Title: Segfault when trying to install PlaneShift
Post by: xxxxme on August 25, 2009, 07:46:52 am
I downloaded the x86 PlaneShift-0.4.3 client from the Download section on the main page.  The md5sum matches the one in the sticky http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=19389.0 .  But when I try to run the installer, I'm told only "Segmentation Fault".  How can I get this game to work?  An older version (I don't know which one) worked for me, and I'd like to see how the game's advanced since then.

Can you post your system specs, like your OS your graphics card and so on?

Gentoo Linux x86 (latest stable updates)
nVidia GeForce 8600GT (512 MB, PCI-e, with nvidia proprietary drivers (are there any good graphics cards with good free 3D drivers?))

Intel Dual Core CPU
2GB RAM

I did find that running the installer with --mode=text works.  But I would think that being able run the GUI installer at the user's choice would be good.
