Title: More agressive monsters
Post by: Samelson on September 18, 2009, 01:53:31 pm
I have been playing for a few weeks now. The monsters seemed to be somewhat pacific, they would not attack unless i would attack first. Now, for the last day or two, if i come too close to a monster, it attacks me. A Rogue has followed me for a mile or so, rats are chasing me and, believe it or not, i have been killing by a chicken!

Something has cjanged in the game, or monsters avoid newbies until they reach a certain level?

i think the monsters can perceive strength.

but it could also be that the engine team has turned the more complex critter perceptions back on. so now they can see you rather than just feel you when you poke them with a stick.

Yesterday I was ignored by an ulbernaut, and attacked by a rat. Seems weird, but, on the same token, I didnt have to run from an ulbernaut.  ;D

Quite frankly I think it depends on how well the monster-npc system is working or what monsters are programmed to do. For example, in the sewers 1-2 of the 3 rats at the entrance follow you and attack you while the other one just sits there. So the program is weird right? And in the arena, it's a good think they don't chase you or else we'd probably have much laggy (and probably a lot of monsters stuck in walls) :(

So really I think it's just what the program feels like doing these days.

Some monsters are more aggressive than others; also, looks can be deceiving (ex. the killer Kikiri of Ojaveda)

A maulbernaut looks cute and fuzzy but it is not as loving as you would first think.  :'(

You just need to learn the right way to pet them, they need love like anyone else...
Stop the slaughter of Yliakum's intelligent and sensitive animals!   :P
