can't switch genders
I can't choose a name.
I can't go to the next or previous screens.
Is this a bug? If not, what am I doing wrong? Thanks for the help :)

what OS do you have?
what video card do you have? what is the driver version installed for it?

I'm also having trouble in the character creation screen. It doesn't freeze, but I'm consistently disconnected after about 10 minutes, for no apparent reason.

Hi, I'm having the exact same problem.
At the character creation page I cannot change the race, gender and how the character looks. The 'prev' and '?' buttons do not work. The random button works.
I just updated the client and have the newest version.
Sorry, I don't know how to check my computer stuff, but my computer is new, about two years old.
Oh, I can't see the character either. I just see the background and some of the words cannot be seen.

I am having this issue, as well. I am using Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic. My graphics card is Intel and all my drivers are current. i know it is not my system, because I can run Sims 3 with no issue whatsoever.
Here is what is happening:
I can log in just fine. When I get to the next screen, there is no text in the box to create a character and the pointer is not visible. With some work, however, I can click on through to the next screen. There is nothing in the center- it is just a frame around black where the character should be. I can see my pointer, though. I can select gender and enter a name, but as soon as I select a race, it freezes.
I have tried to uninstall and reinstall, as well as numerous updating. nothing seems to be working. Any suggestions? Help would be much appreciated.

unfortunately intel video cards drivers have serious issues. Nothing to do than playing with mesa and intel drivers hoping to get the right one.

That sucks. Is that something that will be worked out at some point?

it's up to mesa/intel developers. or you could try disabling random extensions in cs by playing with the gldrivers.xml (iirc)
