The Hopeful Ambling of Feonu, and his Sanitorium Blues
Feonu did not know what was to become of him, what was going to happen to him. None of the healers, even the best of them could cure his foot and disease. He is in despair, the only thing that drives him forward is the ability of some healers to numb his pain for a short period of time.
Wandering out of the sanitorium with a new sense of hope after his pain had been numbed, Feonu prances around Hydlaa, seeing all of the people that he knew and was friendly with, and as he wanders out into the plaza alone, he hears a dwarf screaming about the end of the world, and doom. Nothing could upset Feonu more, so what Feonu does is stick his head underwater in the plaza's fountain to drown out the shouting of the dwarf.
When the dwarf stops his shouting and the people around him stop him from doing so, Feonu picks his head up out of the water and listens into what the people have to say. They seemed either upset or agreeable with what the dwarf had to say. Controversy. In the end everybody was tired, and when Feonu picked up that a Nolthrir woman wanted to go to the tavern, the word tavern rung through Feonu's ears. He wanted to be by that fireplace but could not get himself up the stairway towards the tavern with his foot and its painful wound. "M...Mellas t....take me t....t..to the t....t..tavern." Feonu exclaimed as he remembered the woman from long ago. The woman next to her whispers something in her ear, and Mellas nods, taking Feonu across the plaza. When Feonu notices that he is being taken back to the sanatorium, he pushes away from Mellas, falling upon the ground.
Feonu began to yell at her "I don't want to go there! I hate that place!" And Mellas responded in a calm voice that it was only for his health that she was bringing him there, and that the diaboli woman that was whispering to her wanted to help him, but he resisted, and Mellas attempted to knock him out so that she could get him to the sanatorium. With the hilt of a sabre he was hit in the head, but one hit did not do the job, and Feonu pulled out a weapon of his own, A falchon. Mellas gave up as the diaboli woman approached the situation, and she made her way somewhere else.
The diaboli lady calms Feonu down and explains things to him, and he sheaths his falchon feeling like she is trustworthy, and follows her into the sanitorium. In the sanitorium, she begins to get all sorts of herbs and medicines together to make a soupy potion that Feonu is to drink. Feonu lies down on the bed and struggles to even think about drinking another nasty potion, and he finds and absolution for bad taste in his bag: a third a loaf of bread. Comforted with this find, he drinks down the revulsion of a potion, and ate his bread down very quickly after the potion had been drunk.
After a while he felt a good bit better, and with this good feeling he sat up in the bed, and began to converse with the woman instead of ignore her. They began to talk about his health, this was what usual thing is for a healer to do, and things got deeper into Feonu's mystery of an illness. He explained to her that he was unconscious when he was wounded, so he couldn't have known who the person that gave him the glowing wound and sickness he thinks is the uncommons disease. The part of a cloak was also a clue that this wound was magically inflicted by a person, and a person that is skillful in the dark magics. In the conversation, numbing paste was put onto Feonu's wounded foot, and this could be known to sting, so the woman smeared it on quickly.
When the conversation was losing its interest, and both of them were running out of things to say, Feonu heard a scream coming from the plaza area. He put his boot onto his pasted foot, and stumbled his way out of the tent, and into the street.
He soon found out what all this screaming and hollering was when three figures approached the tent from a distance. It was a Ylian man, a Dermorian woman, and a seemingly wounded young menki. Feonu scurried back into the tent after being seen by these three figures, and mentioned to the woman that new patients were coming for her. She gathered supplies as they arrived, and arrived with much noise did the wounded Menki. His skull was damaged.
Explaining how this happened was the most interesting thing to Feonu when he heard that a cloaked figure had attacked him. The menki explained in a trembling and terrified voice as he described the figure and what it did. What the figure did was obvious; it blunted the menki in the head with some weapon of sorts, Feonu didn't catch what kind of weapon it was, for that did not interest him. What interested him was further description of the figure: It sounded like a man, but somehow the menki knew the figure was a female. He said that the female was somewhat short, so Ynnwn was out of the question in Feonu's mind as he listened in. The female figure also had the most intense of glares in her eyes, and then the Menki could say no more. He went unconscious.
Feonu wants more description, so he begins to keep eye on the unconscious fellow patient of his, waiting for him to wake.
The Final Attempt To Cure: The Impure Way
Feonu wakes up to find a new visitor for him in the sanatorium. Feonu finds that the new face is a fenki, white with black stripes, and around his own height. He does not see enough to make good judgment. She begins to talk to him in a sweet voice, making introductions, as Feonu responds in his usual stutter. She seats herself in a chair near the bed and asks Feonu what is wrong with him, watching him cough as if he is gasping for air. "Im s..s...s...sick, wh..what else does it look l..l..like?" She wonders what it is, and asks "Sick with what?" Feonu shrugs "I d..d...don't know m..m...might be u..u..uncommons." She then asks a question that strikes Feonu as odd, and sickeningly depressing.
"So you know you are already going to die then, huh?"
Feonu looks away from the fenki with a sad face, and feel angry that she could revive the thought that was hiding deep within his mind; that he might be dying. He feels angry that she revived such a though, angry that he has to face a possibility. He accepts with his absence of any hope. The Fenki might have caught this despair, she might have grabbed it, having implied, "I can help you." This grasp was not noticed by Feonu. The word "help" brings back hope. Feonu coughs, and asks the Fenki, "W...w...well w..w...what is it?" What came next out of the fenki's answer changed everything Feonu had hoped for as she looks around the room and whispers, "Death!"
The word opens every possibility of true suspicion, fear, and anger toward the fenki. He could see her in a way that he never saw her before. In this moment he thought he was going to be murdered by her, in this moment he thought she was the one who infected him, in this moment he knew she did not want to look at her in any other way. There were other ways, shrouded by one word. Feonu responds in the only way he knows how, being slightly religious "T...t...that is im...impure!" The fenki snickers at him "Do i look impure?" Feonu begins to grow with suspicion, and more so with fear, pulling out one of his falcons, crawling back toward the bedpost, and pointing the falcon in the fenki's direction with shaky hands. "S..s...stay away!" The fenki makes a quick response, creating a black orb in her hands "I advise you to put that down." Feonu sneezes and lets the particles fly into the air. "G..g...go ahead, sho..shoot me with that orb..y..you witch! I'm g..g...going to d..d..die anyways." Feonu cracks his neck in an insane manner, shaking his falcon, pointing it at the fenki.
Unnoticed behind the tent, there are footsteps pattering about.
"I like you, you know what is coming for you." The fenki says as she keeps her dark orb steady between her hands. Feonu slaps his falcon down onto the bed, tired of holding it. "I wou...wou...wouldn't touch me if i w..w..were you!" Feonu takes his boot off, revealing the glowing wound on his foot. The fenki laughs again, and shrugs "Who said i was going to touch you?" Feonu lets his grip off off his falcon and coughs a pleura of mucus into his hand. "I c...c...can t..t..touch you." Feonu begins to rebel against the fenki, with his own illness. A resort he would only use out of fear. The Fenki spots a green figure running toward the sanatorium in the distance, and makes the dark orbs dissipate into the air. "I just want to help you, you just do not like the way i help." Feonu becomes infuriated, he loses himself in the argument, lost against optimism. All he does not is blame, conspire, and shout without being taken seriously.
Tinwei steps into the sanatorium tent and is greeted by Feonu shouting at the fenki. "I do..do..don't t..t..think you even w..w..want to help me! I t..t..think you want to k..k..k...kill me! I b..b..bet you are t..t..the one who g..g...gave me this g..g...glowing nightmare!"
A malicious cackle is unheard, coming from the outside of the tent.
Tinwei waves at Feonu, and then lets her hand fall down as her face beams a frown. Tinwei can only speculate from her previous experiences with Feonu that he is afraid of something. Feonu looks at Tinwei and puts his mucus filled hand back onto the falchon handle. "S..s..she wants t..t..to kill me Tinwei! G..g..go call f..f..for help!" The fenki shakes her head at Feonu "Oh, but i am only trying to help him, he seems a bit afraid of strangers though." Tinwei tilts her head "Are you sure ya' not doin' an'ything wrong? Fwo-Feonu can get scared silly though!" The fenki stands up out of the seat and walks Tinwei out of the tent, out of Feonu's hearing range. The only thing that he heard from the two was that the fenki told Tinwei "Your friend is in good hands, i am going to help him." And Tinwei scurried away into the city. The fenki walks back into the tent. Feonu can only shake his head at the fenki, bursting into tears "S..s...stay away f..f..from me lady! J..j..just go aw..aw...away!"
The fenki narrows her eyes. "Listen klyros, i can help you. It will get rid of your disease as soon as you get through the death realm, pure or not, you should not suffer. I can even kill myself and lead you through." The fenki smirks, and glares at Feonu, "However, i won't do this for free." Feonu looks down at his foot, grabs his boot, and slides it back on, no longer being able to look at the wound any longer. He looks up at the fenki with the wonder of the use of the word 'free', being of the poorest of the poor. "Wh..what do you w..want?" The fenki grins, looking out toward the city. "Well wouldn't you owe me your life for saving it?" Feonu shakes his head silently and mutters "N..no." The fenki responds "Then you will die a slow, agonizing, and painful death. Me helping you through the realm would be better than a burial well."
"Why w..w..would i e..end up in a b..b..burial well?" The question is unanswered. Feonu turns around, hearing a strange noise of a raspy voice. "W...what was that n..noise?" The fenki shrugs "I didn't hear any noise." Feonu holds onto his stomach as it growls. "I am h..h..hungry." The fenki rolls her eyes and growls, "Focus! What do you want? Do you want to die painfully or would you rather die so that you can feel better?" Thinking about the question, Feonu can hear footsteps, and the next thing he knows a sack is thrown at the entrance of the sanatorium. "W..what is in that s..s..sack?" Feonu points his claw at the entrance, where the sack lies. The fenki grows impatient, and raises her voice, "Well answer the question! I don't have any food for you, so you either take my offer or you don't! Be cured, or die painfully!" Feonu begins to think frantically, and yells out, "I don't w..want to d..die! I t..t..take your offer!"
Feonu grabs his falcon, and raises it up to his neck, slitting it forcefully until he has no more breath. His soul drifts into the Death Realm, as his body refills his soul.
