Any way to get back a character once you have deleted it

I think a character was once recovered from a backup, yes. But events like those made the developers implement a better "character-deletion protection" where you have to verify the deletion by entering your password again and by confirming a question dialogue. If you still accidentally delete your character with all that, I don't think you'll get a lot of compassion ;)

Delete = R.I.P. character.
