@ Sarras:

Don't forget to

a) create a petition,
b) ask in IRC channel #planeshift-gmtalk

You never know when (if) a GM may look into the forums...

be a good citizen and pick them up yourself...

Technically I could buy 1000 apples in real life too and throw them all over a building, so this isn't necessarily an OOC-thing a GM should deal with. I wonder how that person managed to get all those apples there without anybody noticing though. Does he have lots of accomplices? ;) I would most certainly have chased after him for fouling such a neat tavern :)

GMs can debate about sense and nonsense and leave an annoyed player with the sad feeling that "the guys up on their ivory tower" don't care about them.

Or they can pick up all items in a certain distance (what simple players can not do).

Creating areas of lag and making the game unplayable on older hardware is a spoiling of other players' fun. Incredible that GMs could be "not responsible" for supporting to solve this issue.

You can see the stats on the Laanx server page. You can see how lonely the server can get during some daytimes. The probability for not meeting anyone in the tavern is not surprising.

I think the issue here was the horrendous lag generated by all these apples.
Suggesting that a player who can barely move their character or mouse pointer due to the almost nonexistent frame-rate is not being a good citizen if they want help with a technical issue seems a bit odd. And whether the action of placing the apples was OOC or IC becomes a moot point when the game is unplayable. What seems easy to someone on one computer may be nearly impossible on another...

Just my 2 tria, and that is all it's worth.

Well, at least some of that lag should be fixed next release. A new system for showing many of the same items will result in less lag :)

@sarras you can easily make a shortcut for targeting and picking up the next item

Ie.

Target next-item
Pickup $target

the only problem with this is that picked up items won't stack - so each time you inventory fills up you need to stack or eat the items.

I did this once in hydlaa plaza.. Someone was was thoughtful enough to create a trail of pies, mugs and water pouches ( about 200 items in total ) took about a half hour to clean up alone. With help of a few players it would have taken much less time.

I can see how the original post could have been interpreted as "gm - cleanup in isle 6"

i asked in irc channel, no one was around

be a good citizen and pick them up yourself...

i was able to with the help of another player. it took about an hour because all the lag. and wasted precious sleeping time.

this should count for a community service hour

i think i should go ahead and spit it out: your GMs are soooo lazy!

/me cowers

It's a community, don't dare point the finger, it's a communal responsibility.

No one is being paid, complaints are moot.

If you can't do it yourself, or you have trouble doing it, remove yourself from the area and ask for help.

It seems really rather easy to me. If we catch people doing this it will be an immediate ban.

Remember we all live in different time zones, Sarras. Actually I did log in as soon as I read your post here, but the apples were already picked up.

 * I do appreciate you and the other player for picking up the apples too! Thanks!
