Hi, im new at PlaneShift ^^.
i downloaded PlaneShift-v0.5.0-x86.bin and i allowed to execute file as program, and then double clicked it but didnt worked. so i went to terminal and did ~/Desktop and then sudo su and after that ./PlaneShift-v0.5.0-x86.bin but then he said that there was no such file or directory :S anyone knows how i can install it?
-
try without sudo. if that segfaults then try with --mode text (may not be exactly that command, use --help for more info)
-
nope doesnt work :'(
-
ls -l and see what the permissions are
-
when i type ls -l in terminal there doesnt stands PlaneShift in it.
-
you must be in the wrong directory, then the terminal generally starts in your home so you would first need to
cd Desktop
su would possibly put you in the home directory of root
-
did that, still no PlaneShift
-
go on irc for realtime help
-
Whats irc? im kinda a newbie xD
-
internet relay chat, it ought to be under the internet category on your start menu. konversation is the default for kde or it could be quassel or xchat.
you want to connect to the freenode server (irc.freenode.net) default port and then join #planeshift. I gotta go to work so good luck with your problem.
By the way if you can see it on your desktop then do not do sudo su you can open a fresh terminal (your home directory) then cd Desktop and then sudo ./Pl[tab] should fill the rest of the line for you do not type the [tab] just press the tab key.
-
wtf, i can see it on my desktop but when i press tab nothing comes :S and btw, irc or nothing of the other things u just called is in my internet directory :S
-
just downloaded konversation from ubuntu software center. gonna try to get help there :)
