The current gameplay mechanics allow you to check other players power relative to yours by checking their description. This is a good thing both for rp and game-play, as it can be explained by how strong you perceive them to be, and can be used to make fight-or-flight decisions. It would also make sense rp-wise though, that with enough skill you could alter others' perceptions of you. My suggestion is for a static skill that can slightly alter the readings other's would get. A good enough assassin would make sure they look harmless in order to assure they are more successful. Possibly there could be a skill for both directions, Deceit, for appearing to be weaker, and Bluff, for appearing stronger. A side-affect of the skills would be being able to see through others' changes, as a bluffer would know the tricks, and a deceiver know when others are pretending to be small.

This might work if players actually trained to fit their RP.

Hope this is not too spoilerish .. there are some items that will modify your stats .. making you look stronger or weaker. If your playing with players who check your description to judge your strength then equipping one of these items should work. Some of us do not use the assessment in the character description at all.

ya if sombody offers me a duel, i dont care weather they are way weaker then me or way stronger then me, i give it a shot no matter what

There is even a feature request for this in the bug tracker. A possible idea is to make it possible to adjust how others judge you based on your charisma, and have others with high intelligence see through that.

The way characters evaluate one another is well done as it is, in the future it will probably get more complicated.

Like an elite assassin with 2 daggers and 4 light armor?

Well. Bear in mind that brute strength isn't everything.
If you carry a full plate armor and an axe, you'll be a fortress, but you won't win agility contests, albeit being well trained. The assassin can use the "back-stab" [skill soon(tm)] in a weak point with his dagger; Just because he's lighter and more agile with his equipment.
What has this assasin got of elite? His speed and agility. He's not got a "pwz0rz heavy excellent reinforced battleaxe" and "pwz0rz Str", but he's got a heck of speed and agility.

Thorgrin, you're right on those points about what makes assassins strong.
But the joke was about characters with low stats and skills that roleplay an "elite" assassin. Refusing to train agility, strength, endurance, will, charisma, intelligence, daggers, light armor.
