Ok, my system:
Pentium 4 2.4 Ghz
120 gig hardrive
1 gig ram
3mbit cable modem
Geforce 4 Ti4600
Windows XP
No Firewall
The lag is horrible... I\'ve tried changing resolution, used software mode, GL mode, changing sound, music, etc... everything to make it go smoothly... The game lags and jerks every few seconds and halts running for 10-30 seconds each time it lags. I don\'t know what to do. Anyone have any suggestions? Also, will a new patch come out to fix this crazy problem ?( ? I\'m losing my mind here :D ...

for the beginning I could recommend a thread Jorrit started some time ago:
for 64/128MB vid cards (http://planeshift.oodlz.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=3009&boardid=13)
I guess you use recent drivers for all components (chipset, vid-card ...) and you have proper system settings (like AGP 8x turned on in the bios etc.)
I know there is some lag once in a while, but on my 1533MHz Athlon-XP, 512MB Ram, gf3 the game runs smoothly about 40-50 fps most of the time.
I use linux not win, but with your specs there shouldn\'t be much lag anyways.
Did you ever run any benchmarks ? Do other games run smoothly ?
Edit: One more thing try to deactivate all those little things running in the background (like cdrw progs, p2p (point to point, not pay2play here..;)) clients and so on, only run the most necessary things (like a virus protection)

Nope, still nothing.
Tried the Jorrit edit for both 128mb and 64mb cards.
Tried shutting off all apps in background.
Updated drivers to most current configuration.
Other games: on Counter-Strike my ping is about 70 or less, and benchmarks are good. Unreal 2003 multiplayer also runs fast.
Results: More laaaag.... :( . Does this have something to do with the server location? If so, they should try adding servers if possible or/and fixing and refining net code. From what I hear, I\'m not alone on this.
