Post by: bbum on May 07, 2003, 02:15:39 am
hey guys, glad to see molecular blue is out, i dont know why people say planeshift is a dead end project... theres lots of free projects, and mods being developed, and the engine seems good enough,

anyway ive  been learning more about maya, and taking more classes. heres some pics.
remember that car i was making?

im also about to go into advanced animation, skinning and, kinematics, rendering. and some day dynamics.

Sweet! Thats some nice work! So is that the same car model that you first showed us when you came? Thats some \"uber-rific\" pieces of work.

Wow man. I\'m always amazed when  I see people who can model like that. If you\'re at all interested in joining the team, I would definitely contact them and help in making this game better for everyone :)

You ought to hook yourself up with one of the devs. I\'m impressed!

Well the cars is good but not especially interesting, except it shows some good technical skills.

The space is cool, some interesting effects.

I\'m curious to know if you\'ve drawn the reference in the background. This head looks cool.
Modeler are always useful, we got the skinners.

Well the space brings an idea to mind. The night time could show how Planeshift is on a different planet.

Go work for the Devs, they\'ll love ya man!

one word...

WOW

Request: Can we get more screen shots of the car from diffrent angles?

I\'v had many ideas in my head for cars ect ect, Myself wishing I could do stuff like that. Reason I became a draftsman.

I might toss a few to you in 2D

you should draw some characters in 2-d if you have the skills.

and the point i was trying to make before was i didnt need to join the team, i would just create things and send them since im 15, and you guys were saying how people cant join under 16

oh yeah, and crow, i use maya, and it comes with some pretty nice tutorials, i couldnt figure 3dsmax out, it had no tutorials... i dont think

You know, the \"under 16 forbidden\" is a protection.
It\'s RARE to see interesting people for game at that age. I mean they can be kiddy, they can be lazy or making you loose your time. Of course it\'s not true for everyone, but in video games, it\'s common.

I\'m not really older than you, I\'ve just passed 19.
If you feel you can assume such job, just have a try, you\'ll have a one week test.
Now you must see that with Boonet.

yeah i understand the noone under 16 thing, theres nothing wrong with it, but I personaly am not lazy, im graduated so i have alot of free time ...all i can do now is work on some free projects to put on my portfolio and apply at a few game companys in cali, then ill probly try to do some animation for some movie companys once i have some experience, because alot of the training i got is past what they can put into videogames.

but what do you mean your not really older than me? im 15.

and do you have some more info on how i can get a one week test?

know what would be cool? if i took this model  - head.jpg (http://www.freewebs.com/bbum/head.JPG) and converted it to polygons, toned it down, and messed with it to look like a diaboli male, maybe devs would take it??

im farther on the model now to. i did the eyes nose mouth and horns in detail

I don\'t mean to steer this thread around, but I thought this was a good place to put it without having to give it its own thread...

...Does anyone else think the character models look funny in motion?  They move weird.  It\'s something I\'m sure the devs are tinkering or plan to tinker with right now, but it\'s something that kind of bothers me.  I like the overall style of the game and the character models look very nice--until they start moving.

you should of seen the walking before, lol.

btw check out these new screens of some differnet character emotions.

http://www.freewebs.com/bbum/faces.JPG (http://www.freewebs.com/bbum/faces.JPG)

they need to time the speed just with the animation to make it look right, so it looks like his feet are moveing back and forth acordingly ... i guess
