I got a P4 1.8Ghz with a GeForce 2 64mb and WinXP. I\'ve changed the compatibility thing to Win98/ME.
Anyway, once I start the game, it take a year to load the world, and this was not just the first time. When it finally ends up loading, it\'s as slow as 3 FPS or less, sometimes it seems to get stuck.
I\'ve no idea what the problem is, if you can please help me I\'ll be very greatful.
Thanks in advanve.

Well, at the moment I don\'t have any idea either. There is a wide range of performances that people get so trying to pin it down to one single thing is very difficult.
What might be nice is if somebody could crawl the forums and try to come up with a list of hardware specs related to performance. This would help use try to figure out what factors seems to have the most influence on performances.

Make sure not to have opengl clamp enabled, and also try running at the resolution of 1024x768 in fullscreen for the game, for some odd reason I seem to get a higher frame rate for 1024x768 that 640x480 :? Also if you haven\'t already try setting the game colour to 16-bit.

For what is worth:
Game slow as hell frozen over ;-)
Specs:
P4 1.8Ghz
GeForce 2 MX/MX 64MB (winXP drivers, and now latest nvidia drivers too)
WinXP Home
I\'ve also changed the compatibility mode to Win98/ME.

I started the game once by clicking the shortcut that was created(the one with the yellow \"PS\" ) and got that. It turned out that that was \"safe mode\" and is insufferably slow.
I had much more acceptable results by going to program files/planeshift/psclient.exe Rightclick it, click on send to, and send to desktop(shortcut). Then you will have a generic icon on the desktop to use.
But first click on updater.exe, and after that click on pssetup.exe to set some video options.
Post back with us and let us know if that helps.

it works nicely for me :)
athlon-tbird 900Mhz

Well I\'m guessing the internet connection has a little to do with the lag :) ?
So get DSL or cable.
I have 1.5 GHz
32M Nvidia
256 ram
the game sometimes freezes for short periods of time.
but most of the time plays fine.
(plays fine: Im not going into other issues)

Maybe this will help some. The game runs slow for me as well in small screen.. I cannot seem to find the full.screen option in PSclient.
During game run, CPU usage caps at 100% pagefile will equal 440 mb or so on this system.
If it would help I would send someone via e-mail the complete dxdiag file, but this details my system.
