Do the old members get all the benefits and the new players have to struggle even harder than before? Getting 1 pp for killing trepors, tefusangs and rogues is a joke. New players can not kill the Dlayo's or the Marfusangs for good pp's so what are they supposed to do? You can't say sell loot because that has been crap for a few weeks now unless you expect everyone to just sell health pots and daggers. even the npc price for weapons has dropped. Before messing around with those things why not sort out the bugs in the game first like quests that do not work, log in problems, serious lag, crashes and so on. I have not been here for that long but thought it was a good game.
There is a fine line between helping and being a smartass as well. Seems a lot of people don't know where that line is

combat system is fubar'd. can't hit mobs because i'm "too far away." ya right. can't train at all, not much a reason to play.

Combat system, is that what it's called. I notice we don't move any differently but everything else can move faster and turn a lot faster. Why do we max our stats if we still move like old men compared to what we have to fight?

Keep in mind that in the midst of the client change, some things got messed up. had people tested it while it was on the EZPC server, it would be in better shape. If you really have a problem with the combat system. Post a bug report about it.

I understand it's all our fault for not being there to test it. I did try however but was lagged so badly that I could not move and when I did make it to a new area I couldn't change maps anyway as I would just crash. What I'm saying is why make changes like the amount of pp's you get for fighting and things like that when there are bigger issues at hand that seem to make sense to fix first. It's only since we upgraded to .5 that I can move on the ezpc server, if I had been bale to while it was in testing I would have lived in there and played a hell of a lot more than I do/did.
Keep up the good work anyway guys. Once it's all fixed I'm sure it's going to be awesome. I'm not trying to piss anyone off, just can't see why some choices are made while others are ignored. :)

not everyone is able to do everything that's the reason the pp weren't changed but set to zero so the computer computes it like any rpg does after all (they either increase the amount needed to level up or lower the exp obtained from a mob as you increase in power) the same was done here. we have since half a year finally a dedicated rules team. they can't fix crashes which are mostly even in crystal space so out of the hand of even most engine devs (lately only xordan) so it's not really we aren't fixing more important things it's more some people are skilled in a and others in b simple :).
anyway for the crashes you've outlined they were fixed by using always run now and updating the client

I think it is vital to the project that some efforts is put into new rules. I don't expect such changes to be perfect from the beginnin. Let us see what the near future will hold.

that's another showing of the ack bug we still don't know what is it but they work well on localhost so the npcclient and npc behaviours are ok it's just a networking issue

Sarras - Last night the Trepors in the arena were acting normal for me. Just standing there letting me slice away at them, if that can be considered normal ;D

I had a lot of trouble fighting the critters that moved but I have since discovered that if the are aggressive then all you need do is stand and wait for them to approach. Maybe this is due to some recent changes, maybe not. The ones that do not move are as easy as ever.
Do the trepors hit a lot harder now? it used to be you were completely safe from them if you had leather armor and just a little skill, 10 pp's was a bit excessive, but as other activities gave little experience it was fine. Crafting seems to be more rewarding now, at least mining is and the quests really need testing. There is lots to do

You don't mention your character name, so we can't put old vs. new into any context. Old could be 6 mos or 6 years. New could be 6 days or weeks. Additionally we can't evaluate your results without stats details, as kill experience is calculated now, instead of being a flat award. Dlayo's and Marfu's are to challenge more advanced characters, by design. Since loot wasn't changed with the most recent release, nor much at all in the last year, more specifics might be useful. Also we haven't touched base weapons prices at all, however with a new formula in this release, NPC offers are now quality based, so better quality -> higher offers. If you tried to sell a ruined weapon to an NPC, yes, they offered scrap value for it.
Before messing around with those things why not sort out the bugs in the game first like quests that do not work, log in problems, serious lag, crashes and so on. I have not been here for that long but thought it was a good game.

But i couldnt because all i saw was blackness i then told the devs on IRC and all i get is MORE work to try figure out, they gave me a link to some random website and said to report a bug on it. So i asked how i dont see a button saying "report bugs here" and they just said read the instcructions on the page so i said where on the page? No reply so there you go. sorry devs you lost my bit of help.

To the original post of this thread: Beginners are not being punished. The PP value has been changed for the mid level mobs as well. I no longer get 30-ish PP for an ulbernaught kill, I get 7 or 8. For killing trepors, I get about 1 PP for every 2 trepors I kill. I do not think that I'm being favored, lol. However, I think that I did get more PP now then I used to when working on my character's second trade [smelting]. It is nice to see more PP being earned by doing tradesman work; hopefully this will lessen the pressure on the mobs as the main source of PP. My character's main trade has always been hunting, so she probably will still spend a lot of time killing mobs still, lol.
The system is changing and we all just need to be patient as the dev team works out bugs. It seems to me they are also working on finding a balance to the whole PP/training system. Let them work and stop trying to put oldbies against newbies. Btw, I consider myself a mid level player.

So lets link this up with exhustion then. So how come everyone is saying train some stats and no need for a beginners trial. When how are they going to train when PP for them is so hard to get. To max STR it takes about 3000-4000 PP so you will have to kill 3000-4000 trepors. Id just go pay for anouther game instead. ( But im not a noob anymor)
Well yes everything has to be even or the devs will find to meany players doing one thing. But id say wait till they have more ways of getting tria implimented (e.g drawing, better cooking system, etc).

To max STR it takes about 3000-4000 PP so you will have to kill 3000-4000 trepors.
So if a weak character wants to max all of his/her/kras stats out, then they would have to kill about 18,000 trepors. Sorry I cannot do that, because I need my eyes and index finger.

Well I was training Heavy Armor on Trepors when I got a (not responding) yeah yeah so I reloged and found my self in the Death Realm so 20minutes later I got out. (it took me 20mins to get out because turning would always turn me to sharp [lagy] ) I then found my self re spawning in Hydlaa Plaza when expecting to be in Ojaveda I'm an Enkidukai why are everyone re spawning in hydlaa? what's wrong with the old way? less lag aswel. and also spawning in Hydlaa after Death Realm is just asking for a fight (players come out invntories are to heavy with Dakkru's course they pull out a seduction everyone goes nuts!)
1 if you want to have everyone re spawning after DR in Hydlaa eather just out side of Hydlaa or in the Arena
2 Ojaveda is empty now what's wrong with having Enkidukais re pawning there? (if you think it is pointless then its pointless having Ojaveda you might aswel just take it out to save disc space on players PCs).
3 why is everyone busy trying to make Hydlaa popular yes Hydlaa is the capital of Yliakum but... (in NZ Auckland is our largest city Wellington is our capital, USA I think New York is there largest city WDC is there capital, Australia Melbourn i think is there capital Sydney is there largest.) also when PS becomes larger and travelling is a problem there must be a new system for this!

Did you try adjusting the graphics settings ?
- try running pslaunch and lowering resolution, turning shadows off, turning down quality settings etc..
Are you fighting with the stats window open ?
- If so then keep it closed it while fighting
Try and keep a minimal number of applications open when playing - each application ( like web browsers ) consumes ram. If you create a significant memory shortage it will slow the game down. ( due to swapping / thrashing / paging )

Respawning in Hydlaa has alreay been discussed in another thead.
Keep your inventory <= 1/2 full and you wont have to pull out a seduction wep. :)

I'm using my brothers (Akaiddos) laptop and I never like using Google Chrome and there is no other web browser, not like Google Chrome takes up much ram any ways. Also PS doesn't even look good compared to its requirements. Also this laptop has loads of ram!!!
Hydlaa is only better than Ojaveda because everyone is making it popular, and I dont like Hydlaa at all sorry but its not made that greatly no big buildings or grand buildings or what not considering its suppose to be the main city in PlaneShift. The only thing that stands out for me is the plaza just the dish with the statue. and the arena is alright.
1/2??? why should we porcine our weight when there is no storage (other than alts) 80% of players that I know will have their inventories full/close to full enough that dakkrus curse will stop them from moving.Its stupid and child like!

Earowo your wrong, where I was slaying trepors was about a minute run to Oja..... I have no clue why I died when I'm like 50 Heavy Armor and I was on Fully Defence and then (not responding) happened so I re logged, to find my self in DR (like I said before)
Also Earowo your not in that % because I don't know you... and why are you being so negative its simple I'm saying that the re-spawning point for DR should be changed and your acting Immature about it?? and also 150kg inventory what the heck do you have on you??? 2 sword, leather armor, and that's about it?? I have 2 50Q broad swords, 2 300Q claymores, 1 Claymore of the Defender, 2 sets of heavy armor (1 50Q, 1 about 15Q) plus random stuff like a torch a shovel some mana potions, some random loot. My inventory lives! for a real RPer you cant have a hunter/warrior with 150kg inventory!

Not wanting to get into a fight so not responding to anyone in particular. Hydlaa is a central point in game at the moment, so from there you can get to BD or Oja about the same time, so that point alone I feel makes the move to all spawn there a valid one.
You would not be happy if that had been BD and you spawn in Oja, or other way round. As for the curse, better than say you leave all your possessions at point of death, like some games do, or you lose say half your PP and/or tria. be glad that it is only time you lose, also how far away is Harny from where you spawn, so again not a bad decision to spawn there, at your own risk equip a sword to enable you to [for lack of a more dramatic word] cheat. {{ Beware the guards}} I am sure these weapons were designed for fighting, not for carrying extra weight. [sure if I am wrong on this point someone will correct it] Do not know about you but weapons are for fighting killing murdering and menacing.

Why would I ? Eh eh... To train my repair skills. It takes a long time to damage 50 swords, :sweatdrop: and I wouldn't sell them to the Death Guardian in such a bad condition. ;D
Vakachehk, I, like everybody else, have been forced to sit many times, in my case with a full load of ore (and in the past, the Death Guardian didn't even buy ore...). I see the towns full of sitting cursed people as very... PlaneShiftic. ;D It's really part of the scenery, and it's rather amusing. What you need is to find something to do when you're stuck there, such as writing, chatting, selling (by auction), whatever. There is a price to pay for dying, and you should thank Dakkru that it's a very affordable one... 8)

I want to say Thank you to the PS team for your time and efforts into the new client. I unfortunately wasn't able to help in the test client. Lag was very bad for me and I get sick to my stomach after all the fuzzy screen changes and lag. :( There are a lot of bugs and things to work out in the new client. Even though this isn't the "test client" during our game play we are contributing help to making a better game by submitting bugs, likes and dislikes, system problems..etc. While it is frustrating to have game issues like bugs and clients crashing and such, I am grateful for your time and efforts and feel that it is my right to play and enjoy and contribute or to just say "i don't care for this game" and leave it alone. Thanks PS Team!

i have a full set of plate, 300 Q sabres, seduction sword, about 12 crafted sabres to hand out to new players, all my glyphs, a sack full of old quest items, and some swords i looted that i havnt gotten rif of yet, and i still just keep me weight at 140 to 160
and on the side, just cus youdont know me doesnt make me not in the % if i play, wich i do, that puts me in it right there
and another side note, i have maxed heavy armor and damn near maxed sword, so if you really want to fight about it i'll kick your ass
so id say drop it

well then seems strange that you have so many things, when I trained metallurgy i emptied out everything in my inventory other than my Heavy Armour and I was roughly around 60-70 and then placed my ores in, or maybe you are talking about all the things you own in PS just most are on alts :P . or you have a sack "for quest items" nothing really in them.
LOL I'm sure I can beat you never said it will be me fighting I know a lot of PS players and have a very good relationship with very strong and tough guilds (not like i am in one but its not a PL guild its a RP ONLY clan) let me guess your in Nexus of Devotions? or you are a lonely PLer?? dot tell me not to guess when I haven't came across your name. or you just don't play much.
Hmmmmm why is it you think I'm complaining this is the only tab I'm complaining in, the rest are just suggestions or questions.
Also they didn't called it the Complaints Department if everyone doesn't complain.

I only just saw this post. I dont want to sell it as that means I have to travel to BD to get another set, for training Heavy Armor on. I always have 2 sets one for training and one for duelling.
