Post by: momodig on January 17, 2010, 09:03:02 am
certain areas of the game all character models pc/npc are black... is there a way to disable shaders?

If you disable shaders you will see nothing at all. Shaders are needed for any graphical output in CS (PS). Better is to tell us what graphics card and OS you are using and make sure you have recent update drivers for OpenGL.

I found a shadercaches directory in my C:

The other directory you suggested I found the appdata/planeshift directory... but no shadercache directory, though I see a shaderccahe file in that directory.... there is also a a cache directory.

I did delete the shadercache directory in the C:\ (as it belonged to PS) logged into game still have black character models

If you see black characters in game (or more exactly too dark), try F12 for increasing and F11 for decreasing brightness correction. If you see shadercache file, then it should be ok, but if you change shaders settings, delete it too, so the new shaders can be recompiled.

Not sure if it's to dark, like i said, it's just the character models and F11 and F12 don't help.

Try fiddling around with different settings in PSLaunch, deleting the shadercache folder each time before starting the game. You may find a setting that works.

(Deleting the shadercache folder each time may be necessary to 'clear the slate' so to speak.)

New version uses shadercache file, so delete the file if there is not directory present
